01 | Burning flames
Chapter one
The night air was brisk and urged him to take a shelter inside, but he was still caught wandering across the forest, surrounded by tall trees and impenetrable darkness. It was February, the coldest month of the year, and the garments he was wearing were really not enough to keep him warm. He was just lucky the wind wasn't too harsh, because nothing was more unpleasant than the stinging in his ears and the prickling feeling under your skin when it warmed up again after hours outside.
With narrowed eyes Jungkook tried to see something through the darkness. His chest was heaving up and down, his hot breath turning into a fog and disappearing in the thin air. Jungkook's feet stunk into the spongy earth as he walked, and it left behind a trail of faint footsteps for as far as the eye could see.
The young alpha had been running through the woods for days, searching for something that many people thought of as a fairytale. No one had enough faith in him to believe that he would find the legendary true blood that lived among these territories. But he was desperate. Jungkook had been watching his warriors die for far too long, and he couldn't stay indifferent to the relentless death toll of his comrades.
Two years ago, this new pack came out of nowhere, seeking for revenge and blood. Their leader – the only true blood alpha to ever exist – cannot be stopped by any living creature. Many alphas had lost their lives in order to stop him, but nothing seemed to work. A simple glimpse of those red crimson eyes and you were a goner.
There was nothing in the world that was truly the most powerful. No person, no creature. They could all be broken down, defeated, killed. It was the way of the world, a way to maintain balance. Even the strongest, most dangerous creatures could be taken down by someone weaker if they were clever enough. It was bullshit in Jungkook's opinion.
The only way to kill a true blood was by finding another one. And Jungkook blindly held onto the myth of this mystic alpha who lived a lonely life as a rogue. As the second heir of the pack, it was his duty to protect his people and bring honor to the family. That was why he left as soon as possible when the news about the upcoming danger reached his ears.
He had been searching for this wolf for days, maybe even weeks, but so far nothing had shown up. He didn't know anything else about this rogue except for his location. High up in the mountains, hidden in the dark forest of tall trees and unknown to the civilization creatures, was living the powerful true blood.
Sounded like a story made up to scare the little pups, but it was his last chance to end the war and return the peace.
As he kept walking through the forest, feet aching and throat dry from the lack of water, the alpha suddenly stopped in his track when he heard the popping sound of a twig.
The hair on his nape straightened up and he shifted his gaze to the direction of the noise, trying to see something through the thick darkness. Jungkook held his breath, doing his best to stay quiet and not scare the thing away. He didn't want to bring his expectations too high, but after so many days of absolute nothingness his hope was on its last limit.
After a few more seconds, the alpha released a soft breath and turned around to walk away, assuming the cause of the noise was probably a rabbit or another forest creature. Just when he was about to swirl on his toes and continue his way, something shiny flashed in front of his eyes, causing him to stop in his halt once again.
He felt something cold touching the skin of his neck, another source of warmth invading his space, making his gasp in surprise.
A silver dagger was digging into his pale skin, right above the Adam apple. There was another body pressed against his back, an extremely sweet scent of strawberries and honey invaded his nostrils, already having a guess who it might be.
"Omega," Jungkook breathed out, his deep voice was caught somewhere in a whisper, his own inner alpha stirring within him. He might sound absurd, because there was no way an omega would live alone in the hazardous forest, what about threatening a strong alpha like him. But the scent never lied. It couldn't be a beta because they didn't smell of anything, and alphas had this sharp scent of musk. The person, whoever it may be, was an omega.
The stranger pressed his dagger more into the sensitive skin on his neck, causing the first drop of blood to paint the silver metal. Jungkook clenched his jaw and stayed quiet, keeping his guard up.
"Are you surprised, alpha?" The voice belonged to a man. The deep baritone caused goosebumps to run the entire length of Jungkook's spine.
The raven-haired male balled up his hands into fists and he squirmed around in an attempt of escaping the male's hold, but the weapon pressed right under his chin prevented him from doing so.
Sighing helplessly, Jungkook let his body relax, but he persistently refused to do this man the courtesy of showing his defeat. He just waited for the right moment of weakness to attack.
"It's dangerous for an omega to wander outside at night." He said instead of directly answering the question. Of course, he would be surprised. Most of the omegas in his pack wouldn't be allowed to show their faces outside of the house so late at night. And this man had the guts to threaten his life. "Your alpha must have a lot of trust in you."
The omega scoffed grumpily, obviously displeasured to hear these words, judging by the way he tightened his grip on the silver dagger that reflected a thin razor-sharp card of moonlight that peeped through the centimeter gap between the leaves.
"Who said I need an alpha to tell me what to do?" The man asked in return, disgust lacing the syllables of his tone. "I'm my own person, and you are not welcomed here, so better leave before I end your life."
Jungkook raised an eyebrow at the command, surprised to see himself being ordered around by an omega. No way he would listen to this stranger's words. He didn't spend the last few days of non-stop searching to be sent away at the end. His people had high hopes in him, and he didn't want to let them down.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you" Jungkook muttered, making a clicking noise with his tongue. He grasped the male's wrist in a tight grip, tilting his head to the side to increase the distance between his neck and the sharp point of the dagger. "But I'm not going anywhere."
With one swift move, he turned around to face the intruder, literally gasping at the realization of the beauty that stood in front of him. His breath got stuck in his throat and he found himself unable to speak, staring in awe at the beautiful omega.
The male was a young boy, probably around his age. He was impossibly pretty. Blonde hair framed a thin-boned face with delicate yet sharp features. His skin was flawless and place, like the ebony trinkets traders sometimes sold in the marketplace. His mouth was slightly open he as waited for the alpha's next move, chest raising and falling with identical movements. He had a type of ethereal beauty the likes of which Jungkook had never seen before, and it made his heart jump strangely.
Before he could come back to his sense, the alpha was pushed down on his back, his head hitting the muddy ground with a painful thud.
Jungkook scrunched up his face in an agonizing grimace, hissing quietly, the impact was hard enough to make him go dizzy and he could feel the blood boiling in his temple. He didn't even have the time to stand up before a foot was pressed onto his chest, threatening to break his ribcage.
"Alphas. You can be taken down so easily without realizing it," the stranger's mocking tone rang in his ears, his own inner wolf getting slightly irritated for being taken down without any struggle from the omega's side.
The raven-haired male looked up at him with a fierce look blazing his eyes, the irises were flickering between rich yellow and chocolate brown, his emotions were like a rollercoaster he couldn't control. To say his alpha pride was hurt would be misunderstanding. He was ashamed of himself for being knocked down on the ground from an omega.
"Who the hell are you?" Jungkook blurted out the question, trying not to roll his eyes at the boy's disrespectful comment. Never for once in his life had he let a lower rank speak so freely to him.
The omega's chiseled jaw was clenched tight, taut as a bowstring, ticking with simmering distaste and annoyance. Rosy lips pursed into a straight line as he pierced his sky-blue eyes through Jungkook's soul, taming his inner alpha almost immediately.
Jungkook's body went limp and he closed his mouth shut, not uttering a word as he stared into these dangerous eyes. The blue looked almost fascinating, specks of it shining brightly under his long lashes whenever he blinked. He knew the color by heart, so much so it should've felt familiar by now, after looking at it for so much time.
The young alpha had seen the color in many omegas' eyes before, but it had never been that ferocious. Burning flames were dancing in the boy's orbs, screaming dominance and power. The color flashed; bright, shiny blue against tanned skin, sparkling like two shooting stars that burnt and collided against one another in a gorgeous jumble.
"Submit!" The omega's order caused every single nerve in his body to tremble and Jungkook found himself unable to resist it, his own wolf didn't show any signs of opposition.
Heyooo! This is my new story and I hope you'll like it!
