The river

Moon twined her tail around Raker's. Raker had the frill of a Sandwing and the ice spikes of an icewing right behind her neck. At the end of her tail, she had the scorpion-like poisonous barb with whip like spikes right before the end of her tail. Her unusually HUGE wings were  pitch black with shiny star like scales underneath. The arms of her wings were icy blue silver and her claws were tan. The top of her back was pure unusual golden scales. The rest of her scales were black and she had the silver scale like tear drops in the corner of her eyes. She had silver outlining scales that separated her underbelly with her black scales. The silver line of scales went all the way down to the tip of her deadly tail. Her underbelly was silver blue like the icewings. Her eyes were a bright, cool as ice sea green. Her eyebrows were silver as well. Her frill was an icy blue. Neither Moon or Winter knew why she was part Sandwing. Her and Raker rested near a fast moving River. Raker was only about a year old. She sped ahead of her mother to pounce on a big leaf. Moon smiled warmly at her and chuckled. Raker pounced on the leaf and the wind blew it right out of her talons. Making it fly on the tip of her nose. She crossed her eyes to look at it, then jumped to catch it. Instead she fell backwards on her back, her wings flailing. She saw the leaf gently land on her belly. She looked down at it then rolled over on her belly, squishing it. "Aww." She said in a playful sad tone. Moon walked over to her, glaring down at her, giving her a kind smile. She put her talons gently on her forehead. "You are my special little dragonet." She said as she leaned down and picked her up from behind the arms like in the lion king, except she held her close to her heart. Moon closed her eyes, remembering the day her and Winter were leaning over the egg as it hatched. She wrapped her wings around Raker. And Raker wrapped her arms around Moon. "I wuv you!" Raker yelled gleefully. Moon chuckled and fell backwards into the soft grass with Raker on her belly. Moon's wings spread out on the grass. They could hear the rough sounds of the water. Moon started to tickle her as Raker giggled. They heard the loud beats of wings. They looked up and saw Winter returning with a reindeer hanging from his jaws. He landed with a thud, still flapping his wings and then folding them in. He dropped the reindeer on the ground next to an overhanging tree. Moon quickly got up, gently removing Raker. She walked over to Winter with Raker skipping ahead to hang onto one of his front legs. Moon put her talons between his and they put heads together. "You've been gone for days! What happened to you, your face, I-it's-" "I got in a fight with a group of Skywing soldiers." He said, cutting her off. She gasped, her eyes wide and her jaw dropped. "How?! Why?!" She asked. He sighed heavily and looked down at Raker. "They said it was their catch, but really, they were just looking for a fight. I fought them off though." He said as he looked up at her warningly. He had a deep cut across his face with a scar across his eye. "Moon, I need to talk to you alone, I don't think Raker should hear this." He told her with sympathy/guilt in his deep blue eyes. Moon bent over to face Raker. "Raker, honey, you need to go play somewhere with more leaves, daddy has something important to tell mommy." She said kindly, pushing Raker gently off in the direction down river. Raker sighed. This happened almost every time daddy got home. "Aww, okaaayy." She said with a bit of sadness. She quickly ran off down river. She quickly saw a pile of leaves close to the water. She didn't pay any attention to the river. She jumped in the leaves, making them fly up into the air and she tried to catch them all with her talons and teeth.

She played for a little while until she accidentally got to close to the rivers edge. Her hind leg slipped and scraped against the slippery mud. She started to try to yowl for help, but she realized that the water was so cold, that chills went up her spine, making fear pulse through her to much to scream for help. She tried to scrape with her front claws back onto the bank, but mud just splashed all over her body, it looked like she gave her underbelly and bottom jaw a mud bath. Until she couldn't hold much longer and she fell, being swept harshly down the rapid river. Sharp rocks hit her and she slammed hard into boulders. She saw her parents running along the banks after her in fear, but she was spinning rapidly in circles from the water, then she heard the blood curdling scream of her mother. Raker felt her stomach leap. Suddenly it felt like all the water of the river was falling into a deep hole. She was falling down a waterfall. All she could see were her wings flailing In front of her face. Until she smacked hard against the surface of the water. It stung from horn to tail tip. She thought it was over, but it wasn't. The water kept pushing her forward. Until she felt a hard Boulder hit right above her horn by her templates. Then everything went black and her ears had a high pitched ring.
