The Hatching

Glow woke up and realized that Raker had retrieved her egg. Glow smiled warningly at the sleeping dragons. The sun hasn't risen yet, but she had woken up from a nightmare about Raker's dragonet being evil. She sat by the fire. She could smell the warm food that was being prepared for dragons for when the day officially started when the sun rises. She heard a loud crack. She suddenly perked up in alarm. It was a snap of a twig. She looked around defensively. She saw a dark shape move in the shadows right behind Raker. She saw the talons of a Sandwing step over Raker. His face appeared in the light of the fire. She sighed in relief realizing that it was just Atlantis. She realized that he had ocean blue horns that were the same color as his eyes. They were glowing! The black circles that went down his sides of his neck and body had blue in them that was the same color and they were glowing to. He smiled warningly as he cautiously stepped over Raker who was curled around her egg and sleeping soundly. "Could you be more noticeable and careful next time!" She whispered. He just smiled smugly and replied. "Well I wanted to surprise you. So I decided to come early." He said as he stepped closer to her. She backed away and slightly rose her lips in a snarl, but it wasn't being rude, she just wanted to show him that she was annoyed. He laughed brushed his wing against hers. "C'mon, what's the problem?" He asked kindly. "Nothing, you just spoiled me and I had a nightmare." He looked at the fire and then at the others. "Oh.... Well, are those your friends?" He said waving his wing to the others. "Naw, their just total strangers that I'm sleeping next to by a campfire.... No you mongrel! Of course their my friends!" She laughed. He laughed nervously with her. "So you want me to show you around before dragons start waking up and filling the streets?" He asked with such kindness. He stood up and took a few steps to the town. "Um, sure?" She replied, unsure. "C'mon! Let's go." He smiled. She slowly got up and walked with him in the street, glancing back at her friends. "Soo, why do you have blue and black?" She asked cautiously. He looked down at his talons as they walked. "Well, my mother was a mix between a Seawing and a Nightwing. And my father was Qibli." He said. "My mother died in a fight with Icewings. I was there to...." He trailed off sadly. "Who was that with you yesterday?" She asked back. She felt bad for him. There was a lot of hybrids she has been meeting lately. It was quite odd. It seemed as if this world was going to strive with hybrids. "My parents were Tsunami and Riptide." She told him in a murmur. "Your lucky. Anyways, that Sandwing with me was just a friend." He said looking at her glowing striped under her wings.

Later that day
Raker's POV

The egg started to hatch and everyone surrounded. This was the amazing moment for Raker. About thirty minutes later, the dragonet came out of the egg. He was quite large and muscular, he was a little bit below Raker's shoulder. He was all black with a tan underbelly. He had the spikes behind his neck and had a frill down his back. His frill was golden like sunny the Sandwing. One of his eyes was a bright and shiny silver while the other was a deep sea green. He had the face of a Skywing. He didn't have a deadly barb at the end of his tail, but he had the spikes of an Icewing. His underbelly was an ice blue. He had golden tear drops in the corners of his eyes. He had the golden scales going down the sides of his body all the way to the top of his tail. His wings were black with golden scales for stars. Raker saw that the others were happy. He wasn't a dud after all. Deadwings was smiling at him. "Hello, Aysher." Raker said while she bent over and rubbed head with him. He rubbed head with her to. She felt his warm scales against hers. She picked him up and held him close to her.
