The Battle

The ICEWING had a sinister menacing smile. She felt cold from his gaze. Then all of the sudden the other Skywing flew away and Ash whispered in her ear with a normal voice. "Good luck." Then he flew away. She watched after him, missing his unusual warm scales. She heard a Skywing yell, "Fight!" Then the ICEWING almost immediately lunged at her. She quickly stepped out of his way and one of his talons swiftly swiped across her face. She winced in pain. She couldn't do anything because her parents never taught her to fight. The ICEWING roared in anger and whipped her with his ice spike tail on her side. She roared in agony and then in her own anger, she leaped at him, lashing her dangerous tail barb at him. He backed away from her tail each time she lashed at him. She knew it wouldn't work, so as he jumped at her with his wings outstretched, she ducked below his body as he was soaring over her, he looked shocked, thinking he was gonna knock her to the ground. As he flew over her, she reached out her claws above her and shredded one of his wings. He fell to the ground but quickly gained his balance in a roar of anger and pain. He looked at his shredded wing and then at her talons with the skin of his wing hanging from her claws. He tripped her by making her flinch at his ice breath. She fell backwards dodging it. He held her down with strong talons. He was just about to blow out mighty ice breath, until she heard a roar right behind her. The ICEWING looked up, confusion spreading his face. She whipped her head around and saw Ash, he wasn't awkward or quirky or anything, he looked like a dragon who loved war. He was in a battle stance. "Get. OFF!" He snarled at the ICEWING that was still pinning her to the ground. Suddenly, the ICEWING lunged at him, claws outstretched and teeth shining in the sun. Ash blew out pure smoke instead of fire and the ICEWING landed on the ground coughing and crooping in a horrible fit at the smoke. The dragon wheezed and held his throat. He gasped for breath. Then his body started to jerk around, until it all stopped. She quickly got up and looked confused. Why didn't he just breathe fire? The whole arena booed. She looked around in fright as blood streamed down her face. He quickly ran to her side and flew her back to the tower where he would lock her up again..... Once they reached the tower, she noticed that there was a nightwing. An unusually small nightwing with no silver scales underneath her wings. She stared at her for a while. The nightwing was asleep all curled up in a ball. She felt a little sympathy for the small nightwing. Surprisingly, she was the same size as Raker. Only because Raker was still a dragonet. Ash clamped the chains back on her neck and wings. Then once he was done he looked to her half embarrassed and half guilty for ruining her fight. "S-sorry for what happened back there, Heh heh." He smiled a little, putting one of his hands behind his neck in a nervous way. But he acted like a normal dragon, but unusually kinder than the normal Skywing you meet. He was.. Different. She had no words to say, so she just leaned forward and hugged him, only for saying thank you and that was it. His face brightened and he turned red with shock. Then she quickly backed away, folding in her wings close, realizing that she hugged him for too long and to awkwardly. She cleared her throat and looked down. He pointed one of his talons to the entrance way, signaling he had to leave. "Eh hem, well I gotta go, so umm. Yeah. But we, you know, we could probably meet up tomorrow, you know in secret, er something....." There was a long silence. "Or- or we could do the other thing." He said nervously, not even telling her what the second plan was. She giggled at his silliness. "Yeah, the other thing." She said laughing.he smiled, not knowing why she was laughing. "Y-yeah, soooo, I will, see you tomorrow." He said with glee. He wasn't anything like the dragon she saw earlier. There was a small hole in the tower that let moonlight spill in. He quickly waved goodbye and flew away, towards the castle. She curled up in a ball, smiling. But then she realized what had happened today. She thought of the ICEWING that only fought for someone who wasn't their Queen just so they could live. She felt guilty that she wasn't the one who killed him and that she and Ash technically killed him together. She thought it wasn't fair. She remembered the dragon holding his throat, gasping and desperate for air. She put her talons over her eyes and thinking about the mess she got herself in. She felt horrible all in the inside and started to cry missing home, but then she spread out her aching wings and soon fell asleep. She dreamt of Ash. She dreamt of his smile and how he was silly and nervous. She remembered his weird warm scales. She didn't want to ever leave the dream.
