Deadwings and Raker
Raker woke up to see fish in front of her. She looked to DeadWings and nodded a 'thank you' to her. DeadWings nodded back with a slight smile. Raker saw that DeadWings had quickly finished her two fish. Raker had guessed she was very hungry. They were often silent to each other. Raker was anxious. She desperately wanted to see Ash again. It was the only thing she thought of. It was like thoughts going in continuous, never ending circles in her head. And she even got glimpses of DeadWings' past. It was quite sad to Raker. But she didn't want to ask any uncomfortable questions. "I know you want to know more about me." She heard DeadWings say. Raker looked at her, being swept away from her deep thoughts. "I know your a mind reader and probably saw that memory." DeadWings said blankly. But how did she know? How does she know? Hmm.. This Nightwing has something special inside of her. She hides her feelings well. Raker thought, her eyebrows narrowing. "How did you kno-" "the scales in the corners of your eyes. They gave it away" DeadWings cut her off. "Morrow seer had them, but they were black, so you couldn't see them." DeadWings said, staring deeply into Raker's eyes. Raker couldn't hold the gaze and turned her head away. "I will tell you about my past." DeadWings said. DeadWings told her about being smaller than her mother's talons when she was born. And how her mother was always getting ill. Then on her hatching day her mother was ill for the last time. Morrow seer had banished her and she had to leave the Nightwing kingdom. Then she was captured by the skywings and her tail was burned off in the act of escaping the arena from Peril. "Oh, well, I'm sorry to hear that." Raker replied. "Well, I was a year old until I was swept away down a rapid River from my parents. I thought the skywings would help, but when I was with my parents, they never had the chance to teach me anything. So Burn tackled me and then I was sent to the arena prison. And then I escaped Peril as well, just like you, and now I'm here." Raker purposely left out Ash. She looked down, closed her eyes and tears rolled down her face. She sighed in sadness. She turned her head slightly away from DeadWings, but she knew DeadWings had saw her. "Are you okay?" DeadWings asked with sympathy in her voice. Raker sighed, "I'm fine.. I just.. Need to think." She said then turned completely the opposite direction of DeadWings and sat down. Her head was hanging low and her wings drooped. Her tail was neatly and tightly placed over her front talons, so it curled around her hind legs. She looked up at the clear, sunlit sky. She opened her wings to let the wind brush against them. She turned back around to DeadWings and smiled, trying to forget the painful memories that were ever so continuous.
It was now midday and they were walking through the desert sand. Raker saw that they were heading towards the Rainwing kingdom. "Where are we going?" Raker asked, even though she already knew. "Well, we are going to the Rainwing kingdom." DeadWings said with a smile. Raker was actually excited. She smiled brightly, for she had never been there before. She has never really been anywhere before. "Cool! I have never been there before!" She yelled, almost to excitedly. She saw DeadWings flinched from her sudden happiness. A vision of a bright green rainforest appeared in Raker's head. She saw bright flowers that were red with hints of yellow. And purple with blue. She saw white and silvery-blue like the scales of an Icewing. She heard the delightful noise of bird song. Then the bison vanished almost too quickly. Raker actually enjoyed the peacefulness. The rainforest seemed like the most relaxing place to be. She couldn't possibly think of another kingdom that looked and felt that comfortable. Plus, she was getting a little tired of sand. Sandra's at the floor of the arena back at the Skywing kingdom and reminded her too much of the blood of dragons that was spilled there. She couldn't wait to feel something besides sand. She felt comfortable around DeadWings. It was quite odd. But it was comfortable like a friendship-comfortable, which she never really felt before, not including Ash. He didn't really count. They got closer to the Rainwing kingdom. Excitement rose in Raker's chest. They tracked farther and farther, they talked more and became friends more and more. That day was actually one of the best days of Raker's life since she was with her mother that day.
