Chapter Twenty Three
‘’I only did it to save our lives!’’ Dylan protested. ‘’And it worked.’’ … ‘’Look at you, your electrocuted!’’ He yelled. Deep inside of him, he felt a mix of emotions, and regret. Asher closed his eyes, and with seemingly no effort at all, he healed himself. The electrocution on him, that once burned and stung, began to disappear.
‘’We were supposed to be a team!’’ … Asher argued. As always Dylan had trouble defending himself. Dylan brought up how Asher saved him from Ultra-terrestrails, using that incident as reasoning.
‘’You saved us by bowing to someone who does not deserve it, that is cowardice.’’ … ‘’I know Ultra-terrestrails could kill a mere Boltcat, (with or without powers) but if i died, unlike you, i’d die courageous, and protecting the people i love.’’ He hissed. ‘’Your right, i'm, i’m sorry.’’
Sometimes Dylan was so defensive, there was hardly any emotion in his voice. He no doubt loved Asher, even though he felt he did the right thing at the time… The two of them decided to let it go…
The next day, Dylan and Asher went to go to the yellow eye together.
It was sort of a long journey to the center of the forest, Asher caught a shrew to fulfill his hunger before he left. Something in Asher’s peripheral vision caught his attention. ‘’Dylan,’’ He whispered, as a strange reflective figure was coming their way. ‘’Who is that?’’ Dylan strained to see him, it was as if all the surroundings reflected off him. ‘’That is Gage the Glass Sorcerer, he is good.’’ … Asher has never seen such a thing in his life. Just like Xer is made of salt, Gage is made of glass.
‘’Hi Gage,’’ Dylan greeted. Asher shielded himself behind Dylan’s boots, stunned by the appearance of the Glass Sorcerer; he was reflective, and almost see-through, he hardly had facial features just like a mannequin, just dimples where the eyes and nose should be, and in his hands he wielded a twisted glass staff.
‘’Hello, your the Sorcerer of the Sea, we’ve met before.’’ He beamed. ‘’I've been hoping to speak with you.’’ he started.’ … Gage didn’t know Dylan was concealing Asher. ‘’As you know i am a Sorcerer of Glass, and i’d like to trade powers with you, right now.’’ … ‘’Trade powers?” Dylan questioned. ‘’This is not a Gathering.’’ … Gage explained he was unable to attend the Gathering, due to the weather conditions.
Gage then looked down and caught sight of Asher. ‘’You have a Boltcat?!’’ He was memorized by such a companion. He reached down to pet Asher with his cold glass hand. Asher stayed low to the ground, the cold touch of his hand, sent chills down his spine.
Gage then proposed a deal to Dylan, only trading a simple trick, nothing too serious… ‘’As a Glass Sorcerer, i have the power to shoot shards of it at enemies, you once said even through you are a Sea Sorcerer you can conjure up fire from within your palms to warm yourself, can we trade?” … Dylan could see the reflection of thunder on Gage’s glass body, he thought carefully for a moment.
… Right now Dylan was feeling more generous than ever.
‘’Instead of granting me the power, can you give it to my Boltcat?”
