Chapter 1
A miscolored, glitched, skeletal hand ran its fingers along ash-covered ruin walls. The hand's host hummed in thought as they ripped open a screen and inspected the code of the world, skimming their tired eyes over the blaring lines of code that they only had the capability of understanding.
They closed the screen soon after, before looking around at the destroyed region once more. An idea popped into their mind, and they decided to voice their thoughts out loud, albeit if only to themselves.
The voice that spoke wasn't one of malice or kindness, but only one devoid of emotion. It was overall quite low, and it warbled up and down in pitches every so often, but the statement that they made was simply a statement.
"нЦн. ௱ΛϤϦƐ ɪ らнØЦŁÐ ƔɪらɪŤ Ťнɪら þŁΛㄈƐ ௱Ø尺Ɛ ØFŤƐЛ."
("Huh. Maybe I should visit this place more often.")
With that, they left the world through a mildly-shifting portal, walking through to a white void that they had no other choice but to call home. As he sat down on the unidentifiable ground of what he called the "Anti-void", he decided to play with the strings that came from his eyes; a forever reminder as of how he had spent the first few years in this damned place.
He, Error (as the voice in his head had dubbed him), was the destroyer of worlds. He was feared by many, and respected by naught but only 1 (of whom was the God of Negativity, Nightmare). He was (technically immortal) enemies with the Creator of Worlds, Ink, and he had been placed in this job by none other than Lady Fate herself.
Of course, he had come to terms with all of this many, many eons ago, just a couple of centuries after the creation of the Multiverse, and just after he had stopped being a crybaby about the entire mess too.
A soft 'ping' rang through his head, signifying that there was another AU that must be put out of its misery. He sighed, putting away his strings and standing up with creaking bones as he summoned a portal with a gesture of his right hand. He didn't necessarily hate his job, per say, but he sure didn't enjoy it either.
The only thought that had made him come to acceptance with the fact that he was decimating thousands of souls each week, was that the AUs that he was "attacking" were already past their time of living. That meant that if he just left them there, they would either collide with other worlds, or fall into the void with all of its souls still existing inside it.
Back to the present, the portal that he had summoned seemed to have transported him to a Birdtale copy. The signs of the AU starting to break on its own were already clearly prominent, with flakes and bits of the terrain already floating up into the sky.
He looked around for a bit, looking to see if any Sans from the "Star Squad" (a group of three sans that Ink had created in an effort to halt Error from destroying the pieces of art and trash that he had thrown straight from his noggin) had appeared , before whipping out his strings and bounding through the world with practiced ease.
Other thoughts were occupying his mind whilst he was almost painlessly ripping apart the souls of every human, monster, and human-monster hybrid that he passed by. Once he made sure that every soul had been put to rest, he teleported outside of the AU to watch it fall into the void and make sure that it didn't crash into any other worlds in the process.
The entire task never seemed to get boring for him, for there would always be some sort of change in each world that he travelled through. One thing that never changed though, was the fact that he went to original Outertale AU every day, at the exact same time. Speaking of which, it seemed like it was time to go at that very moment.
Opening another portal, he set the destination and passed through, his worn sandals soon hitting against the barren rock that made up his favorite cliff's composure. He let out an exhale of relief when his discolored eyelights settled on the familiar, relaxing sight of stars littering the galaxy sky, and he made his way to the edge of the cliff where he usually sat.
Oftentimes, the AU's Sans, Outer, would find him and kick him out (much to his internal dismay, yet of course he never showed that emotion on the outside), but that had only been one time. Now, he had learned to conceal his sudden existence in this particular AU as to make sure that he had an adequate amount of peace in this world before eventually having to return to the Anti-void.
His expression feigned a feeling of annoyance when he felt a being enter his range of sensing monster and human souls, specifically the soul's location being at the very edge of the forest's tree line that bordered behind him.
He should have suspected this though, for he knew very well that the OG Outertale Sans made regular trips to random locations in the AU. So, in response, he stood up from his sitting position and turned towards the forest.
"ㄈØ௱Ɛ ØЦŤ F尺Ø௱ ŤнƐ尺Ɛ, ɪ ҚЛØƜ ϤØЦ'尺Ɛ ŤнƐ尺Ɛ. ϤØЦ'ƔƐ ΛŁ尺ƐΛÐϤ ௱ΛÐƐ ɪŤ þΛɪЛFЦŁŁϤ ØϦƔɪØЦら."
("Come out from there, I know you're there. You've already made it painfully obvious.")
A couple of moments after Error stated the obvious, a rustling was heard from one of the bushes that sat on the edge of the forest. From that popped out a distantly-recognizable Sans ,of whom bore a yellow, white, and purple jacket and similarly-colored shorts as to match his top attire.
"Damn, and I thought that I had a good hiding place there." Error heard the Sans mumble to himself, and the Destructor of Worlds let out a soft huff of amusement.
"らØ, ƜнΛŤ ɪら ɪŤ ŤнΛŤ ϤØЦ ЛƐƐÐ ØF ௱Ɛ? ɪF ϤØЦ尺 ɪЛŤƐЛŤɪØЛ ƜΛら ŤØ ƓƐŤ ௱Ɛ ŤØ ŁƐΛƔƐ, ΛŁŁ ϤØЦ ƜØЦŁÐ ØF нΛÐ ŤØ ÐØ ƜΛら ΛらҚ."
("So, what is it that you need of me? If your intention was to get me to leave, all you would of had to do was ask.")
Outer looked surprised at Error's words. "Really? I would've thought that I might've had to fight you to get you out of here again."
Error shook his head. "ЛΛн. ƐƔƐЛ ŤнØЦƓн ϤØЦ нΛÐ FØЦƓнŤ ௱Ɛ ŤØ þЦらн ௱Ɛ ØЦŤ ØF ϤØЦ尺 ƜØ尺ŁÐ ŤнƐ ŁΛらŤ Ťɪ௱Ɛ ƜƐ ௱ƐŤ, ɪ ЛƐƔƐ尺 ƜɪらнƐÐ ŤØ ㄈΛЦらƐ ΛЛϤ нΛ尺௱ ŤØ ϤØЦ尺 ΛЦ. ("Nah. Even though you had fought me to push me out of your world the last time we met, I never wished to cause any harm to your AU. All I wanted was a place to rest for a while, and your AU had the best spot to do so. Also, I never tend to stay longer than two hours, so I wouldn't even cause that much trouble for yourself if you were to choose to monitor my stay the entire while.")
Outer blinked at Error's words. It was certainly already a shock that the Destroyer of Worlds was standing just a couple yards away from him and hadn't ripped apart his soul yet, but it was also a massive surprise that he had chosen this specific AU to rest in.
Then, the question that every Sans had been asking at all the council meetings popped into his head, and he decided that now was the best time to ask it.
"So, Error, why exactly do you destroy AUs?" Outer asked, and his nervousness grew when he heard the destroyer let out a soft chuckle. He internally sighed in relief when Error's expression showed that it was good-natured.
Error spoke, before looking up to the sky as if to look at something that only he could see, which were the passing-by worlds above that still teemed with visible life.
("I am not the one who destroys the AUs, so to speak, but it is instead the AUs themselves that are already past their set lifetime. A copy of a universe can only have so many timelines start and end before eventually breaking down and losing its purpose. I am the one that 'cleans up the world' before allowing it to disintegrate into the void, but I must also make sure that it doesn't crash into any AUs that have been seated below. Yours in particular, for your world is the closest world to the void itself.")
Outer froze at those words. "So, does that technically mean that my AU could collide with a falling AU above at any given moment?"
Error nodded his head solemnly.
らƐƐ, ɪF ΛЛ ΛЦ ㄈØŁŁɪÐƐら ƜɪŤн ΛЛØŤнƐ尺 ΛЦ, ɪŤ ϦƐㄈØ௱Ɛら Λ ÐØ௱ɪЛØ ƐFFƐㄈŤ Ťн尺ØЦƓнØЦŤ ŤнƐ ƐЛŤɪ尺Ɛ ௱ЦŁŤɪƔƐ尺らƐ. ("Yes, but that is only another reason as of why I have been created into this role, for I was made to stop this from occurring. See, if an AU collides with another AU, it becomes a domino effect throughout the entire multiverse. The shockwave from that collision will eventually reach to other worlds and push them into the worlds besides or behind them, meaning that if the explosion spreads far enough...")
Outer finished the sentence for him, finally starting to make sense of the entire situation that Ink had his from the council and him for far too long."...It would eventually reach the original Undertale and destroy us all."
Error smiled at him. "ϦɪЛƓØ." ("Bingo.")
Suddenly, Outer fell backwards onto the ground, a dread-filled sense of realization taking over his mind. Error looked at him in concern, before realizing what was the matter. He supposed that proving that all the lies that Ink had told the other Sans wrong would create a giant sense of, "Oh my god what the fuck" for the latter.
"You...you go ahead and finish your stargazing for today, Error. I..I think I've had my 'brain' broken enough for today. Uh..but before I go, I have one more question to ask ya." Outer said, before looking Error nervously in the eyes.
"Uh, will you be here tomorrow?"
Error chuckled a bit. "らΛ௱Ɛ Ťɪ௱Ɛ, らΛ௱Ɛ þŁΛㄈƐ, Λら ɪŤ'ら ΛŁƜΛϤら ϦƐƐЛ." ("Same time, same place, as it's always been.")
Outer nodded, before standing up, waving a quick goodbye, and teleporting away. Error smiled to himself, before allowing his thoughts to be voiced out loud once more.
"ƜƐŁŁ, ɪ ЛƐƔƐ尺 ÐɪÐ ƐχþƐㄈŤ ØЦŤƐ尺 ŤØ ϦƐ ŤнƐ Fɪ尺らŤ ŤØ ҚЛØƜ, ϦЦŤ ɪ らЦþþØらƐ ŤнΛŤ ÐƐらŤɪЛϤ ΛЛÐ FΛŤƐ нΛƔƐ ŤнƐɪ尺 ƜΛϤら."
("Well, I never did expect Outer to be the first to know, but I suppose that Destiny and Fate have their ways.")
He returned to his ledge, looking back up at the stars to watch a couple of meteoroids fly past. Once his time in Outertale had run out, he opened a portal back to the Anti-void and stepped through, leaving the space-induced world behind him.
He waited there for a while, when he felt the familiar 'ping' echo through his empty skull. He stood up slowly, before opening another portal with a tired sigh.
When he walked through, he noticed that it was a crumbling copy of Horrorfell. He grimaced at the red snow that lay before him, noting the minuscular strings of code that lay in-between the grains of snow that told of human blood.
"ƜƐŁŁ, ŤнƐ ɪЛнΛϦɪŤΛЛŤら ØF Ťнɪら þŁΛㄈƐ ƜɪŁŁ らЦ尺Ɛ ϦƐ ƓŁΛÐ ŤнƐϤ ƓƐŤ ŤØ ÐɪƐ ŤØÐΛϤ." ("Well, the inhabitants of this place will sure be glad they get to die today.")
He zoomed through the world quickly, keeping in mind that the AU was destroying itself much faster than usual, and he had just gotten through ripping apart Toriel's cracked soul when he heard voices behind him.
"HEY! Stop right there, you monster!"
Error let out a heavy exhale, groaning in annoyance when he recognized the three voices.
This was going to be a long afternoon for him today.

What am I doing with my life haha-
So, yeah! I'm starting back at square one lads.
It's been a long while since I've written or read anything fgod Error-related, but I guess this is a start.
Anyways, the next chapter should be coming out in a couple days or so (if I even decide to continue this anyways), and we'll just have to see how it goes!
So, hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading, and Fox Out!
