Ashaangi OS I'll be there for you

Ashwin paused his Play Station when he heard his door bell ring. His eyes went to the wall clock that showed 11:30 pm. Wondering who's at his door at this late night, he placed the joystick down, pushed himself off the couch and moved towards the main door.

Ashwin wasn't shocked but surprised to find Sivaangi at the doorstep. He was about to smile and greet her but he frowned when he looked at her face. Her tear-stained face and puffy red eyes alarmed him.

"Sivaangi ma en-" Panic was evident in Ashwin's tone as he raised his hand to touch Sivaangi.

Sivaangi didn't give Ashwin a chance to complete as she leapt forward right into his arms. He stumbled a bit but managed to stand his feet and wrapped his arms around the woman in his arms; worry evident on his face.

"Ma, ena paru ma. Ena ma achu?" Ashwin asked worried as he caressed Sivaangi's hair comfortingly.

Sivaangi didn't say anything. Rather she let her tears down as she flung her arms around Ashwin's neck and snuggled closer to him; her feet barely touching the ground. He heaved a worried sigh before pulling her closer if that's possible and lifted her to himself.

With one hand holding Sivaangi to himself, Ashwin closed the apartment door with his other hand and took her to the couch while still holding onto her. He sat down with her in his arms and placed her on his lap.

Sivaangi snuggled into Ashwin and buried her face into his chest. Knowing that she won't stop crying any time soon, with one arm around her while the other one firmly around her waist, he decided to let her cry her heart out.

Ashwin's hand reached out to caress Sivaangi's locks as he slowly rocked himself with her trying to comfort her. At the same time his mind raced with various possibilities of what could have happened that made his girl break into tears.

Sivaangi closed her eyes and pressed herself more against Ashwin's chest before listening to his heartbeat. She swallowed her tears as she tightened her grip around him and let her racing heart find peace with his heartbeat.

Listening to Ashwin's heartbeat does magic on Sivaangi every single time and today wasn't an exception. She found herself calming down, his presence, scent and heartbeat clouding her senses, assuring her that she's safe.

After five long minutes, Sivaangi composed herself and pulled back from Ashwin to meet his worry-filled eyes. He winced when he saw her red puffy eyes. Instinctively, his hand raised to wipe the traces of tears on her cheeks before cradling her face between his palms.

"Ena achu Sivaangi?" Ashwin asked in a soft tone as his thumb stroked her cheek while his eyes studied hers.

"Ashwineyy..." Sivaangi trailed, a fleck of emotion flashed through her black orbs and her voice strained as her throat dried up from crying which Ashwin noticed.

"Iru, na ipo varen" Ashwin said trying to place Sivaangi down from his lap but she held onto him and shook her head sideways refusing to let him go. She needed his warmth to keep herself together.

"Unaku thanni eduka dhan di poren. Ipo vandhruven. Athuvara okanthru. Seriya? Vandhruven" Ashwin said in a soft tone assuring Sivaangi as he caressed her cheek who freed her hold on him with a distasteful look and nodded her head weakly.

Ashwin placed Sivaangi on the couch and moved towards the kitchen. He came back with a glass of water and saw her leaning against the couch; lost in her thoughts. He placed the glass on the coffee table and softly ruffled her hair.

"Ma?"

Sivaangi looked up at Ashwin, grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the couch. Once he's seated, she quickly climbed on his lap and snuggled into him. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her and made her sit comfortably in his lap.

"Thanni kudi" Ashwin said nudging Sivaangi to have water.

Sivaangi shot a look at Ashwin before looking at the glass on coffee table. She lifted her hand in the direction of the glass but never extended her hand forward to grab the glass. Instead, she turned towards Ashwin and gave him a sad pout.

Rolling his eyes at Sivaangi with a soft smile, Ashwin shook his head before adjusting her in his lap, leaned forward and grabbed the glass of water. He then brought the glass near her lips and she drank greedily from his hand.

"Inum venum ah?" Ashwin asked as he placed the empty glass on the coffee table.

"Podhum" Sivaangi said wiping her lips and leaned against Ashwin's chest.

"Hmmm" Ashwin hummed as he wrapped both his arms around Sivaangi's waist and pulled her more to himself.

Sivaangi placed her hands above Ashwin's. Her finger played with the red thread on his right wrist as the duo basked in comforting silence. She was lost in her thoughts while he wanted to know why she broke down. So, he decided to initiate the conversation.

"Sivaangi" Ashwin said adjusting Sivaangi on his lap in such a way that he can face her.

"Hmmm" Sivaangi replied as she stared at Ashwin before leaning sideways on his shoulder with her eyes fixed on him.

"Ipo solu ena achu nu" Ashwin said caressing Sivaangi's arm comfortingly.

"Ashwineyy..." Sivaangi trailed unsure as she stared at Ashwin.

"Hmmm ethunalum solu ma. Unoda Ashwin ta dhana solra. Thayangatha" Ashwin assured on sensing Sivaangi's hesitation.

Sivaangi took a sharp intake of breath before pulling herself together.

"Personally, I had a bad week as you went out of town for shooting, Ashwineyy. Athu pathathu nu, I had a very bad day professionally" Sivaangi said and heaved a frustrated sigh before locking eyes with Ashwin, "Na sonen la inaiku XYZXYZ sir ooda recording nu. I don't know what came over me...my head was at different places... Sothapiten.... Bayangarama sothapiten. He didn't say anything and politely asked me to have a break. Aana na break mudinchu vandhutu iruka apo I overhead few of his team members saying na just overrated nu... A star kid who had it easy, apdi ipdi nu and my voice is nothing special nu lam pesitu irundhanga. I'm in this industry for four and half years now. Apdi irundhum ithey dhan nadakuthu, Ashwin. Munnadi sirichu appreciate panitu ipdi pinadi pesuranga. I personally try to avoid negativity as much as I can but when it springs in front of my face like this... enaku oru mathiri agiruchu, Ashwineyy"

Ashwin wiped the tears that slipped out of Sivaangi's eyes as he wordlessly listened to her baring her heart. His own eyes were moistened on seeing her cry but he made sure to keep his tears in check for her. He studied her face and understood that she still has stuff left to say. So, he comfortingly rubbed her arm urging her to go on.

"Etho oru kovathula, kadupu la I ended up singing well. Anga irundhu kelambi vandhuten. Mind disturbed ah dhan irundhuchu aana ABCDEF Hotel la oru photoshoot and song discussion irundhuchu nu anga poerundhen. Photoshoot ku pona edathula I saw one of my schoolmates in the lobby. She spoke to me excitedly, fanned over me, praised me and stuffs. Enaku school time la andha ponnu ta pesurathuku pidikum aana lost touch once she changed school. So, I genuinely spoke with her catching up on school stories. I felt good talking to her after that incident at the studio."

Sivaangi heaved a frustrated sigh before she said,

"But it was short lived, Ashwineyy. Na shoot and discussion mudichutu vara apo I ended up overhearing her bitching me to her friends in a conference call. She said I'm a spoiled, mean person with an attitude even after I treated her warmly. She said I'm a desperate person and that my bond with my brothers from professional side was just an attempt to grab attention nu. Athu matum ilama na ongaluku suit aga maten num I'm clingy when it comes to you, nu lam sona. Aprm she said that I have an okay-ish voice, that I'm just an overrated singer and okay-ish actor."

Sivaangu paused before she said,

"Funny thing is when she met me first all she said is that she loved my voice and the roles I have played in the films I have acted so far. She praised me that I have managed to keep my innocence intact all these days and down to earth nu. Oru meeting poetu vara gap la vandhu patha ipdi pinadi pesitu iruka. Enaku ithellam ketu... ketu enaku oru point la what If I'm what these people saying nu... I got blank. I wanted to reach out to you but I know you had your schedule packed. I couldn't come here because I know I would miss you more. Thankfully I had Riasha's apartment keys who went to Bangalore for weekend. I ended up staying rest of the day in her place thinking about the whole thing. I didn't know you came back until Vinayak told me and then I came running here."

Sivaangi raised her tear-filled eyes to meet with Ashwin's who swallowed hard to keep his tears in check.

"Na nejama avanga solra mathiri apdi pata person dhana, Ashwineyy? Attitude...fake... Enoda voice nala ilaya? Enoda performance bearable ah kuda ilaya? Do I treat people poorly? I...I'm not sure If I'm good at...good at anything anymore...I... maybe I'm what I..."

"Ssh" Ashwin shushed Sivaangi as he gathered her in his arms and pressed her against his chest. He patted her head and whispered sweet nothings into her ears trying to comfort her.

Sivaangi cried as she held onto Ashwin; her sobs muffled by his shirt.

"It's okay, I'm here. Calm down, I'm here" Ashwin whispered in Sivaangi's ears as he rocked her with himself.

Her mind blocked out and it took few minutes for Sivaangi to actually listen to what Ashwin's been saying to her.

"Focus on my heartbeat, focus on my breathing" Ashwin whispered in Sivaangi's ear as he softly caressed her locks.

Sivaangi followed Ashwin's words. She focused on his thudding heartbeat and realized both their hearts were thudding dangerously high. If she's going through a break down, it is not less than a nightmare for him. His heart is going crazy on seeing his girl cry, in pain and it affected him as well.

As Sivaangi worked on her breathing, she realized both their heart calmed down with each passing second. When her cry died down and she felt better, she pulled herself out of his arms and looked up at him.

Ashwin swallowed on seeing Sivaangi's tear-stained face and puffy eyes. He didn't realize he was crying until she wiped his tears and nodded her head sideways gesturing him not to cry.

"Aladha, Ashwineyy"

"Alala" Ashwin said wiping the fresh tears out of Sivaangi's eyes and added, "Nee alama irundha"

Sivaangi swallowed her tears and wiped her eyes composing herself on hearing Ashwin. She hates it when she sees tears in his eyes and she wouldn't want to be the reason for his tears.

"Paru, na alala" Sivaangi said giving a wide smile to Ashwin before wiping his tears.

The duo stared at each other in silence. Ashwin stroked Sivaangi's cheek before cradling her face between his palms.

"Na solratha porumaiya kepiya?" Ashwin asked and when Sivaangi nodded affirmatively, he leaned in, pecked her nose before releasing her from his hold. He then took her hand in his and stared into her eyes.

"Na shoot kaga enga travel panalam Bluetooth speaker en eduthutu poren nu unaku theriyum la?" Ashwin asked and when Sivaangi nodded thoughtfully, he added, "En nu solu"

"Na onga kuda ilana enoda songs kekama ongaluku thookam varathu. Athunala dhan" Sivaangi answered in a soft tone as her hand raised to grab his bearded cheek.

"En apdi?" Ashwin pressed.

"Because you say my voice has struck deep inside your soul and its sooths and calms you down after a long day"

"Yes, exactly! You know how picky I'm when it comes to music and you also know I don't sugarcoat when you come asking me for professional suggestions. It is your voice that lulls me to sleep after a long-tired day. It is your music that makes me feel alive despite having no energy even to lift an arm." Ashwin said and Sivaangi bit the inside of her cheek as she listened to him, her eyes fixed on his.

"Kandavanga solranga nu are you questioning the magic in your voice? Nee padunaley elarukum pidikum. Athuvum unoda melodies ku ethane fans irukanga nu theriyum la. Remember your fan meet at Paris? People came flooding to meet you! Etho kandavan solran nu ipdi aluthutu irundhruka" Ashwin said in a soft tone.

"Ashwi-"

"Remember when we went to Ooty for a weekend and we met an old couple, Ramesh uncle and Chitra aunty? Nyabagam iruka Ramesh uncle una pathathum evlo excited aanaru. A 76-year-old man was happy that he gets to meet his favorite singer! Chitra aunty andha kaalathu aal dhan aana ena sonanga nu nyabagam iruka? She said she wished she could have lived her life on her own terms, carefree and without any filter. She said she wished she could have cherished her innocence like you. You treated them like your own. When they blessed you, their eyes were brimming with happiness."

Ashwin paused before he said,

"That's how you are to everyone you meet. Indha attitude, fake ithellam unta oru drop kuda kedayathu. Andha schoolmate dhan edho friends munna show off panrathukaga lusu thanama olariruka na nee atha nenachu ipdi break agiruka? Munna nala pesi pinadi thappa pesurathu happens with everyone and happens everywhere, Chellamma. You know who you are as a person and that is enough. Puriyutha?" Ashwin asked and Sivaangi earnestly nodded her head as she processed his words.

"Don't ever hesitate to reach out to me. Whatever it is, ena nadanthalu, na ivlo busy ah irundhalum always reach out to me. I'll be there for you. Be it happy or sad moments, I'll always be there for you. And, ava yaru nee enaku suit aga maten nu solrathuku? I'm yours and you're mine. Your hand fits mine perfectly. It feels right to be with you, have you in my embrace, to love and cherish you for the rest of my life. You complete me as a man, Sivaangi. Ashwin ku Sivaangi matum dhan. No one else exists for me. Puriyutha?"

Sivaangi stared at Ashwin with all the love she could muster in her doe shaped eyes. He raised an eyebrow expecting her to reply. She leaned in with a soft smile and touched her forehead with his as they both instinctively closed their eyes.

"I love you"

Ashwin smiled when he heard Sivaangi. He tightened his grip around her before saying,

"And, I love you"

Sivaangi leaned back slightly with a warm smile, meeting Ashwin's eyes and placed a kiss on his forehead. She then pulled back from him and said,

"I missed you a lot, Ashwineyy"

"Naanum dhan" Ashwin replied mirroring Sivaangi's smile.

"Seri Bangalore shoot epdi pochu nu solunga." Sivaangi asked adjusting herself on Ashwin's lap leaving enough distance for them to stare at each other.

And so, Ashwin filled Sivaangi about his shooting experience and what else he did at Bangalore. She in turn shared how her week went in detail while he stared at her with a fond smile, admiring her.

"Seri, amma ta inform paniya inga vara nu?" Ashwin asked on noticing the time.

"En purushan ah paka, en veetuku varathuku na yarta inform pananum?" Sivaangi said frowning at Ashwin before narrowing her gaze at him.

Ashwin watched his wife of seven months glaring at him. He mentally facepalmed himself and chided himself in mind before taking a sharp intake of breath and reached for her cheek.

"Adiyeh na apdi solala di. Odanae kovam padatha" Ashwin said pulling Sivaangi's cheek making her pout.

"Pinna ena, neenga shoot ku ponathu la irundhu amma veetla irundhutu ipo dhan ungala pakuren, namma veetuku varen. Inform paniya, permission vanguniya nu namma love pana time la keta mathiri inum ketutu irukinga, Ashwiney" Sivaangi said pushing Ashwin's hand off her cheek.

"Seri, ini apdi kekala, sorry Chellamma" Ashwin said leaning forward and pecking Sivaangi's cheek before pulling back and look at her, "Okay ah?"

Sivaangi shook her head sideways making Ashwin raise his eyebrow at her, "Aprm?"

"Inga va Ashwiney" Sivaangi said tugging Ashwin's t-shirt pulling him closer before crashing her lips on his.

Ashwin smiled against Sivaangi's lips before taking her parted petals between his. He cradled her face between his palms while she placed one hand on top of his while the other was buried in his locks.

As he deepened the kiss, she moaned giving him a chance to explore her sweet cavern, his one hand dropping down roaming her body before settling on her waist squeezing it teasingly while the other hand held her face firmly. Her own hands were buried in his locks pulling him closer.

They kissed each other with equal fervor. A week of separation from each other caught up and they poured their feelings into the kiss. They panted when they broke the kiss due to lack of air.

Without wasting any time, he leaned in and peppered kisses along her jawline before trailing his lips down her neck while she arched her neck back making way for his lips to mark her as his as she pulled him closer.

Just as his hand was about to slip inside her top, her stomach grumbled loudly making the duo pull apart. Panting the duo stared at each other in silence without batting eyes before a mirroring grin broke out on their face.

Sivaangi giggled sheepishly while Ashwin shook his head with a smile as his fingers stroked her cheek. He leaned in and placed a quick kiss on her lips before pulling away and tugged her strands behind her ear.

"Pasikudha ma?" Ashwin asked as his finger rubbed the corner of her lips.

"Ama, Ashwineyy. Evening irundhu onum sapdala" Sivaangi said with a sad pout and added, "Aludhu aludhu kannu eriyuthu"

Ashwin's fingers traced Sivaangi's cheek before trailing up to her puffy eyelids. She closed her eyes and he caressed her puffy eyelids, his eyes moistening up a bit on seeing his girl.

Pulling back his fingers, Ashwin leaned in and kissed Sivaangi's left eye softly before kissing her right one. He then pressed his lips against her forehead before pulling back from her. She opened her eyes and smiled widely at him before pouting.

"Pasikudhu Ashwineyy"

"Seri, ena sapdura? Fridge la dinner ku pana mushroom gravy iruku. Heat pani chapathi podava?" Ashwin asked pulling Sivaangi's cheek softly.

"Vendam" Sivaangi said shaking her head sideways.

"Pinna?"

"Enaku nee seira dosai um thakali chutney um podhum, Ashwineyy. Itha dhan na romba miss panen" Sivaangi said grinning at Ashwin.

"Apo ena miss panla?" Ashwin scoffed.

"Hehe unayum dhan miss panen, Ashwineyy" Sivaangi giggled and pecked her Valarndha kolandhai's cheek on seeing his gruff face.

"Poi soladha di" Ashwin said pulling Sivaangi's nose and added, "Aprm Pinocchio mathiri mooku valara poguthu"

"Haiyada. Neenga matum ena? Oorla irundhu vandhadhum enaku oru call paninga la? Okanthu onga Play Station ooda dhana romance panitu irundhinga." Sivaangi said narrowing her eyes at him.

"Seri, seri. Endhri. Kitchen ku povom" Ashwin said clearing his tone making Sivaangi laugh.

"Ena thookitu po, Ashwineyy" Sivaangi said garlanding her arms around Ashwin's neck and pressed herself against him.

Ashwin smiled fondly and picked Sivaangi in his arms in bridal style. He placed her down on the kitchen island, pecked her lips and went to gather ingredients for Thakali chutney.

They smiled and conversed as Ashwin roughly cut tomatoes before joining Sivaangi in peeling the skin off onions. Half an hour later, Ashwin moved back and forth between the table and closet along with Sivaangi to feed her as she placed the pressed clothes from side table inside the closet.

By the time they hit the bed, it was one in morning. Sivaangi snuggled into Ashwin's embrace and threw her arm and leg over him. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him. He stroked her hair until she fell asleep and kissed her head before he closed his eyes and slipped into peaceful sleep.
