Chapter 14 - Proposal?
It had been 4 months since Aaron announced the new tournament to the people of Auran, and this tournament was going to begin in two weeks. It had been dubbed the Mystery Tournament by the media as no one knew much about it, all they knew is where they had to go and to standby for further explanations.
The people of Auran were training well, both old and young were joining in all of them wanting a piece of those who had hurt their prince and advisors. Yes the kingdom had been told of the crimes against their prince and advisors, the people had grown to love the newest people in the kingdom and they were angry when they heard the truth. They had all been told the names of those who betrayed them, and they were all hoping they came to this tournament so they would all be defeated.
Many people had signed up for this tournament, most people wanted the chance to participate in a tournament that no one knows much about, some what to take part to show they are the best even when they don't know much and others just wanted to find out more about the place where it is taking place.
A month after the announcement to the people of Auran Ashton went before them and informed all of the people that he, as well as most of his advisors will be taking part in the tournament for sure, even signing the contract in front of all of them. All of those who had seen Ashton battle and all of the pokemon he holds knew he was going to be very hard to beat.
Arceus and Ashton had now been together for 6 months and things were going strong, but there was one question that Ashton was scared to ask, so he went to speak to his father. To him the tournament came second to this problem of his.
"Father, can I speak to you?" Ashton asked, he knew he could speak to his father at any time but because of his training to be a prince he learned more manners and how to approach people correctly. He was no longer the clueless and clumsy boy he once was.
"Ashton you know you can speak to me whenever you want, you come first. Now what is it?" Aaron said as he put down the scroll of paper he had been reading, while Ashton moved over to sit beside his father on the couch.
"It is about Arceus." Ashton said, he wanted to draw this out as long as he could.
"Are two having problems?" Aaron asked, he could see how the two of them loved one another greatly. It was a shock to think that they were having some problems.
"What, no, nothing like that!" Ashton said, quick to get that thought out of his fathers mind.
"Then what is it?" Aaron asked confused.
"I was looking in the library and I came across some history on this place, it said that the prince of Auran was to be married for their 18th birthday. Is that true?" Ashton asked, he would not be mad if his father hid this from him.
"Yes it is, but I didn't tell you because your relationship with Arceus was so new and I didn't want to pressure you into asking her. I don't really know why this rule is in place but it has been that way since Auran was discovered, and it has been followed each time their is a new prince, the same thing would be done if there was a princess born to the throne." Aaron explained, hoping that his son was not going to be mad with him.
Ashton sighed before reaching into his pocket and pulled out a box. Arceus had shown him her human form and since they had gotten together she had spent more time in this form then in her pokemon one, it took awhile for the people to know who she was at first they thought that Ashton was cheating on her with a human. When they all learned the truth they apologised to him and to her.
"That's the thing, I don't mind asking her, I want to." Ashton paused to open the box and revealed a lovely silver ring with a diamond in the centre, smaller diamonds were surrounding the larger one with amber gemstones on the outer edge.
"Is that...?" Aaron trailed of when he looked at the ring, before looking back up to the face of his blushing son.
"Yes, when I read the law I had this made for her, I have no problem marrying her but I am worried. We have only been together for around 6 months, what if she doesn't want to marry yet?" Ashton asked.
"Don't you worry, some of the past princes and princess's got married only a month after first meeting their intended at least me and you got to choose our brides. And of course she will say yes, remember she has been waiting for her whole life she is not going to reject you no matter how long you have been together." Aaron said, reassuring his son.
"You sure?" Ashton asked, blushing brightly.
"Yes I am sure, you have nothing to worry about." Aaron said hugging his son.
"Thanks father, do you think there is a chance mom's alive?" Ashton asked, he read the past of Sir Aaron. They never found the body of an Arceus, and there have been records of a new legendary pokemon being created even when the previous one is still alive. If his mother even died for a minute then a new Arceus would have been created, it didn't mean that his mother was dead now.
"There is a chance son, they never found the body. And besides a new Arceus could come forth even when the previous is still alive, if my wife/your mother died for even a second then a new one would come forth. I am hoping that she will come with the tournament, if she is alive then she will think we are both dead and stay away from here, if she hears of this tournament then there is a chance she will come here." Aaron explained.
"This was the real reason you had the tournament, to see if mom would come back." It was a question it was a statement.
"Partly that and partly to get revenge on those who betrayed you and the others." Aaron said with a smile, thinking that he may have a chance of meeting his love once more.
"Will you die, in years to come will you die?" Ashton asked, he didn't want to have his father leave him. His friends are not pokemon so they will live a long life and die when they are supposed to.
"No I won't, remember I was married and mated to an Arceus she turned me into a pokemon so I could be with her in pokemon form as well as in human form. It is very hard to kill an Arceus remember, if you don't show the signs of becoming a pokemon then your girlfriend will make you one so you can be with her." And with that Aaron glowed, revealing a male Arceus in the place of his father.
"Why didn't you tell me this?" Ashton asked, he was not mad but he had believed that everyone die except he and Arceus, and that he wouldn't have anyone else.
"I don't really know, but now you do. I just hope my wife is still out there, I can't love another so if she is dead then I will live with you and your partner. That is a good thing but I want my wife back." Aaron said, Ashton hugged his father tightly.
"Not to worry, something tells me that she is alive and on her way. Something tells me that we are going to be a family once more as a mother, father, son and daughter in law." Ashton said with a smile. They shared one more hug before Ashton moved to the door, as he opened the door he heard his father.
"Maybe your right, something is coming and it is something good." Aaron said with a smile on his face, Ashton smiled at the idea of his father becoming happy once more and left to ask his girlfriend an important question.
Arceus was the one to spot him first. "Ashton!" She yelled getting his attention.
"Arceus." Ashton replied hugging her and pecking her lips, before pulling her at arms length. "There is something I want to ask you, will you come with me?" Ashton said, he may have sounded so cool but he was so nervous.
"Of course." Arceus was concerned that something was wrong with either her or their relationship, but she hoped that wasn't the case.
They walked out to the palace gardens, it was a calm and gentle place with all kinds of flowers, large trees with blossoms and fruits on them, a large fountain in the middle of the garden and plenty of wildlife, as well as this if you look out from the end of the garden you can see the whole of Auran. It was one of the most beautiful sights in all of Auran.
"What's going on Ash?" Arceus asked, and Ashton could hear the nervousness and fear in her voice.
"Arceus I love you more then anything, we have been destined for one another since the day of our births and I couldn't be happier. You have helped me in so many ways since the first time that I met you, and in return I have come when you called, and now here we are. Me a prince to a hidden kingdom and you my girlfriend that I love very much. Will you do me the honour of marrying me, and becoming the future queen of Auran?" Ashton asked, he knelt down into the dry grass and took out the box, he opened it and heard her gasp as she looked to the ring.
"Of course I will!" Arceus screamed, luckily she was in her human form as she jumped onto Ashton and kissed him. When they pulled away from one another he slipped the gorgeous ring onto her left ring finger, a sign that she was not his and his alone. "What made you ask me?" Arceus asked, she knew he meant it with all his heard but she wanted to know what brought it on.
"An old book I read, apparently the princes and princess's of this kingdom have to be married before they turn 18 and I am nearly 18. I have wanted to marry you for a long time so I had no troubles thinking it over." Ashton explained, glad that his girl... no fiancée was not mad with him.
"Well I am glad you found that, but why did you go see your father?" Arceus asked with a smile.
"How did you know?" Ashton asked, he was shocked how perceptive she was.
"Because of the direction you came from, the only thing around that corner is your fathers room." She said with a teasing look on her face.
"Well I was scared that I was going to ask you too early into our relationship, I went to him to see if he could tell me things to encourage me or not. Then we got onto the topic of my mother, we both think she is still alive and will make her way here for the tournament. How awesome is that, I may have my mother in two weeks time?" Ashton said with an excited tone.
"Yes, but how when I am here?" Arceus asked, she did not want to destroy the hope of the two men who she cared for dearly.
"If my mother stopped breathing for even a second then the next Arceus would have been created, you did not come after my mother there was more before you. The others are all dead that is true, but there is a chance my mother is still alive, they never found a body for her but for other Arceus' they have." Ashton explained.
"So your telling me that even though I am here then there is a chance your mother is alive?" She asked just to clarify. Ash is right there were others before her but after Ash's mother, and bodies for all of them have been found, however there was never a body found for Ash's mother. They were both right, there was a chance.
"Yes I am." Ashton said with a bright smile on his face.
"Then I will be honoured to meet her." Arceus said with a smile on her face, they shared a quick kiss before leaving to tell the others of the new discoveries.
