You groaned as you felt pain spreading through your chest. You slowly fluttered your eyes to find yourself lying on a bed in a room of the helicarrier that looked to be the infirmary. You looked at your arms and found tubes sticking out of them. You ripped out the tubes and looked down and found your chest bandaged up. Apparently, SHIELD agents didn't know that Asgardians could heal themselves as long as they were still alive.

You were thankful that the doctors were able to repair your heart before it stopped beating, but the bandages weren't necessary. You took off the bandages and covered your exposed chest with your hospital gown.

You climbed out of the bed and looked in a dresser that was nearby. Inside was the normal clothes of a SHIELD agent. You quickly changed into the clothes and placed your gun in its holster. You then started making your way out of the room. You walked into another patient room and you saw Natasha sitting there.

"Hey," you said coming in and sitting on the bed, acting as though everything was normal, while Nat gave you an extremely shocked face. "What the hell are you doing out of bed?" she asked, standing up.

"What do you mean?" you questioned. "You were just stabbed through the heart! No one thought that you were going to make it," she told you, giving you a skeptical look as if to make sure it was really you. "I'm fine, Nat, really. It's the Asgardian in me," you responded. She still looked unsure, looking over your body for any signs that you ripped stitches, even though you knew the wounds had completely healed.

"Whose room is this anyway?" you asked, looking around for the patient who should be in the bed. "Mine," you heard a familiar voice say as the door to the bathroom opened. "Clint," you said with a smile as you stood up.

He smiled back and walked over to you and pulled you into a hug. You smiled a breath of relief and he said, "Awe, were you worried about me?" "Shut up. You should be resting. Loki had been mind-controlling you," you told him. "You're one to talk, apparently Loki nearly ripped your heart in half with his scepter, and here you are up and walking around," he responded.

"I'm Asgardian. You are only mortal," you replied. He gave you a small smirk and then your mind fluttered to Coulson -- the man who took you in. "How's Coulson?" you asked, worry filling your eyes.

You looked over at Nat and sadness filled her eyes as she told you, "He's gone, Y/N. The damage he received to his heart was too much for him to overcome. He passed away shortly after the agents found him and tried to save his life." You felt tears come to your eyes and you turned away from your friends, not wanting them to see you cry. Nat gave you a sympathetic look while Clint came over and hugged you, rubbing your back in a comforting way. "I'm sorry," he said softly, and you wiped your tears quickly, replying, "It's fine."

"Time to go," Steve said, coming into the room, looking at Natasha. His eyes found yours and he looked stunned. "You're alive?" he asked. You nodded your head and replied, "And as good as ever."

Steve gave you a look and asked, "How?" "She's Asgardian," Natasha replied for you, and you smiled at her before giving Steve a small shrug. "Where are we going?" you asked Steve. "I'll tell you on the way. Can you fly one of those jets?" Steve responded. "I can," Clint replied, speaking up. Steve looked at you and Nat, asking if Clint was alright to fly them. You both nodded your heads.

"You got a suit?" Steve asked. "Yeah," Clint replied. "Then suit up," Steve told him, before walking out. You gave Clint a small smile, before following after Steve. "Does this have anything to do with Loki? Is his army here?" you asked Steve.

"I don't know a lot, we just know where Loki is going to be," Steve replied. You nodded your head, and Steve looked at you for a moment. "Are you sure you're okay to fight. I mean, you can sit this one out if you want. No one will judge you," Steve stated, giving you a small smile. You returned the smile, and told him, "No, I'm fine, really. Besides, it's my duty to also protect Midgard, since I am part of the team. Plus, I have known Loki since we were only children. I need to be there for this, whether he ends up surviving or not."

Steve nodded his head and at that moment, Nat and Clint joined the two of you, ready to go. The two of you walked to a jet. A man was guarding the jet, but Steve convinced him to let the four of you take it.

Clint began flying the plane to New York, where Steve told you Loki would be located at Stark Tower. The plan was that Tony would go in and talk to Loki while you all arrived in the quinjet. After a little while, Nat said, "Stark, we are heading Northeast." "What did you stop for drive-through? Swing up PARK, I'm gonna lay them out for you," he responded, clearly struggling with something.

Clint flew the quinjet to the Tower, and Loki was there, battling Thor. Happiness overfilled you as you saw. He was alright. In an instant, Loki blasted his scepter, and the  plane caught on fire. Clint tried to maneuver the plane to land softer but eventually is crashed into the street.

You all got out and began running through the streets of New York, battling the Chitauri. You all split off, saving people from the Chitauri. But, after a little while, you all found your way back to each other. The four of you continued to fight, but the Chitauri had surrounded you all. It was almost too much for you all to handle, but then Thor came, blasting them all with his lightning.

This allowed for a brief moment of a break during the battle. Thor looked at you, happiness filling him, as he saw that you were okay. He hugged you and you hugged back as Steve asked him, "What's the story upstairs?"

Thor pulled away and stroked your cheek quickly and softly before turning back to Steve and explaining, "The powers surrounding the cube are impenetrable." "Thor is right, we need to deal with the army," you heard Tony say as he came close to the rest of the team. "How do we do this?" Nat asked. "As a team," you stated, giving the group a small smile. "I have unfinished business with Loki," Thor stated. "Yeah, get in line," Clint responded.

"No, Loki is going to keep this fight focused on us, and that is what we need. Without him, the Chitauri will run rampant through the streets," you explained, and before anyone could say anything. The sound of a motorbike approached. You all looked to see Bruce there.

"So, this all seems horrible," he stated. "I've seen worse," Nat replied, clearly talking about him changing into the Hulk on the helicarrier. "Sorry," Bruce stated. "No, we could use a little worse," Nat told him. "Tell Banner to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you," Tony said over the intercom. Within seconds, Tony was leading a huge Chitauri Leviathan to the team.

"Bruce now might be a really good time for you to get angry," you stated. "That's my secret. I'm always angry," Bruce replied before morphing into the Hulk. The Hulk quickly began fighting the Leviathan while the rest of you fought off the Chitauri.

The battle continued on like this for a while. You and Thor teamed up to take out more of the Leviathans, before wiping out quite a few Chitauri. Then there was sudden news of a nuke headed towards New York. You all scrambled to come up with a plan, but Tony made the decision to drive the nuke through the portal. Everyone knew it was a one-way trip, but you still had hope.

You all watched as Tony forced the nuke the portal, and you gripped onto Thor's arm as you waited for Tony to come back through the portal. You all couldn't risk the explosion coming through the portal, however, and Nat had to close it.

You dropped your head and let out a sigh, as Thor slid your hand down his arm to hold your hand. He gave you a small squeeze. "Son of a gun!" you suddenly heard Steve say and you looked up to see Tony coming back down towards the ground. You smiled and gripped Thor's hand. But, then you realized that Tony wasn't slowing down. "Thor, he isn't slowing down," you told him, and he took a step as he swung his hammer, ready to save Tony, but he didn't release your hand.

The Hulk suddenly came, catching Tony, and laying him on the ground. You all ran over, and Thor ripped off Tony's mask. He wasn't responding. You turned your head and buried your face in Thor's shoulder, and he wrapped an arm around your waist. Another friend is gone.

The Hulk roared loudly and Tony bolted awake. You looked at him and a smile graced your face. "What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me," Tony said, and you laughed. "We won," Steve told him, looking up at the sky. Tony let out a small breath of relief, before saying, "Alright, hey, alright. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I want to try it."

You chuckled and replied, "We still have to take care of Loki." Tony looked disappointed before saying, "And then shawarma after." You nodded your head and Steve helped Tony stand up. You all made your way into Stark Tower and found Loki lying on the ground. The team surrounded him, Thor still holding your hand, and holding you close.

"If it's all the same to you, I'll have a drink now," Loki stated, looking at Tony. Thor hesitantly released your hand before handcuffing and muzzling Loki. You all then made your way out of the tower and to a blocked off part of New York.

The rest of the team talked to each other while Thor pulled you to the side. Before you could say anything, Thor pulled you into a passionate kiss. You gasped into the kiss, shocked at first, but then allowing yourself to melt into the kiss. You heard the rest of the team whistling and cheering, but you and Thor both blocked them out.

Thor let his hands travel to your waist, and you let your hands run through his long hair. Your hands fell to his chest and you pulled away. "Wait, Thor, what about Jane," you asked. Thor looked into your eyes, not knowing what to say. Jane was definitely a very special mortal, and he had promised her that he would come back for her, but she wasn't you.

You let out a small sigh as you awaited Thor's response. "Come back to Asgard with me," he told you. You shook your head slightly and replied, "I can't Thor." "Please," he begged. You shook your head softly, looking down. You returned your gaze back to Thor's blue eyes.

"You need to figure out what's between you and Jane," you told him, and he looked at you confused. "But, right now, Loki is the top priority. Do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of both Midgard and Asgard," you stated. He placed his hands on your cheeks and pulled you into another kiss. You wanted to melt into it, but you couldn't. Not until you knew he felt the same way you felt about him, about you and not Jane.

You pulled away again, but let your forehead fall against his. "I can't Thor," you told him. "Why not?" he asked, keeping both of his hands pressed against your cheeks. "Because of Jane," you replied. "I love you," he told you, brushing his thumb over your right cheek a few times.

You looked into Thor's eyes, hope filling your own, but you couldn't help but ask, "Do you also love her?" Thor looked stunned for a moment. He couldn't lie to you, and the truth was that he didn't know how he felt about her. You gave him a small smile before placing a soft kiss on his lips. "Go back to Asgard. Figure out who you want to be with Thor, and if you decided that it's me, then you know where to find me," you told him.

He pulled you into a tight embrace, and whispered in your ear, "I will see you again soon, Y/N." You nodded your head, refusing to let the tears that were starting to form fall. "I do love you," he whispered. "I love you too," you replied.

Thor pulled away and then walked over to Loki. He and Loki were sent back to Asgard along with the Tesseract. Thor gave you a small, sad smile before disappearing. Nat and Clint came up to you, along with the rest of your team, your friends. "What was that about?" she asked, noting your sad face. "He was just saying goodbye," you replied.

"Why didn't you go with him?" Steve asked. "He needed to figure out some things," you replied. "Like whether or not he loves you?" Nat asked and you nodded your head. "Forgive me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't you be with him if he's trying to figure that out?" Tony asked.

"Normally, yes, but in this case, he needs to figure out whether he loves me, or another mortal," you explained, and realization dawned on everyone's face, even Clint who previously had not known about your and Thor's relationship. "Wait, he knows your feelings for him and he actually has to think about it? No mortal woman can even compare to you. Except you Nat," Clint stated, making you laugh and Nat rolled her eyes, ignoring Clint's playful comment.

Tony pulled you into a hug and asked, "You know what will make you feel better?" Tony asked. "What?" you questioned. "Shawarma," Tony replied. You laughed as Tony pulled out of the hug, and wrapped an arm around your shoulder. "Alright, fine, Tony. Let's go get some shawarma," you responded. Tony looked very excited as you all made your way to the shawarma joint. Everyone told jokes and it made you feel so much better.

Before, when Thor left, you had no one. Now, you had the best friends in the world, and they made you laugh so hard you were crying. You knew they would always be there for you, and they were who got you through the day.
