"Watch out!" you yelled to your friend Clint Barton. He jumped out of the way of something that was thrown at him. You had met Clint soon after you joined SHIELD. He was really nice to you and helped you gather your bearings. The two of you had become pretty good friends really fast, and seeing this, Director Fury decided to make the two of your partners.

Clint was hesitant to accept the offer at first because he liked to work alone most of the time, but he loved being around you. You were the only person in SHIELD, besides Natasha Romanoff that really understood him.

A little while after meeting Clint, you met Natasha as well, and after Clint helped break the ice between the two of you, the two of you became good friends as well. The three of you would always go on missions together, like the mission you were currently on. You had been sent to an undercover base where scientists were working on crazy new technology that they were planning on using to take over the world. Your mission was to gain intel on the technology.

There was only one problem, Natasha was working on a different mission right now, and you and Clint couldn't watch everything by yourselves. You had snuck into the base successfully and had been gaining intel by eavesdropping on the scientists.

Everything was going fine when someone snuck up behind Clint. You saw the man out of the corner of your eye, and warned Clint right as the man threw something at him. That was it. Your cover was blown. You punched the man, hard, knocking him out, and you and Clint made eye contact with each other. Great.

As the scientists all began to walk towards the commotion, you and Clint prepared yourselves to fight your way out of the place, but you both were overwhelmingly outnumbered. You and Clint began running away from the scene. The mission had gone South, but either way, you knew you needed to eliminate the technology because whatever it was, from what you heard, the scientists were not planning on using it for good.

You quickly lit a lighter and threw it near some gasoline. You and Clint picked up the pace as you ran inside the quinjet. Clint quickly started it and raised it off the ground and began flying away, right before the entire place blew up.

You felt bad about the people you killed. The mission was to gather intel, not kill people. But, you knew that if you left the scientists alive, then other people would die, and those people would be innocents. "Agent Y/L/N? Is everything okay?" you heard Director Fury ask over the intercom. "Things went South, sir. We had to get out of there before we could learn a lot about the technology, but I eliminated the threat," you replied.

"Okay, can you and Agent Barton meet me at Project PEGASUS?" Fury questioned. You looked over at Clint and he nodded his head. "Yeah, we'll be there soon," you replied. Project PEGASUS was a remote research facility that contained an energy source known as the Tesseract.

You and Clint soon arrived and he landed the jet before you and he entered the building immediately finding Director Fury and Agent Hill. "What's going on, sir?" you asked as Fury led you all to the room where the Tesseract was being held in.

"The Tesseract has activated itself and opened a portal through space," Agent Hill responded. You and Clint looked at each other as he asked, "So what does that mean?" Before anyone had a chance to answer, though, there was a flash of light, as someone came through the portal.

You looked up to see none other than Loki standing there. You looked at Loki stunned that he was now on Midgard. "Sir, please put the scepter down," Fury stated. Loki looked at the scepter for a moment before sending a blast of energy in Fury's direction. You all dodged it, and Clint began to attack. "Clint, wait," you said, trying to warn him. No one knew how powerful Loki was except for you.

It was too late though. Loki used his scepter to take control of Clint and a couple of agents in the room. Fury tried to make a move, but Clint, under Loki's control, shot him. Loki finally laid eyes on you.

"Y/N, what a surprise," Loki said with a cheeky smile. "What are you doing here, Loki?" you asked. "Mortals are made to be ruled, my dear Y/N, and I intend to rule them," Loki responded, walking closer to you. "Really, Loki? You already tried ruling one planet, look how well that turned out. Do you really think this time will be any different?" you asked him, keeping a straight face.

Loki paused for a moment before smirking. He then hit you in the head with his scepter, hard. You fell to the ground and felt yourself starting to slip into unconsciousness. You don't know how long you were on the ground, but after a moment, you felt someone shaking your shoulder.

"Agent Y/L/N, get up. Y/N, come on, this place is going to blow up any minute," Fury said, pulling you to your feet. You quickly tried to regain full consciousness as the two of you ran to a helicopter and tried to follow Loki. Loki saw the two of you though and using his scepter, shot the helicopter. You and Fury jumped before it crashed, but still, Loki was gone, and the only agents you knew were still alive were Agent Hill and the agents that Loki turned.

"What now, sir?" you asked. "Now, we assemble the Avengers," Fury replied. Fury had somewhat mentioned the Avengers plan to you but didn't say anything about it right now. Instead, he sent you to the SHIELD helicarrier saying, "I will gather the team. You get everyone on board the helicarrier and ready for the mission ahead of us."

You agreed and began walking towards a car that you would use to drive to the helicarrier, but before you left Fury told you, "By the way, Y/N, although you weren't a part of the original plan, I consider you part of the Avengers. Welcome to the team."

With those words, Fury walked off and you gave a small smile before driving to the helicarrier. You climbed aboard and did as Fury asked, excited to see who else was on this so-called team that you were now a part of.

~Time Skip: A little while later~

You had met most of the members of the team. Captain America, better known as Steve Rogers, was a sweet man who truly believed in doing things the old-fashioned way. He was always respectful, and although he was a leader, he also listened to what others said.

The other person you had met was Dr. Bruce Banner, a brilliant man who you learned that after a radioactive accident, had breathtaking anger issues. He was still probably the smartest man on the helicarrier, though, and would definitely prove to be useful.

The good news was that both Bruce and Steve seemed to really like you, something you didn't expect since you weren't exactly from their world. The other members of the team included Natasha, who you already knew and were good friends with, and Clint, who of course you knew, and intended to do everything you could to get out from under Loki's mind control. The last person was a man named Tony Stark, known as Iron Man. You hadn't met him yet.

It turns out you all worked really well together, and thanks to Bruce's tracking skills, you found out that Loki was in Stuttgart, Germany. You and the other two members of the assembling team, Bruce stayed behind, took a quinjet to the location.

When you all arrived, you saw Loki standing in front of a crowd of people who were all on their knees. Steve quickly dropped down to start fighting Loki and take the focus off the civilians. Since Natasha was flying the quinjet, you also dropped down. Loki had pushed Steve away for a moment, giving you an opportunity to attack.

You managed to jump on Loki, before flipping him over, landing him on his back. "Ah, Y/N, you never cease to impress me," Loki said snarkily. You rolled your eyes before continuing the fight. Suddenly, loud rock music started playing as a man in a flying suit arrived at the scene.

You immediately recognized the man as Iron Man and based off his entrance you already knew that you were going to like being around him. Loki surrendered, and you all took him aboard the quinjet, as a prisoner. You were all talking when thunder and lightning began forming around the quinjet. Loki immediately had a look of fear on his face, and realization dawned on you. Thor.

You weren't ready to see him. You still loved him dearly, and you knew that seeing him was only going to set you back to square one, erasing any progress you made of getting over him. The door to the quinjet opened, and in a moment Thor arrived and took Loki.

The good news is that Thor didn't see you. The bad news is that he stole your prisoner, so you knew that you were going to go after him. Tony and Steve were already on the job, and you knew that you should be down there helping, but you were frozen. "Y/N, are you okay?" Natasha asked you, and you looked at her.

"Yeah, it's just, uh, Thor and I have history," you replied. "What, ex-lovers?" she questioned. "More like unrequited love," you responded. "Well, then that's his loss," she told you. "Yeah, but as far as he's concerned we are still the best of friends, nothing more, nothing less," you explained.

"Well, if you want it to stay that way, then you should probably get down there," she told you. You thought about it for a moment, but ultimately decided that you needed to help your teammates, and face Thor.

You gave Nat a small smile before jumping out of the quinjet and landing near the site where the three men were fighting. You went to take a step closer, but there was a blast of energy created from Thor's hammer and Steve's shield. Everyone was blasted back. You stood up a few moments later and heard the three men talking. You walked out from behind the trees you had been hiding behind and your eyes finally landed on Thor.

He didn't see you at first, so you softly said, "Thor." He looked over towards you, and when he saw you the look on his face was priceless. Joy filled every cell in his body as he walked over to you and embraced you in the biggest hug.

"Y/N," he said softly, breathing in your scent. He had missed you way too much. He didn't think he was going to see you again. But, here you were, right in front of him. After a few moments, he pulled out of the hug and placed a hand on your cheek. You couldn't help but melt into it. "I can't believe you are here," he said with a large smile on his face.

You smiled back and at that moment, there were a million things you could have said to him, but you knew that he wouldn't say any of them back. Or at least you thought you knew, but you didn't really know. You didn't know what Thor had been thinking and feeling when he was stuck on Asgard. Only he knew that. But, he felt as though you would never feel the same for him.

After a moment of just staring into each other's eyes, you said, "Thor, Loki needs to come back with me and my team. But, you are welcome to join us." Thor hesitantly dropped his hand from your cheek, looking disappointed at the change of subject, but he nodded his head and agreed to the terms.

Steve and Tony got Loki while you and Thor boarded the quinjet. "Where do we go now?" Thor asked. "Back to the helicarrier," you replied. Thor looked at you, confused, so you explained, "It's like a really big airplane." He nodded his head, understanding a little more. You sat down on one of the seats and closed your eyes, leaning your head back. Little did you know, Thor was staring at you, memorizing every detail of your face, in case he ever had to leave your side again.
