Part 1, Chapter One

Eerie whispers reverberated in my mind. 'The universes,s,s,s needs you,u,u,u,u. Awaken,n,n,n,n!'

My eyes fluttered open, immediately singed by the bright morning light. Its unbearable intensity forced my eyes to squeeze shut, straining in attempting to adjust.

Deeply inhaling, my lungs expanded like a balloon; the air thickly flowing through my nose as my lungs deflated. I reached my arms behind my head and straightened my legs to stretch my stiff muscles.

The morning felt fresh and greeted me with its sunshine rays upon my face, brushing my cheeks as if to say hello. I smiled in return, feeling the deep rest I had endured.

I swiftly attempted to sit up. My head whacked a solid surface. Immediately dropping back onto the soft comfortable cushioning, my hand rose to the stinging area on my forehead. I opened my eyes.

A glass barrier separated me from the freedom of my movement.

My mind started to ponder. What is the meaning of this?

Attempting to recall any memories that would put the pieces of the puzzle together, nothing came to me. I met a dark abyss in the depths of my mind.

Confusion and panic settled in the pits of my stomach. My eyebrows danced, frowning and unfrowning, as I tried to grasp the odd situation I was met with. My heart raced in my chest; my breathing uneasy.

Had I become a danger? Did I harm someone? Was I held captive? Was I a prisoner?

The glass began to close in on me. My palms and forehead pricked with the threat of sweat.

Muffled clacks against a solid surface piqued my senses. They echoed distantly, implying a large area I was situated in.

Was this whom kept me restrained? Were they my captor? I shall make them pay if so. Or perhaps my blank memory should be considered, and I shall grasp my surroundings and escape, rather than wasting my time on something insignificant.

Closing my eyes, I concentrated upon my breathing. Adjusting my body to its original position, the heaving calmed, and my muscles relaxed.

I focused upon the clacks. They were like hooves. Perhaps it was a horse. Though there were only two legs, not four. It was not plausible to be four legged.

They abruptly halted, followed by whispering, barely audible with the barrier restricting it.

Did they speak to someone like me? Another captive, perhaps? Maybe this bright area held others like me under the high white ceiling.

The clacks began again, inclining in volume. They halted yet again, replaced with whispering. The clacks began and stopped multiple times, sounding distant then closer, before they halted in proximity.

Morphed mumbling was audible, with frequent hisses in the faint voice.

"Still breathing. Nothing seems abnormal. Skin is fine. Clothes are intact. All good. All checked. All done."

The voice sounded elegant yet deep. They spoke not of animalistic noises, so this creature was much alike me. It became plausible that I was held captive and restrained. By what, however, remained unanswerable so far.

The footsteps faded into nowhere. After I was sure that they weren't audible or would return, I flung open my eyelids.

With the urgent need to understand the situation, I turned my head to the side, squinting to obtain full focus upon a glass box near me.

I frowned upon seeing a boulder with part of a sword blade exposed, implying it deeply pierced the rock. It was not another like myself, but, a rock? And a sword? What is the meaning of this?

Left more confused, I turned to the other side, immediately blinded by intense light. Shielding my eyes from the rays cast through the tall glass windows that touched the towering ceiling, I examined what may assist in my understandings. It was a large room, swimming in pristine white, reflecting the natural lighting and illuminating the room unassisted. Paintings invisible from my distance and framed in gold, decorated the walls. The floors reflected like pure water. Decorated pillars and arches were like strong gods holding the white ceiling with their mighty strong arms.

Raising my body and leaning upon my elbows, I examined as far as the glass barrier allowed. Multiple glass cases were fixated amongst the room, encasing strange objects I couldn't identify from the distance I was at. It was clear that they varied in shape and size, implying that nothing was alike mine.

Closer to the glass barrier, I frowned, noticing holes directly above my head. It meant a weaker spot, allowing easier breakage. I couldn't be confined, but I had to be cautious not to cause disturbance or attention and be a danger. If I was to escape, it had to be swift.

Bundling my right fist and leaning all my weight upon my other elbow, I strongly thrust my fist to the glass. The solid surface shattered the moment my knuckles met the glass.

I sat up, revelling in my freedom. Shards glistened against my body, sliding away as I moved.

Swivelling my body to hang my legs over the edge, the remaining glass that pooled in my lap glittered to the floor, tinkling when they met the tiles. My white layered skirt, trimmed with golden swirl designs, fell gracefully around my legs, reflecting light in the most gorgeous and grand of ways. I slid my body from the place I had been laying upon, a solid high rectangle with bedding that supported my body.

My body trembled as though it was foreign to stand and place all its weight upon my feet. My knees buckled, sending my body to the ground. Instinctually, my hands flew in front of me, stopping my upper body from colliding with the ground. The heavy thud echoed through the room.

Putting strength into my hands and knees, I lifted myself from the ground. Using the rectangular structure for support, I leant my back and elbows upon it. Slowly gained strength and familiarity in my muscles with the ordinary movements, I turned my body around, replacing my elbows with my hands. Feeling the rough and smooth surface underneath my palms, I examined the white stone with veins of black running through it. I ran my fingertip along the angled edge, feeling the shiny smoothed surface that conflicted the roughness of stone.

I stepped backwards and turned to examine the room, nearly stumbling over a red rope that appeared from nowhere. Small golden pillars held up the rope, allowing it to hover and create a barrier.

I kneeled and crawled underneath the rope. I slowly stumbled my weak way towards the first glass box I had seen. After reaching its own rope barrier, I paused. Examining the sword and stone inside, I gaped at its glory. From what was visible, the thin and sharp silver reflected light in such a way it seemed to glow. The silver blade disappeared into an intricate gold handle, crafted with such fine detail I was sure roses covered the ends of the gold twisted handle. I was left feeling the need to reach out and run my fingertips along the detailing in appreciation of its magnificence.

The stone that supported its upright position was waist high alone, leaving the top of the glass to reach my head. The sword must have been decently long, as the top of the sword handle reached about the height of my chin.

I took a turn about the room, scanning the peculiar objects within the glass cases. I was gazing at a vase when I heard hurried footsteps. I whipped my head in the direction where the archway exited the room. Beings clad in dark blue and thick vests raced through it. Whatever they obtained on their body clattered as they ran.

I spun on my heels and bolted towards the windows. I shielded my head before I smashed into the glass and broke through. My feet thudded against the ground. I sprinted upon a solid grey surface beside a wide black strip with lines where objects whizzed past, leaving a swoosh sound in my ears.

The wind was loud and my hair flew behind me. Everything was a blur as I ran. I passed occasional beings that stared at me with furrowed brows, expressions easily captured in glimpses. I found a narrow place between two towering buildings and hid. I gathered my thoughts and felt an overwhelming amount of confliction. I had no idea where I was going or what to do, yet I needed to do something that kept me from what seemed to be the danger; the blue clad beings who ran at me before.

A being on a thin object with turning circles was coming from the other end of the narrow area. Their hair billowed behind them with their fast pace. When they were near, I grabbed the handles where they held it and forced it to a halt. Fear jolted in them as they immediately jumped off and froze. I let go, astounded by the reaction. The object, unable to support itself, fell to the ground with a clatter.

I gazed up at the being and examined their body. I observed my clothing, finding it a significant difference to what I had seen while running and what stood in front of me. I frowned, the thought that my difference spiked the frowns and stares I received. I whipped my head to the entrance of the area where I came from, hearing alarming wailing sounds that approached quickly.

I swiftly moved towards the being, curling my fingers around the material at their chest and pushing them against the wall. Their torso heaved underneath my fist where I held them firm. I needed to understand my surroundings and immediately.

A black object appeared between us. I gazed down at it, seeing a barrel.

I frowned at the sight and whacked the object with my free hand. A thunderous bang echoed down the area. The object fell and clanked against the ground. A sharp pain rose in my shoulder. I gazed down to see my skin wounded. Blood quickly trailed down to my arm before dripping off my clenched fist.

I gritted my teeth and glared at the being. I was inches from their face, their body shook, and their blue eyes glistened. They whimpered, their bottom lip quivering.

"Tell me where I stand!" I growled.

The being didn't move, so I shook their body. "Now!"

The deafening wailing rang in my ears. I snapped my head to their direction before bolting off to the end of the area where the being originally came from. I heard skidding before I disappeared around a corner and ran as fast and far as my legs allowed.

I halted, turning to behold a tall structure with a wooden rectangle in front, and multiple squares along the wall I witnessed. Glancing down at my red arm, I searched my surroundings before gazing back at the earthy orange structure. A being, holding a bag and silver objects that clinked in her hand, stepped out of the rectangle. She turned around and jolted when she noticed my presence, clutching her chest from the shock.

"Can I help you?" A frown immediately formed as she studied the state of the glistening red trailed down my arm. "You okay?"

The woman was beautiful. Her eyes were dark, and her skin chocolate. Her hair was curly and voluminous, such a beautiful being to behold.

I shook my head. "I am greatly not."
