CHAPTER 7

Banner instantly got to work.

'I don't mean to be a bother, but what are you doing exactly?' I had to question, curiosity got the better of me.

Banner looked up at me, who stood in front a scientific computer that was connected to a metal ball with glowing blue lights, radiating electricity to a weird looking gold thing and some other orange glow thing. 'I am trying to locate where the Tesseract is with a rough tracking algorithm that is based on cluster recognition to rule out a few places.'

I raised an eyebrow in both confusion and impressiveness. 'Sounds very scientific.'

Banner exposed his palms and slightly shrugged his shoulders. 'Well I am a scientist, physicist, and a medical doctor.'

I gave a side smile in fascination. 'Interesting.'

I decided to ask him many questions on what he was doing and what objects did and what they were called. I didn't even remember a single name or thing since every answer Banner gave was drowned in science jargon.

After examining what he was doing for a while, my legs became a little tired and I had grown bored. I went and retrieved the chair and my phone from my room, getting guidance from my guards.

When I came back, I set my chair out of the way and rested my legs.

Banner continued to work but questioned me. 'So who are those guys that follow you around? Are you some sort of a rage monster that can snap at any moment too?'

I giggled. 'No. I'm just some threat to the world at the moment. No one knows who I am and what I can do, but from what they've seen, I'm no average human. So Fury and Americas Department of Defence have agreed to keep me hostage while under surveillance and kept watch by those men. Only until Fury's found answers I can have my freedom if I'm not a major threat. And I know I'm not, but when they somehow get those answers I'm set free, I'll live just like humans do.'

I lent my elbows against my knees, holding my phone in both hands. 'They kept watch of me for a while, seeing what I'd do.' I chuckled. 'Then brought me here.'

Banner took his glasses off and had dropped his mouth a little, most likely shocked. 'You're just like me. You're - you're kept under constant watch because they never know if you'll snap at any moment and cause chaos. But trust me Rosalie, you'll never get to live like humans do and avoid anything that makes you turn green or, or do what you do. You know why, cause they always find you. No matter how isolated you make yourself, they keep coming back. They know exactly where you are but don't let you know that. They keep their distance until they want to lead you somewhere to say they need you.' Banner seemed exasperated.

I frowned. 'But I'm not some monster or magical human that would kill random people. What do you mean by turning green anyway?'

Banner shook his head. 'You'll find out one way or another.'

I looked to the ground, curious but knowing he didn't want to tell me. 'I guess I'll find out who I am one way or another too.'

I looked at Banner and questioned. 'So what's the go with this place. I understand you're finding this Tesseract thing, but what's the significance of it?'

Banner sighed, put his glasses back on and continued working. 'The Tesseract is admitting weak amounts of gamma radiation by which S.H.E.I.L.D wants me to trace since I know gamma radiation well and no one else can trace it. And if we don't find the Tesseract in time, the world could face a global catastrophe. The potential energy that the Tesseract can admit could wipe out the entire planet.'

I raised my eyebrows and widened my eyes in shock. 'Wipe out the planet?'

Banner nodded in response.

I rested a finger on my lips, looking in the distance in thought. The glass window at the opposite side to me looked out to the sky. It was night, so I had been here for a while. I suppose I woke up at a late hour and things happened since then.

I sat straight in my chair, grabbing the corner of the first layer on my skirt. I bent the material so the gold swirl design shone in the light.

I heard multiple footsteps to left were the door was. A window on the door and the wall next to it allowed us to see who was walking past. Banner looked up as about 12 SHEILD police surrounded an interestingly dressed man who was cuffed at the hands.

He had dark hair that reached his shoulders. He had rather pale skin and wore green and black leather with gold metal accented clothes, completed with a cape. He seemed to have armour that matched and somewhat blended in with his ordinary clothing.

He met Banner's eyes and smirked at him in an evil way. He had a strange tone to his blue eyes. As he walked away with the men surrounding him, banner took his glasses off and rubbed his eyes.

I assumed he had been a little exhausted and tired from working so much.

We both went up to the bridge. There, Natasha and Rogers were sitting down, looking at screens on the edge of the table. A new man that seemed to be dressed similar as the one who walked past before, only with a red cape, stood, looking down in thought. He seemed shaken and a little saddened. Banner and I stood up and observed our own.

Rogers looked at me with confusion.

Natasha had seen his expression and answered his question. 'Steve, Rosalie. Rosalie, Steve Rogers. Also known as Captain America.'

I nodded shyly in Steve's direction as he greeted me with 'ma'am'. We all went back to watching our screens. The man from before was in a glass cage, free of cuffs. Fury was making conversation with him, interrogating him as he explained what the cage did. With the press of a button, he could send the cage with the man to free fall to meet the earth in an unpleasant way.

After Fury said what he needed, he left the man to be.

The screens went blank and Banner crossed his arms, commenting. 'He really grows on you, doesn't he?'

Steve spoke in a serious tone. 'Loki's gonna drag this out, so, Thor, what's his play?'

Thor broke himself away from his position and thoughts and informed us. 'He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract.'

Steve was surprised. 'An army? from outer space?'

Banner clicked. 'So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for.'

Thor frowned, questioning. 'Selvig?'

Banner answered his question, assuming he didn't know him. 'He's an astrophysicist.'

'He's a friend.' Thor corrected him as his association with the guy, having concern as to what he was doing with this Loki guy. I was piecing together that it was the man who had walked past Banner's lab.

Natasha explained to Thor. 'Loki has him under some kind of spell. Along with one of ours.'

Steve became serious about the situation. 'I wanna know why Loki let us take him in. He's not leading an army from here.'

Banner quickly added. 'I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him.'

Thor warned Banner. 'Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he his my brother.'

I suddenly tuned out of the conversation. Hearing Thor's words made me think. Loki is of Asgard? And Thor's brother? That sounded awfully familiar to me. That's when it clicked. These are the God's that live in Asgard. Thor and Loki were brothers. Although Loki was adopted, but they're from Asgard. Thor was also the one who came to earth not too long ago as well. Now both those God's are here on earth.

That gave me an idea.

Since Loki wasn't occupied with anyone, I got walked out from the bridge, no one noticing me since I wasn't even involved in the conversation. I hadn't even noticed but a new guy and Coulson had walked in.

On my way to finding Loki, which was a horrible mess, I passed Nick. He asked where I was going, I replied, saying I was only going for a walk to stretch my legs.

I eventually found the place where Loki was, taking me a while but I managed to get there.

I opened the doors, pressing a button. Loki had already turned around and looked at me, as if he knew I was there. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, he was the God of mischief and used magic.

He frightened me a little, but I needed a few answers.

I walked up the stairs and to the glass, shaking just a little. 'So, Loki. I here you're from Asgard. What's it like there?'

Loki chuckled as if that question was stupid. 'It's a horrible place.'

I frowned. 'Oh. Not the answer I was expecting.'

Loki stood from his seat and walked to the glass. He stood a fair height above me, making me feel intimidated as he looked down upon me.

I nervously laughed. 'Don't do that.'

Loki tilted his head as if he was confused. 'Do what?'

I rolled my eyes, knowing he was messing around. He examined me, taking in the outfit I wore.

Loki started walking away. 'You look as if you come from Asgard yourself, so what makes you ask?'

I laughed. 'I may look it, but I do not know of it.'

Loki turned and frowned at me, his blue eyes piercing into my soul. 'You have no memory.'

He smiled and chuckled in an evil way, as if that was hilarious to him. I began to feel my palms sweat. This God knew what he was doing, and it scared me.

Loki sat down on his seat again, leaning a hand on his knee, observing me once more. 'You only came here for answers that lead to your past, but all you got was fear. You're afraid of me, aren't you?'

My eyes widened with complete fear. I was asking questions from the wrong person. I was messing with the wrong God.

Loki chuckled again, giving his evil side smile. 'That's what I thought. You're weak and vulnerable. You have nowhere to go. Nothing to live for. No family. Why even bother siding with the humans, when you can side with me.'

I scoffed. 'And what? Be your pretty little slave? I don't think so.'

Loki moved his head to the side. 'What a loss.'

He had directed my turndown as a loss. It was no loss to me. Being a slave of Loki's meant I couldn't find answers of my past, and that's not what I wanted.

I knew Loki wasn't going to cooperate with me, so I turned on my heels and walked down the stairs, opening the doors. I turned back to see Loki watching me depart, grinning in victory of his own. I rolled my eyes and turned around again, continuing as the doors closed behind me.

I walked passed Natasha on my way to Banners lab. She looked at me with a little confusion and worry.

I eventually found the lab, discovering Banner and the new guy with a short, neatly shaven beard. They were working together it seemed. They both looked up at me, Banner greeting me with a warm smile and a hi.

The new man looked at me with familiarity. 'Ah, yes, the Ancient Museum Collection.' He pointed to me as he dialled a few things on a transparent screen. 'I've read all about you lately. You're a fascinating girl.'

I shook my head and raised an eyebrow, looking to Banner for answers. 'Who is this guy?'

The man answered that for himself. 'Tony Stark, Iron man.'

I frowned. 'Iron man? What kind of a name is that?'

'A spectacular and significant one.' Tony answered with cockiness and pride.

I rolled my eyes. I walked over to my chair, picking up my phone and moved the chair to the window near the gold sceptre. I could've chosen to sit at the opposite window, but this one faced frontwards of the helicarrier.

I sat down and made myself comfortable. As I stared out the window, Tony and Banner started discussing science things. I didn't need to listen or be involved. It didn't quite interest me and I got bored of it quickly.

I went on my phone to check if Shelly had contacted me. She hadn't, so I sent her a message asking how her and James were travelling.

She replied, explaining that she had taken time off from work and was looking after James for me. SHIELD was kind enough to lend her enough money to pay the expenses when needed, which is the only reason she could take time off work. They were both travelling quite well.

I had sighed a little with relaxation, knowing James and Shelly were okay.

A zap of electricity came from next to me as Tony prodded Banner's side with a small stick that had a ball attached to the end of it. Banner cried out with a loud and annoyed ow, indicating to Tony that he didn't appreciate that.

Tony looked closely at Banner. 'Nothing?'

Steve suddenly walked in, all serious as usual. 'Hey! Are you nuts?'

Tony looked to Steve and replied. 'True Sam.' He then looked back at Banner. 'You really have got a kid on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?'

Steve was unimpressed at Tony's words and actions. 'Is everything a joke to you?'

Tony pointed his stick at Steve. 'Funny things are.'

Steve stated. 'Threatening the safety of everyone on this ship isn't funny.' He looked at Banner. 'No offense Doctor.'

Banner explained. 'Ah, it - it's alright. I wouldn't have come on board if I knew I couldn't handle pointy things.'

I tuned out of their conversation and became swallowed in my thoughts. I needed to know my past. It was crucial to me. But what if I never did? What if I can't because no one has any sort of answers that can help me link to my past? What if I have a memory of my past that is blocked by a brick wall, but can't be nocked down? What if the other side of that brick wall can't be discovered? What if that brick wall can be knocked down, but no one or nothing is around to help me? What would I do if I did discover my past? Would I leave Shelly and James to live in my original homeland, or would I continue to live in New York with Shelly and James? Would I be able to live as a normal human if I discover who I really am, along with the world? What if this is all wrong, and I'm really just nothing at all? Is any of this worth it? Who can I see to ask questions?

A single tear built up and escape my right eye, sliding down my face and leaving a trail of evidence. I brought a hand to my cheek and subtly wiped the tear away. The realisation that I may never find out who I am crushed me. I needed to know who I was, but is that even possible? Does anyone recover memories they've lost?

I forced myself away from my thoughts to realise Steve was absent from the room, leaving Bruce and Tony who continued working at their receptive computers.

I hid any evidence of my emotions from them. Picking up my phone from my lap, I downloaded and learnt a game called Candy Crush. It was both a distraction and an indication to others that I was well entertained.

A/N - over the last few chapters I have been researching and watching videos to ensure the best accuracy possible. So most of my time has been spent in getting the chapters right and will continue on from here. I have finished my term holidays and will be going back to school to finish it off. However I can't promise much when I graduate as I will be getting myself a job and will be getting things done in my life. I will try my best to get as many chapters done as possible, however they will not be published as frequently as they have been lately. I have really enjoyed writing this book and hope you have enjoyed it so far. If you have enjoyed this book and the chapters, consider giving it a vote and comment on what you think to help me out. It would help me a lot with where this book is going.

All the best to you, and I hope you continue to enjoy this book :)
