CHAPTER 25
It had been a month since I gathered the personal information on my fake person. I was Sylvie Stone in public or when I wanted. I was 21 years old with a birthday on the 2nd of March. All my bank details and anything necessary was set up by Fury, and I thanked him for that.
Shelly had helped me create a résumé when we had my details and we emailed it through to her boss. I was accepted to work at the café when Shelly did, although sometimes she worked later or earlier or vise versa. When that happened, I walked to a specific spot that gave me coverage and shape shifted in a bird and flew home. It was easy that way and I loved it.
It was Saturday and Shelly and I were playing a game of Monopoly. It was am ancient Greek one and Shelly was winning so far, owning nearly half of the ancient Greek history sites.
It reminded me of Norse Mythology as it was similar with their gods an goddess, and that led to the thought of Asgard. I missed it a little, but always enjoyed being with Shelly.
I looked up at Shelly as she rolled the dice and moved her metal Zeus figure. 'I wish you could visit Asgard.'
Shelly looked up at me and frowned. 'Why?'
I shrugged. 'I would just love to show you were I come from. Asgard is a best place. I want you to see it.'
I looked down as Shelly handed me the rent for the ancient Greek site that she landed on. I placed the money with my own, organising it.
'I guess I wouldn't mind. We would have to take time off of work though if you want to be gone for a little while.'
I shook my head. 'We would only need a Saturday or Sunday.' I moved my hand onto Shelly's arm in a sudden movement, making her jump. 'We could even go tomorrow!'
Shelly smiled at my excitement. 'Maybe.'
I smiled as well, knowing that was a high possibility. We continued our game until Shelly had won, causing me to go bankrupt.
Shelly cheered in victory and I laughed. 'I hope that doesn't happen to me in real life.'
Shelly joined my laughter as we began to pack up the game.
Once we were finished we had dinner since it was a long game. We then sat on the veranda as the sun had just set over the hills. We brought ourselves blankets and hung up a bug trap.
I looked at the darkened distance. 'I think you would like Asgard.'
Shelly sighed. 'Yeah, but I haven't confirmed that we are going.'
'I know. I just hope you join me, because I want to show you it before its gone. You really do have to be there to get the full experience.'
'I doubt it will be gone in the next 10 years.'
I looked to Shelly. 'You don't know that. Ragnarok is a thing.'
Shelly frowned as she met my gaze. 'What is that?'
I made a thin line with my lips as I felt saddened to explain such a thing. 'It's a prophecy about the destruction of Asgard by Surtur. He's a huge monster, one of the Fire Demon's. He's Lord of Muspelheim.'
Shelly had a sorrowful expression. 'That sounds horrible.'
I gave a single laugh. 'Exactly why I want to take you there before that happens, or before you pass away. Either one that happens will mean you will never see it.'
Shelly turned away with a thoughtful expression.
I had to turn away and look down at my lap saddened by either thoughts.
'You make a good point.'
I looked back up at Shelly. 'Does this mean you'll go?'
Shelly began to nod. 'I think I should. I don't have anything on tomorrow and you seem desperate to want to take me so I'll go.'
My eyes lit up with excitement. 'Oh this is wonderful. You're gonna love it. Oh and I'll make sure you wear clothes that makes you look like an Asgardian. You'll fit right in.'
Shelly giggled. 'Thank you.'
I shook my head. 'No, thank you Shelly. I get to take you there. It's my pleasure to do so.'
Shelly smiled and I yawned with sudden fatigue. It was contagious as Shelly yawned as well.
I stretched. 'I think it's time to head to bed.'
'I agree.'
Shelly and I stood and carried our blankets inside. As we draped then over the couch, we parted as we said good night to each other. When I crawled into bed and got comfortable, sleep welcomed me.
The next morning, I woke up to chirping birds. I stretched out my legs and arms, ready to get up. I flicked my sheets and blankets off me and swung my legs over the bed. I stood and turned, waving a hand in the direction of the bed. A green line moved up from bottom to pillow and returned it to a neat and tidy bed.
After that I turned to my wardrobe full length mirror and rested my hands on my hips as I shape shifted into a green and gold Asgardian dress.
It was an emerald green with a triangular shape at the front, the tip reaching my collar bone. It was edged with a gold band that ran around my neck, under my arms and to the back. There was more gold band that clamped to my arms to hold up the sleeves. The front part was as long as my wrist, the back if the sleeve measuring the entire length of the dress. The material of the dress was cotton and tightened to my waist before it loosened. A gold material belt hung on my hips with extra length that nearly touched the floor.
My hair hung freely, needing no fuss. My shoes were gold flats, easy to walk in. I was satisfied with the look and headed out to have breakfast.
Shelly was already up and turned to see me. 'Well, you're looking very lovely this morning.'
I smiled. 'Thank you.'
I walked over to the kitchen to see what Shelly was making. It was scrambled eggs and bacon in the pan.
'In making us breakfast. I hope you don't mind.'
I shook my head. 'It's all good thank you.'
I sat down at the table and awaited my breakfast as I thought of what Shelly could wear.
By the time I had planned what Shelly would wear, breakfast was ready. Shelly placed a plate of devjne food in front if me.
I looked up at her and smiled. 'Thank you.'
Shelly smiled in return and ate her food without another word, appearing quite hungry. She had made a slice of toasted bread, avocado, bacon, and scrambled eggs. It looked delicious and I picked up my knife and fork and got stuck into it.
We cleaned up our dishes when we were done and Shelly leant against the counter.
I sat back down at the dinning table.
'Do I change into something that you have for me?'
I shook my head. 'No need to change.'
Shelly frowned as I lifted my hand and gave a single upwards wave. A green line trailed from Shelly's head to her toes. Her hair was loose, untied from the rough ponytail it was in before. Four braids lined half the side of her head before it was tied off.
She wore a blue dress with loose sleeves that swallowed her arms and hands in a sea of material. There was an under garment look as a lighter blue dress was poking out of the top of the dress and the sleeves a first layer.
Her second blue dress had a simple tight bodice and continued in the sleeves until it reached her elbows. Then it split and flowed like a waterfall about her forearms and hung to the floor.
There was a simple design to the bodice, silver swirls were etched into the cotton material. The final touch was her shoes that were simple light blue flats that matched the lighter under garment.
Shelly looked down at her outfit. 'It's beautiful.' She then laughed and looked up at me, causing my brows to furrow. 'I feel like I'm some medieval person. It makes me feel like I'm going into battle or something.'
I laughed and waved my hand at her again. Now she had gold bodice and shoulder armor. A long handled axe was in her hand as she posed to her left and stood with a serious face, ready to take on anything and anyone.
I laughed again. 'Feel more like you're about to go into battle now?'
She giggled and I waved my hand to remove the armour and axe.
We calmed our laughter and Shelly furrowed her brows as she observed her clothing again. 'What do you call this kind of magic?'
I lightly frowned and shrugged. 'That was shape shifting. However the entire magic that I possess is just magical abilities and sorcery.'
Shelly looked up at me and frowned. 'Where did you get it from? Did you just have it when you were born or something?'
I shook my head. 'It was extensive training that I did by myself since I had no one around to teach me.' I titled my head from side to side. 'I was a Vanir originally before Asgard invited us to live there. My family became Royal's when they saw my Father's potential. For some reason they didn't already have a leader. At that I started learning magic from reading books and getting some help from witches around. I became friends with one actually, but she was rather old and passed away so I had to continue on my own after that. I did it all behind my family's backs because I was supposed to be just a Goddess of Beauty. I'm both beauty and battle but my father didn't accept that. Thank goddess times have changed and females are warriors. I can now be the Goddess of Beauty and Battle. Anyway I didn't get taught much and couldn't excel my abilities much further. With the week in Asgard I asked Loki's mother to help me. She was kind and willing enough to teach me for the rest of my time in Asgard. We trained all day and I loved it. Frigga was like a second mother to me. She did the same to Loki when he was young. She taught him magic. I was grateful I could learn more and although it's not the best still, I have it there and honestly, still practice to this day. I'm much better than I was when I left Asgard but surely in a few months I should be pretty good.'
Shelly raised her eyebrows in shock. 'Wow okay. I wasn't expecting that much information but that's cool. So technically you're a princess, right?'
I shrugged and sighed. 'Well with my family gone, I would be queen, but its been so long that of wouldn't be right. I don't want it anyway. I want to live my life here on earth and visit Asgard occasionally, but other than that I'm good.'
Shelly nodded in understanding. 'That's crazy. The fact that, you know, just everything you told me. I mean, I'm talking to someone who is over 12,000 years old. That's crazy is it not?'
I nodded. 'It most definitely is.'
I looked down at my lap. It was crazy, and it almost didn't feel right that I was existing. I was grateful for my life but I also felt it was wrong that I was living. Like the entire world hating me was because I shouldn't be there. It's not as though I felt it either, I kind of knew it. When you saw what I did, how could you not confirm that feeling and theory?
I refocused my attention on Shelly and stood up. 'Should we get going.'
Shelly nodded. 'Yeah let's go. I'm excited.'
I led her out the back door and made sure that I locked it. I stood on the side lawn, giving space from the house so that Heimdall could have a clear pathway.
I looked up and then back at Shelly. 'I might want to hold you since its your first time and your human. Is that okay?'
Shelly nodded and I slid my hand around her waist.
I pressed her close and looked up. 'Heimdall.'
Rainbow surrounded us as we began to be pulled off the ground and through the portal to Asgard. Shelly held me tightly as she squealed a little at the foreign events.
I smirked a little, not because I enjoyed her being close, the feelings for Shelly had disintegrated weeks ago, but because she was a close friend of mine and it made me smile at her joyfulness.
Shelly and I had formed deep connections and I enjoyed her being my best friend, my only friend. But sometimes it seemed like Shelly could be more, but I knew she wasn't the type for that. She had always been searching for a man and had stated that once at dinner when we were discussing her life and a partner.
We discussed the people who had a crush on her in the past and she mentioned a woman who liked her. Shelly said she wasn't the type to date women. That is fine though, we all have different preferences in our lives. So I after I found that out I pushed away my feelings and we remained friends.
We arrived at the Bifrost and Shelly's eyes nearly popped out of her head as she took in her surroundings.
I giggled. 'This is just the Bifrost. Wait till you see Asgard and walk through it.'
Shelly had stepped away from me and I looked to Heimdall. We nodded to each other in greeting and I turned back to Shelly.
I cleared my throat to gain her attention. 'Just so you know, this is Heimdall. He is the gatekeeper of Asgard and he sees and hears all things.'
Shelly nodded, recognising the name, but she returned to observing the Bifrost. She made her way to the entrance and became paralysed by the sight of the palace.
I walked up to her, grabbing her hand and tugging her along the bridge. 'That is the palace, the place I grew up in. And this is the rainbow bridge. Quite beautiful isn't it?'
Shelly looked at the bridge and nodded in agreement, speechless at the sight of Asgard.
I laughed. 'I can't blame you, I was quite similar when I arrived. However my circumstances were different because I wasn't here for a tour or the sight. Anyway we don't want to walk along this bridge for so long. I'll let us travel in a far better way. As I said before, I've practiced a lot with my magic so I'll use it to my advantage.'
Shelly frowned but when I shape shifted into a white mare, she made an 'oh' with her mouth but quickly stepped back and raised her eyebrows. I knew she wasn't keen on horse back riding, especially when it was her friend that was in human form a second ago. I could've shape shifted her into a bird but since she wouldn't be able to cope with that very well, I turned myself into a horse.
I made frustrated horse noises and Shelly lifted her hands in surrender. I lowed my heavy body so it was easier for Shelly to mount. When she had, I slowly raised onto all four legs. I stated off by trotting so she could get used to it, when she had I galloped to a decent speed, getting us to the end in less than a minute.
I let Shelly dismount and transformed back into my Aesir self. I looked at Shelly who had completely fear and shock on her face. I smirked and tugged her along by her hand.
I gave her a tour of the city before the palace. Shelly walked so slow and awed at everything so much that it was well passed midday when we reached the palace.
When we had, I stood at the entrance of the throne room. 'This is where I often used to run with my brother after our duels. We practiced fighting and because I was the Goddess of Battle and Freyr wasn't so lucky with that. He was basically a dual of me but male and a few different God qualities. Anyway I would usually win the duels, and he would sulk to mother while I went to father to share my victory.'
Shelly raised her eyebrows. 'Wow that's crazy.'
I nodded. 'Yeah, but then my entire family except myself was murdered in this room.'
Shelly frowned. 'Oh that's horrible. I don't really want to imagine that.'
I shook my head, remembering the horrid events. 'No, you don't, and I wouldn't tell you about it either. It's not something for you to know much about.'
I looked at Shelly's sympathetic expression. I placed a hand out in front of me, moving it to gesture a continuation of our walk. I didn't want to linger on that topic. I was going to relive something similar but I wanted to remain joyous in Shelly's Asgard tour, leaving behind gruesome and horrible events.
