CHAPTER 22
The warm water in the limestone bath comforted me so. I had an elbow propped on the edge as I held up my wine that I occasionally sipped. My golden hair floated effortlessly within the water.
It was peaceful.
I brought the golden goblet to my lips as I let the red liquid flow into my mouth. I took away the goblet and swallowed the fermented fruit juice that left a slight burning sensation to my throat.
My mind wondered, thinking about how I managed to sleep on earth for so long. I understood that it was possible for people to sleep for many years, like 30+ years, but I slept 400 times that amount. I guess they just took care of me, leaving me to be alive longer than I could've been.
But I was astonished. How could that be possible to sleep nearly 12,000 years? It happened I guess, and I couldn't put the pieces together myself and I proved that it was possible and that's all the answers one needed.
The new question to my life now was, what in the universe do I do now? I discovered my past and got all memories back. My goals are all completed, there was nothing left.
I went to take another sip of my wine, but stopped and rested the brim on my bottom lip.
I could and would go back to earth to reset the trust that was never there. I was going to undo what Loki had done. If the Midgardians didn't want to hear another word from me, I would just have to prove that I was good in another way.
I could try another public speech again, approach it differently though. If that didn't work, then I might try protecting the people from crime or accidents that may happen. I would do small things amongst the city to build that relationship between me and the people. If that was unsuccessful, then I wouldn't know what to do next. I had two plans and couldn't think of anything more that would prove myself to the people.
If I succeed, I would be able to live in peace and forget about the negativity towards me as I walked through the streets. If I don't, then I would have to be cautious about what I do while still trying to maintain my normal life. Though something tells me I may not be living as normally as humans do. I'll probably volunteer to save others lives amongst the city, regardless of whether I was gaining trust from the people or not.
I felt excited. I had jumped my major hurdle and accomplished the larger goals, the next few that I had were now small and more of a side thing that wasn't such a large project.
I kicked my toes in and out of the water with excitement. My life was getting better, even though there was some things I wish were different, but I could change them.
I smiled and sipped my wine till it was finished, soaking all the warmth from the water while I did so.
Once I dried off and got dressed in my cotton nightgown, I climbed underneath my bedsheets and got comfortable. The weight of the days events had taken it's toll and I was tired enough to fall asleep almost instantly.
I practically jumped out of bed when I woke up. It was going to be the beginning of my training. I was ecstatic to be shown and taught new things.
After I got dressed in a blue cotton dress, I ate breakfast and awaited Frigga's arrival. When she knocked on the door, we instantly started my training.
It was fun, and Frigga made sure she did bore me and ensured I learnt what she was teaching. I ram down what I knew with Frigga, and that was conjuration, shape-shifting, and telekinesis. She taught me some of astral projection and a little of molecular rearrangement.
After the last days of my remaining presence on Asgard, Frigga taught me astral projection, molecular rearrangement, hypnosis, illusion casting, energy shields, and teleportation. I had stayed a couple more days longer to fit most of the training in. It was a lot that Frigga taught me and it was a lot for me to learn, but we managed to fit in all of what Frigga could teach me. I knew a few things were untaught, like teleportation, presence concealment, and telepathy, but what I was taught was far more than I could do in my own.
It was all a deep bonding experience. It felt like mother and daughter time. I basically claimed Frigga as a second mother, she was caring for me and treated me with a nurturing state.
It was sad knowing I was going to leave in a moments time. However, I was also excited to return to Midgard as well.
I had completed all training and sat on the edge of the rainbow bridge. I was halfway, so no one could interrupt me. I used it as a relaxing spot to let the thoughts in my mind race all they want.
I was torn between to realms. Asgard was my real and original home, but Midgard was where I had formed family and wanted to be. The people could use a helping hand and I was willing to be that, but Asgard was where I felt like I belonged. It was difficult but I knew I had to go back to Shelly and James. I knew I also had to prove myself to the people that I was truly sorry and was of no monster.
I looked up to view the edge of Asgard. The water flowed freely and effortlessly off the cliff, falling to nothing and spreading amongst the universe.
It was beautiful.
It was so peaceful and felt right.
I pried my eyes away from the view and forced myself to stand. I went to the palace and walked around to find Frigga.
She was walking towards me as if she knew I was approaching. I smiled at her and held my hands out.
'I must be off to travel back to earth now.' There was a hint of sadness within my voice and I'm sure Frigga could pick up in it.
She pulled me in for a hug and wished me well. 'Enjoy tour time in earth. I hope what I have taught will be of use.'
I beamed. 'Oh it must definitely will be. I can't thank you enough for what you have done for me. It was good to meet you.' We pulled away from each other. 'And I consider you a second mother to me.'
Frigga smiled and I knew she understood my feelings.
I dismissed myself searched for Thor. He was talking with Sif and when she had seen me, she broke their conversation and informed through of my presence. He turned around to face me.
We were on a balcony that came form the palace.
'Greetings Lady... Freyja I hear?' Thor had a quizzical brow.
'You are quite right. I have come to see you to bid farewell as I my time here in Asgard has come to an end and I must return to earth.' I looked out to Asgard's city from the balcony, soaking up what I could for I didn't know how long I'd be from that place.
Thor smiled. 'It has been a pleasure to meet you. I hope you enjoy your time on earth. You shall be back here?'
I gave a side smirk. 'I am not sure for I cannot say what events earth with bring. I shall be back though, for it is too amazing of a place to keep myself away from.' I dipped my head in respects for the prince. 'I shall be on my way now.'
I lifted my head and held my hand out. Thor frowned and looked at what I was doing, for we both knew it was a similar thing he did. When my sword came flying into my palm, I wrapped my fingers around the grip and observed the shocked fave that Thor contained.
He cleared his throat to try and hide his emotions. 'I see you've got yourself a wonderful weapon.'
I gave a cheeky smirk. 'Indeed I do, much like mjolnir, only with a better name.' I giggled knowing I was teasing Thor.
He challenged me. 'And what name might that be?'
I lifted my eyebrows. 'Skad. It means damage and harm, I'm sure you know. Far better than just "Thor's hammer".'
Thor tried not to show jealously and shock. I'm sure he wanted to be the only one with a powerful weapon.
I tried to lessen his jealousy. 'It just doesn't summon lightening for me.'
Thor relaxed and became confident that he was the more powerful one.
'I must be on my way now.' I paused and thought for a moment. 'But there's something I need to do first.'
I paid my respects to Thor and made my way below the palace.
I stopped in front of the corner cell, seeing Loki read a book as he sat on his green and gold lounge.
He finished a sentence and turned his head to look at me. His subtle expression showed that he was annoyed with my presence.
I held my head high. 'I have come to gloat and mock the foolish. I am on my way back to Midgard where I have completed my goals here on Asgard. With the memories I have gained and the powers that have been trained, I am freed of my confusion and weakness. Not to mention I did most of it own my own.'
Loki continued to glare at me like he had no care in the world about me.
I made an astral projection in front of Loki in his cell.
He turned to face my illusion.
I chuckled and smirked evilly. 'Enjoy rotting in chains while Thor is crowned king, MONSTER.' I enhanced the last word to make sure he was clear about who he was.
My astral projection vanished and I observed Loki's expression. To my surprise, it was clear that my mockery and gloating had gotten to him. Loki seemed hurt, like he slightly regretted his decisions because they led him to live isolated in his cell forevermore.
I felt a pang of regret on my own, feeling a little pained for running my words in his face. However, Loki truly put himself in that position. He did too much damage to be forgiven easily.
I turned on my heel and walked out of the palace and down the rainbow bridge, my sword in hand.
I met Heimdall and bid him farewell. He started up the Bifrost and opened the portal to earth. It was probably getting dark in New York now, meaning Shelly and James were guaranteed to be home.
In total, I had stayed on Asgard for around two weeks, and my time was up. I was going to leave Asgard behind for however long until I returned. I didn't know how it would go. I was sure that I'd miss Asgard but I left earth without saying goodbye, or even saying where I was going really. I showed up for a portion of time to retrieve Skad, but never did I stop by to see Shelly and James.
However, I was coming home. I was going to see them both and tell them of my wonderful journey. Although, I was afraid they would disapprove of me and ignore my presence for a while until they forgave my arrogant behaviour.
I didn't know what to expect really, but I wasn't achieving any knowledge of that while staying on Asgard.
I looked about me at the Bifrost and turned to face Asgard. I observed the golden structures before I faced Heimdall and nodded to say I was ready.
I steppes into the portal to earth and started descending to it. I had my original dress on as I said I would do when I left Asgard. Although, I had more to leave with than I expected.
I finally reached the ground and waiting for the rainbow streaks to disappear from around me. A mark was left in the grass of the lawn as always.
When my view was clear, I stood and stared at the house. I was home.
There was a light on which I assumed would be the kitchen as it was in the left. As I had thought, it was night.
I heard the back door swing open. Shelly had rushed to see what was happening. She was protecting James by standing in front of him in case there was a threat.
When Shelly laid eyes on me, she ushered James to return inside. I frowned, unsure as to why she would wave him away and delay our reunion.
Shelly crossed her arms and it was clear in the moonlight that her eyes were tearing up. She slowly made her way towards me, as I did to her, cautious of her actions and emotions.
When we stood in front of each other, Shelly looked away. It was clear she couldn't bring herself to look at me. I watch her expressions. She was angry, relieved, and disapproving at the same time.
'Shelly I'm sorry. I-'
'Don't speak!' Shelly had brutally interrupted me.
I was taken aback and stepped backwards to give her a little space and to turn away as I became hurt and shocked.
Tears started to form in my eyes, but I forced them down.
I took in a deep breath and turned back to Shelly.
She glanced at me before she turned away to look at the tree tops.
'You just left.' Her voice was a mere whisper as the tears rolled down her face and made it difficult for her to speak.
I let her continue without interruption.
'You just disappeared without saying goodbye at the very least. We don't know where you went, what you were doing. You left us in the worst time Rosalie.' She shook her head in disappointment.
I carefully corrected her. 'It's Freyja, actually.'
Shelly turned to me with teary eyes, her voice had returned a little more and she was angered. 'It's just a name! I don't give a damn whether its Rosalie of Freyja!' She poked a finger at me. 'Who you are is just a disgrace. A name won't change that. I don't know why you came back. I saw you in the news. You showed up to steal that piece of rubbish from the museum.' She pointed at my sword that I held at my side.
I quickly concealed it with the wave of my hand, but by Shelly's shocked and confused reaction, I realised that may have been a mistake.
She shook her head. 'She you're a freak too. We all know that Loki was the trickster god. There's no secret in that. It seems you learned to be a magician too. What next? You'll stab our backs while we aren't watching? No. Maybe you'll kill use. You're just as crazy as Loki.' She stepped back. 'You're a monster. No one does what you have done. I don't want to see you step foot on this property ever again. James will not see you, and I'll make sure he stays away from you. You've hurt us both and now you come back as some crazed person. That's not something a child should hang around. James will be sent into an orphanage, and I'll keep you away. It won't be hard to do either, believe me. Everyone thinks you insane from that destruction you did. I believed that you were good, and now I'm not sure whether I can trust you. I can believe the community. Right when I met you, you were crazy. And now, that evidence is beyond clear. You're a monster, a witch, and a fraud!'
Shelly aggressively turned in her heels and stormed back to the house. She vigorously wiped her cheeks and straightened her posture before stepping inside, not once giving me a last glance.
I was left to stumbled backwards on my feet before I cried my heart out. My knees collapsed and I feel to the ground in weakness.
After a few minutes, I gathered myself enough to shape shift into an owl and fly to somewhere that provided me distance from the city, as well as shelter.
