CHAPTER 15

A/N - sorry for the late update. I have not been as motivated and haven't exactly had the most creative mind lately so it was a little tricky to do this chapter but here it is I guess, so enjoy :)

I finally reached the end of the bridge and stepped into Asgard's city. I was stepping down the stairs from the bridge as I took in my surroundings.

There was a lot of rounded archways and vines that clung to the walls. Everything was a sandstone colour. The pavement had patterns with dark grey pebbles embedded into them to create an intricate flooring.

There were people walking around, not many but a few. There clothes were earthy colours, draped in layers. Some Asgardians looked my way as I walked through the city. They gave subtle confused looks as they glanced at my clothing. White and gold didn't seem to be of a normal outfit colour.

The exit from the bridge led straight up to the palace. I walked up the stairs, finding more up ahead.

I groaned at their sight, but new it was worth it to explore the city's marvellous wonders.

I took the last step to reach the top. What appeared to be ahead of me was the palace. An open entrance led to what seemed to be a very large and tall, grand hallway.

I approached it, uncertain of what significance laid ahead. I walked till I stood underneath the doorless entry.

My mouth was agape at the marvellous height of the ceiling. Large columns with intricate patterns held them up with their strength. The floor had large paver like tiles that covered it. A pattern was made in the pavers with different and detailed tiles.

It was a large symbol of a sort. There was a curved triangle in the center, created by three branching triangles. I believe they called it a triquetra, the symbol for Asgard. It almost seemed familiar to me. Like something I had seen in a movie and never really noticed, but had seen it. Like something that was always there but I never stopped to acknowledged its presence.

Light came from every direction, the entry, the end, and clearly from the side where windows or more hallways were. Stairs led up to them on their higher level on both sides.

There were large stands that would be lit by a torch to create light throughout the area at dark. They had a bowl like top where peoples covered in oil would be. They were placed at every second column.

It was a grand sight to see.

I took a slow step to marvel at it all, my flat shoed making a light tap against the floor. Something about the place gave such familiarity to me. It felt like I had been there before.

Small footsteps sounded behind me. I turned to see a young girl run up the stairs and through the hall. Her little light blue Asgardian dress billowed behind her. Her golden blonde hair was short with her young age, and her legs didn't give her much distance with the length of the hall. She eventually reached the end. It seemed as though she ran up to someone and jumped on them. Like it was her father.

More tiny footsteps came from behind. This time I had to side step in order to get our of the younglings way. He had a small sword, light enough for a child to wield. His hair was short and blonde, like the other girl. I assumed they were siblings. Once he reached the end of the hall, he turned to the left where someone else stood.

I started walking faster to get a better view, the small figures at the end being too tiny to decipher. I had walked a few metres, the end becoming clearer. There was a throne, golden with two thick gold branches on either side that curved, sitting behind the throne.

I couldn't quite tell what the throne looked like exactly, or who occupied it, but I knew it was intricate and gold.

I tried looking for the little girl and boy, finding no sign of them. There seemed to be no extra person to the left, and no little children.

I frowned, knowing I kept my eyes on them. It almost seemed as though they disappeared as I got closer. I continued walking anyway. Surely I could ask the person on the throne.

Someone had come into sight. He sat on the throne like a King. He had long grey hair that was tied back. A gold eye patch covered his right eye. He wasn't thin, but he also had armour that protected him. He had a golden scepter that had a point at its end. The throne had two helmet like sculptures at the front of it, like gargoyles at someone's front gate.

There was stairs that led up to the throne. The throne itself had three layers that gave it more height. It was a rather large area for a small sitting spot. Behind it all was a circle. There was a smaller circle at first that was solid gold. An intricate mesh design surrounded it as a second layer, then there was a third layer that was solid gold too.

It was as wide as the throne and was a part of the back wall. Vertical strips from the ground to the ceiling ran behind the circle as it connected it. The bars allowed a half wall and provided light. There was sun shining through the walls everywhere as a mesh material allowed light and air while providing a sense of closure. It seemed Asgard liked to be a part of the outside area while feeling partly enclosed.

I reached the throne area where another triquetra was. Here was where the oath split to the sides. I assumed that was where the King would go for his fancy dining room or library, whatever room he had.

My eyes were drawn back to the throne as I got closer to it. I felt a gravitational pull from it, like it called for me to touch it and feel its shiny material.

I carefully climbed up the few steps. I reached a hand out to stock the gold throne. Everyone and everything else disappeared as my hand met the cool metal.

A gush of wind was sent from behind the throne. I squeezed my eyes shut to protect them as the wind whipped my face before traveling through the hall and out the entrance. My hair and dress followed behind me before gently settling back where gravity took hold.

I opened my eyes and saw someone different sitting on the throne. It was difficult to see there face, they were turned away from me and they were like a gold ghost. Instead of being an Asgardian, he was gold dust.

His bottom jaw was moving like he was talking to someone else. I looked further up to see an elegant lady stand nearby. I could not identify any part of her face as it was a complete blur of gold dust, much like the rest of her body. I could identify an outline of what her clothing would've been like or how long her hair was, but colour and features was nor visible. It was the same as the man.

I heard the clop of heels echo through the hallway. I turned to see who it was. I was aggressively pushed forwards. My body was falling forwards. In instinctual action, I placed my hands out in front of me. I landed heavy in them and became clear of my surroundings.

I was left curious to what had just happened and who I saw, and who I didn't see. There wasn't even a glimpse of the person in heels when I tried to turn and see them. I was now leaning in my arms as voices surrounded me. They sounded angry and I was puzzled as to why.

I looked to my right and upwards as I saw a guard in shining gold armour. He had a long gold spear and a shield. He heals the spear as if he had pushed me over with it.

His voice was deep and unimpressed. 'Do not touch the King's throne or even dare to near him!'

I frowned in confusion. Oh, that's right. I had walked up to throne and touched it without permission. I felt like a tourist in a museum touching a special collection that was off limits for visitors.

I looked to the ground in shamefulness. 'Thy King of Asgard. I apologise for my actions.'

He was a king and I had to apologise in any way, as someone respectful would do. My heart rose and my breathing wasn't as steady anymore. I became worried at my unthinkable actions. I hadn't known what I was doing, and I certainly had no clue what had just happened.

I rose and turned to face the king with an apologetic look. 'I humbly apologise for my inconvenience. Might I ask if you saw anything strange or weird just then? Like gold dust people or something?'

I giggled at how stupid that sounded but I needed to ask to first and foremost get my curiosity and confusion out of the way.

There was no response to my answers as the king looked at me like I was crazy. I looked to the ground in disappointed and awkwardness. I politely cleared my throat and made the decision to turn and leave.

As I reached the bottom of the steps, the King spoke from behind me. 'Who are you?'

His voice had a sense of calmness and royalty to it. He seemed to fit the role for King of Asgard perfectly.

I turned around and responded. 'I am Rosalie.' I paused and questioned back. 'Who are you?'

I didn't truly know he was the king I guess, I also just felt completely awkward when there was such silence after my response.

He looked down at me with his one eye. 'I am Odin. King of Asgard and protector of the 9 realms.'

My eyes widened. 'That's a uh, quite a title.'

He titled his head as he examined me. 'Why do you come here, battered and bruised all over, and no foremost respect to the king?'

I became anxious remembering my state, I wasn't exactly in shape to see such high authority.

I frowned. 'No foremost respect to you?'

I titled my head, expressing my complete confusion.

Odin hardly moved or made much expression. 'When one is in presence of the king and are of lower rank, they will show their respect to the higher authority.' Hr stood from his throne seat. 'You however, do not show such respect.'

I scoffed. 'I'm sorry. I'm quite confused as to how I must show you respect. I do not mean to be an imbecile, but I am clueless.'

Odin lightly raised his brow. 'An Asgardian who does not know how to show their king respect, shows up with no purpose?'

I gave a side smile. 'I am no Asgardian your honour. Well, I know not of anyway.' I looked to my left at a column in disappointment.

Odin sat back down, heavy with armour and assumably age. 'Are you quite sure? Those drapes look as though they came from Asgard, and Asgard only.'

I looked at Odin once again. 'I can't be quite sure of anything. I have no memory. That is why I came to Asgard. Thor and Loki had already mentioned my appearance and link to that of this wonderful place. So, I came here to see if I could discover my past.' Tears began to build and I knew it was time for me to go before I seemed weak in from of such authority. 'Now if you'll excuse me, I must go?'

I lifted the skirt of my dress and curtsied to Odin in my attempt at respect. I turned and started walking down the hall.

I wasn't far when Odin's voice echoed through the hall. 'If you wish, I may be able to help you?'

I paused instantly in my tracks.

I turned on my heels to face Odin. 'Truly?'

Odin nodded once in response.

A smile could not cross my face any quicker. A tear fell but I wiped it away.

I approached the throne. 'How will you help?'

Odin stood from his throne and walked stiffly down the steps. He began walking down the right path that branched from where I stood. I assumed I had to follow his steps so I did.

He led me to a healing room. Once he introduced me to a Lady named Eir, Odin returned to his throne. I was now left with Eir. Her hair was curly and styles to sit close to her head. The sides were volumed to expand outwards. She seemed to have been in Asgard for a while now, her age showing.

She invited me to take a seat opposite her. I learnt that she was an Asgardian healer. She wore blue drapes like her friends did before.

She smiled, the skin wrinkling at her cheeks and corners of her eyes. 'So, let us get underway with this shall we?'

Her smile was contagious, so i returned it.

I nervously nodded, hoping we could figure something out. 'We shall.'

Eir changed her face to a more serious and focused tone. 'You remember nothing of your past, correct?'

I nodded. 'Nothing but my age, which is weird but good. I didn't exactly remember my name though, I just saw a link from a sword where I awoke and it had a name so I used it.' Eir already knew about most of how I woke up and all, but she was only confirming my memory side of things.

Eir nodded, taking the information in. 'So have you already tried to unlock your memory, as to say?'

'I have. Although I haven't been too successful. I tried to get answers from people who I'd thought was able to give me answers but in earth I wasn't so lucky. However Thor and Loki have both implied that I am of Asgard, providing the clothing I wore. There was also a sword in the museum that I woke up in. The Midgardians claimed it to be from the "gods above" which I presume is here. If I have any link to it, which I know not of, then I must be from here. And because if all these connections I've decided to come to Asgard to further my puzzle pieces. And being here I've felt strange things and I'm not sure that it is anything to do with me or just it all being a new area.'

A fellow healer of Eir's had entered the room with a towel and a bowl of warm water. She was ordered to help clean my skin of the blood and dirt that remained. She gently dabbed at my deep cuts and my skin where dirt was most present. After she completed cleaning me up, she left the room and Eir and I continued our conversation.

Eir frowned. 'What have these strange things been?'

I shrugged. 'It just feels nice here. Like its a place I could call home. But there was these gold dust ghost people that appeared when I touched the throne. There was a man on the throne and a woman standing near it. I went to turn to see who was behind me as i heard footsteps but I didn't get to see them. I have no idea his to describe it exactly but it was like people that were just gold dust. I don't even know why or what actually happened.' I decided to leave out seeing the little children, grasping no significance to my past as it only seemed like a silly hallucination.

Eir had a look of curiosity cross her face. 'Interesting.' She paused for a second before containing. 'I don't think I am able to tell you what that was but I think I will carry on with my work and hopefully over the next few days I have a solution as to how we can unlock your memory. How does that sound?'

I smiled. 'I'm willing to try anything.'

We both smiled and stood to exit the room. I now had to think of what I was to do next in the incredible city of Asgard.
