Chapter 3

While the morning sun rose over the shining castle of Asgard, Lune was pacing back and forth nervously around her room, fidgeting absently with her necklace. She walked out on her balcony to get some fresh air and clear her mind. Today, she would meet the princes officially and she could not have been more anxious. Promptly, her pink flowery dress catched in the wind, and so did a few strands of her side braid, which was nicely decorated with a few white flower hair pins. As she breathed in the fresh morning air, the sun shined just above the tip of the mountains in the distance, illuminating her soft skin. Suddenly, a knock could be heard at her door and a maid entered the room. She said politely:

- Lady Lune, you are asked for by the queen.

- I'm coming, the young woman answered blankly.

...

When she arrived into the parlor, which was heavily decorated with banners and paintings of all kinds, Frigga greeted her warmly.

- Welcome dear! How are you today?

The girl gave her a small head bow and replied, smiling:

- I'm great, thank you! And yourself?

- I am great! I think it is time you introduce yourself properly, isn't it?

She turned around to her sons, who stood there patiently, all smiles. The two walk up to them and Thor spoke first:

- Lady lune! What a delight to finally meet you!

- Indeed! The feeling is mutual, she returned cheerfully, giving him a light curtsy.

Then, Loki stepped forward and bowed vaguely. He took her right hand and gave it a light kiss before uttering solemnly:

- It is truly my pleasure to meet you, milady.

With her hand still in his, Lune bowed her head down slightly in return and, smiling, she replied:

- The honor is mine, my prince.

His green eyes met her orange ones and, for a single moment, the girl felt a warm sensation fill her heart. Frigga intervened and added happily:

- Great, now, how about we sit down and have a little talk, shall we?

- Absolutely! Thor replied with enthusiasm.

- Surely, his brother joined in.

They walked over to the balcony where a few couches had been installed around a low table. They all sat down, both the princes on one and the queen and Lune on the other. Over the time they spent outdoors talking, Lune took great pleasure in getting to know about the people she would from now on spend much time with. Of course, they asked many questions about her, like her points of interest, her favorite occupations, food, color, etc. However, as the conversation went on, she realised that the younger prince kept mostly quiet, unless he made a few sarcastic comments here and there, which only got him reprimanding looks from his mother and, even if she could never admit it at the moment, the girl thought it was fairly amusing. To everyone's annoyance or thankfulness, for not having to talk, obviously, Thor kept them entertained with fabulous stories about his or Odin's wars and numerous battles. No one was really listening, but they were way too polite to actually intervene and stop him.

While she was absently surveying her surroundings, Lune took this moment to observe her company's auras. As she had noticed a few days before, Loki's spirit was humble and quiet, with a vast range of colors that reflected him very well. Thor's aura was quite the opposite, as it took a lot of place around himself, toned up with bright shades of red and yellow, as well as a few stripes of blue. When the girl turned subtly to Frigga, however, she found it utterly astonishing. Her's was floating all around in all different tints of blue, from the dark marine to the ice cold tone, along with the azure of the sky. It was, unlike her sons' spirits, unleashing peacefully instead of staying close to her head, enveloping her like a soft veil. She was dragged back to reality eventually, when she felt someone staring at her. She came back fast enough to catch Loki turn away and look back at his cup of tea, which was probably cold by now. Relieved, Lune realised that he was probably the only one who understood that she was daydreaming.

When the sun began to set, they all went back inside and split up, going back to their chambers to get ready for meal time. Frigga left first, as her room was far away in the royal wing. Then, Thor left and so did Loki a few moments later, as his apartments were farther away on the corridor. Just before he left her however, he turned around and said, with a small grin:

- This evening was really a pleasure, I'll see you later.

- Of course, Lune responded in the same tone, with a small curtsy added.

She entered her room and closed the door behind her. She let herself fall onto her bed, quite tired, as using her powers took her a good amount of energy.

The rest of the evening was quite pleasant, with supper being somewhat calm and Lune barely talking, to her absolute relief. She did not like to speak in public, as she was rather shy, especially in front of the king. She was again seated next to the queen and, even if she was a little bit tired, she still tried to be present, simply to be polite. When the time came for her to leave the table for the night, she walked outside to the gardens to enjoy the weather, which was refreshing and filled with the wonderful scents of the seasonal flowers all around. The girl sat down on the side of a small fountain, absently staring at the crystal clear water. The latter reflected the stars shining in the sky above Asgard, along with the fire of the nearby torches of the grounds.

As she was lazily swirling the water around with her hand, a shooting star passed over her, illuminating the sky for a brief moment. Lune looked up, smiling. Just like many others, she learned from the youngest age that, at least in the asgardian beliefs, a comet symbolized good luck sent by someone from the other side. When she was just a child, her father made sure to teach his daughter all there was to know about the stars, so that she could, as he would always say: "Find her way home, no matter where she was in the universe." The girl sighed and got up, going back to her chambers for the night. Arriving in her room, she looked out the window and saw her father's silhouette in the Bifrost. She already missed him. Five month could be long without her father's presence.
