Phils POV

Dan was being weird with me last night, I still don't understand why. 'later' never came, he stayed in his room for the rest of the evening and he's in there now. I hadn't meant to leave him last night, but the girl was from my old primary school and was one of my best friends from back then. When she messaged me I couldn't possibly turn down the opportunity to catch up with her, if only Dan could let me explain that to him. Wait, was he jealous? No, surely not. He wouldn't care if I got with someone as long as I stayed friends with him and I would. No girl could end our friendship. 

I heard Dan moving in his room and looked expectantly into the hall way but his door stayed firmly shut. To get my mind off him I got my laptop out and went onto YouTube to listen to music, when I did I saw my notifications were exploding. I clicked on the bell in the corner of my page and saw a ton of comments on a video I hadn't remembered posting, it was the Christmas one me and Dan had done... maybe he had uploaded it for me? 

As I scrolled down I saw a bunch of cute comments from our fans and people asking me where I got my Edward mask from, I chuckled as I continued to look at more. I saw Dan had replied to one and my smile dropped

Wait do you two live together now!? are you boyfriends??? 
Yes we are living together but no we are definitely not together and we never will be, we're just friends! That's all. 

Is that why he's been asking weird? Because people see us as a couple? Does he really not like me in that way so much... what was his issue!? I closed my laptop forcefully and pulled my knees up close to my chest.
My phone buzzed and I had a message 
"Hey Phil, wanna hang? x"   It was Jade. Thinking about her she was a nice girl, she was sweet and okay she liked chavy music but I could look past that. I was still hung up on Dan but that's obviously not going to happen. I did like Jade and I did want to see her again. 
"Yeah sure :)"
"Starbucks in an hour? x"
"see you there"

"Dan?" I questioned and knocked on his door, he didn't say anything but I pushed the door open anyway to see him lying on the bed facing away from me "Dan?" He turned over and his eyes were puffy, he kept sniffling "are you alright? What's wrong?" I questioned and ran over to him
"yeah" He said and shuffled away from me, he looked at me sadly "I have a cold, I don't want to infect you" I couldn't tell if he was lying or not
"Aww poor Dan has man flu! Want me to look after you? I can make some soup and-" all I really wanted to do was pull him into a hug.
"No I'm fine" He said a little too quickly, a sharp edge in his voice 
"Oh okay... well, if you don't mind, I'll be heading out then" I told him and he looked at me for a long while before finally speaking
"What for?" 
"Jades invited me out again"
"Jade?" He said quietly 
"Yeah, the girl from yesterday. You don't mind me leaving do you? It's just-"
"Do what you want" He interrupted and turned away from me, I held my hand out and was about to put it on his shoulder but stopped mid way. I dropped my hand to my side 
"see you later" I whispered and left, I had no idea what was wrong with Dan. It was like he had a personal vendetta against Jade but I couldn't work out why.  Maybe he just hates me now, or maybe he's jealous because he lost all his old friends after him and his ex broke up. That doesn't sound like Dan though.

I quickly got ready and then looked at Dans door, wondering if I should stay. With a sigh I walked away and out the front door, he didn't want me here anyway.

"Phil!" Jade chirped as I entered Starbucks, I smiled and sent her a little wave before going up to get a hot chocolate but Jade held up a second cup and indicated for me to go over "I got you a hot chocolate"
"Thanks. You remembered what I liked" I said and happily took the drink from her 
"I literally saw you yesterday, of course I remembered. Besides hot chocolate isn't the most complicated thing in the world" She giggled and took a sip of her own drink
"True, I'll pay you back for this" I told her
"No need" She replied with a smile, she soon frowned when she saw me "What's wrong? You look glum?" 
"It's just Dan" She slumped a little further into her chair when I mentioned him, I admit I had mentioned him a lot yesterday but that's because he's a big part of my life "I'm sorry, it doesn't matter"  I quickly said and wished I'd never bought him up, this was meant to be a fun time out. 
"No, no, carry on. It's fine" she said to me
"No, lets talk about how you're doing."
 That perked her interest. She rambled on about her mums new boyfriend who hogged the bathroom this morning and she almost couldn't meet me as he was trying to ground her
"and I'm like you can't ground me because, like, he's not me dad you get me? He's just some asshole who's shagging me mum so he doesn't own me. Well I told him that and he was not impressed but I just walked right out the house as he was yelling at me"
"Damn. He sounds like a tool" I said and took a gulp of my hot chocolate 
"you don't know the half of it, you're so lucky you're not living at home anymore Phil" She told me but she didn't know the half of it. It's great living alone but who do I go to when my best friend is being weird for no reason? At school I could just go home and talk to my family about it but here I was on my own, it seemed silly to go running to mum when any little thing went wrong. I'm old enough to be able to handle my own problems.
"Yeah it is pretty great, but there's a lot of washing up to do" I laughed and she giggled

We talked for a while longer and by we talked I mean she did but I listened and gave some feedback every now and then. It was nice, I didn't have to keep  conversation going because she did that for me. 
"It was lovely seeing you again" I said to her as I was outside her house "I hope everything goes okay with your mums boyfriend"
"yeah, he's probably calmed down now" She told me "I enjoyed this Phil" She held my hands whilst facing me, I smiled at her and rubbed my thumb across her hand "I have a question" She bit her lip and looked up at me nervously 
"Ask away"
"Phil... would you like to go out with me?"  She asked me. I stood there stunned for a second, she was asking me out? but you like Dan... but Dan doesn't like me back and Jade is really nice. I was so conflicted but I heard my mouth say one word:
"yes" 

AN: This was going to be longer but I thought this was a good place to stop since I have coursework to do now.
