"Where there is a pulse there is a chance!"

Today's the day.

The surgery that you would take part of and hopefully it would be successful.

But with you around, it would surely go according to plan...

Right?

"Stupid vending machine, it stole my money!" You kicked the machine in frustration, realising that you lost money after trying to purchase your fifth energy drink that morning.

Yes, you were losing it.
Not only that, but you didn't sleep much last night and you prayed that energy drinks would be able to do something to help with your sleep deprivation.

It only made you more cranky.

"I'm going insane..." you muttered once you realised that you kicked the machine right in front of many passing patients.

You were currently in the atrium of the building, in-between the cafeteria and A&E.

There was still time until the much awaited surgery, around an hour you guessed.

An hour of pure pain and suffering.

Not wanting to grab anymore unwanted attention, you tried to make a run for it to one of the break rooms until someone's chest got in the way.

"Oof! Hey! Watch where you're-" looking up while rubbing your nose, you realised that it was the only Kim SeokJin, the very person who had practically gone missing after the whole panic attack.

"-going..." the older was in his usual hospital attire and he looked awkward around you, unable to look you in the eyes.

"...heard the surgery was today...good luck" and he left as quick as he came. You turned to let your eyes follow after him and he looked to be disappointed about something as he ruffled his hair in frustration.

Frowning in confusion, you wondered what that was all about until someone else jumped in to your line of sight.

"Boo!"

"Ah!" You held your thumping chest while looking at a chuckling Hoseok. He seemed pleased that he was able to get a reaction out of you before explaining himself.

"Sorry, I thought you needed the energy boost before the surgery today"

"Well, that's one way I suppose..." it somehow worked as you felt more awake than before. Doctor Jung looked back at the retreating Jin and smiled sympathetically for the other.

"He's finally back, huh. Faster than last time at least" this caught your interest.

"He does this often?"

"Not really but, when this time of the year comes round, he needs more time for himself" you also looked back to see that Jin was no longer there as he stepped in to the elevator and out of sight. Around this time of year? From what you remembered from Yoongi, you guessed that his fiancé must have died around this time.

You would need to call Miyoung to try and sort a meeting between them and hope that Jin would feel better.

"Anyway, ready for the debriefing?"

"As ready as I'll ever be"

----------------50 minutes later-----------------

You and the other doctors involved with the surgery had to gather for a debriefing. It consisted of many possible outcomes and how to deal with problems that may arise.

Basically trying to prepare for everything and anything that can happen.

Yoongi felt at ease knowing that you would be there to help him and he knew that the surgery would be 100% successful.

No pressure right?

Hoseok seemed pretty relaxed too but that may be because of his optimistic trait as well as working along side the Chief of surgery who looked prepared.

You on the other hand were a wreck. Though you hid it with ease, it felt like you had a volcano in your head ready to erupt.

Was the pressure getting to you?

"With all that, we should be good to go. Go get changed in to your surgical gowns, I'll be waiting outside for everyone" everyone nodded in confirmation before making their way out of the meeting room.

All except you.

"Y/N? You ready?" Yoongi's voice brought you back to reality and you noticed that the room was now empty.

"Huh? Oh, yeah...totally ready" you laughed nervously while standing up from your chair. Beford you could follow everyone out, hands grabbed your shoulders to make you turn and face the doctor in front of you.

"You'll be just great. Just do what you've always done" Yoongi reassured before reaching over to ruffle your hair and moving past you to make his way out too.

Yeah, just do what I've always done...

You should be trying to get in to the office.

I'm literally about to go in to surgery and you're telling me to worry about other stuff?!

You should worry about yourself. I've said this too many times, stop putting others before yourself.

The voice wasn't wrong, you always had the urge to help people out. How could you not help them? You were given your ability for a reason...

Shaking your head to get rid of the thoughts, you decided to ignore the voice and to focus on the surgery instead.

If you remembered correctly, your surgical robes were back at your locker.

Luckily for you that was only down the hall. Just like everyone else, you exited the room and began to make your way down the hallway while smiling at the passing patients and workers politely.

Unbeknownst to them, you were a walking train wreck.

Just breathe in...out...in...out.

You made it to the outside of the locker rooms and you expected the room to be empty but, you were wrong.

Once you stepped inside, the sight of Taehyung putting on his lab coat and lanyard came in to view. He heard your footsteps and once he looked up, he quickly looked away, not wanting to get worked up again so early in the day.

Your heart sank a little once you realised he wouldn't insult you like he usually did. The news about you had really downed his spirits.

Not wanting any confrontation, you walked over silently and opened up your locker that was next to his. Funny how you two became locker neighbours even though you detested each other.

You reached over to grab your robe and just as you were about to replace your lab coat, the sound of a locker shutting made you look over to see Taehyung done.

"...remember what I said" he warned, still not looking at you as he fixed his buttons.

"...yeah, I remember" these may be the last moments you would ever have to working here before getting exposed.

"...then good luck" he finished before walking off to the exit, not wanting to hear your response.

You whipped your head in his direction, never hearing him say a word of encouragement until now.

Once he left, you looked down at the robes in your hand and you wondered if you made the right decision.

Taehyung was an awful person, that much everyone knew.

But he was an amazing Doctor too.
A Doctor who worked hard to be where he was.

The brunette had just reached the end of the hallway where he saw all the doctors get ready for the surgery. He already felt his heart sink at the sight, remembering the times when he would imagine joining them and saving lives like he was trained to do.

Not any time soon.

He was about to turn and leave until a voice called out to him.

"Taehyung!" Turning around, he saw you run down the hallway and towards him while holding the surgical robes in your hands.

Confused, he waited for you to reach up to him and once you did, you bent over and panted heavily.

"What's wrong? Did you break my locker again?"

"You should go *pant*...instead of me*pant*..." taken aback, Taehyung was unsure if he heard correctly and urged for you to repeat.

"What?" Once you regained your breath, you straightened yourself out and shoved the robes in to his hands.

"I want you to go instead of me...I believe in you! Good luck!" Not wanting to wait for his answer, you made a run for it back to the locker room where you needed to get Namjoon's office key to go along with your original plan.

Your words echoed in his head and suddenly, he felt encouraged to do as you say.

"...thanks, Y/N, but I don't need luck" smiling with confidence, he swiveled on his heel to join the others down the hallway.
