Hey y'all! I am officially done with finals and now I get to celebrate summer! Yay! But I've also decided to dedicate this chapter to some songs I found that just seemed to fit for everyone in Ascension so enjoy!

Tom - Thanks to his dad's spell on him, Tom is a new demon, reborn in a way. His intentions in Ascension have been completely altered. He is more wicked and sly. His deeper, demon genetics have been awakened by King Lucitor's spell. Tom is now a corrupted form of himself.

As for his goals, he now tries relentlessly and forcefully to capture Star's heart and claim her as his own. He may also want to cause trouble for Marco along the way, as he sees him as a threat to get to Star. Though Star is the complete opposite of interested in Tom, she becomes more and more disgusted in Tom throughout the first book, PL&DE, but he will stop at nothing to get her back. With his new consumed self taking over, he will know no boundaries to get what he wants. He knows no moralities whatsoever and has discarded everything he has known to take Star for himself and get rid of Marco for good.

Tom is proud to call himself a demon and, with his new spell to shed his outer human-like pysch, he is now everything his dad wanted him to be. No morals, no mercy, and no shame. His curse has reinvented him for the worst... and he wouldn't want it any other way.

Star - Star remains her bubbly and chirpy self for the most part. She looks for hope and the bright side of things in the dark times that she is going through in this story. She believes there is always light in a situation and if this story is the dark and depressing grey canvas with an overly depressing and death-relating storyline, she is the splash of vibrant colors to make everything better. She is the ray of sunshine that brings the fluff and giggles. She is also sweet and gentle and caring but can also be incredibly clumsy, loud, and spontaneous when she wants to be. Lectures and adult authority bore and aggravate her and she is only interested into breaking the rules and creating her own.

Her goals do not change a lot throughout this story. She still wishes the best for Marco and wants to be with him, despite what everyone thinks of him. She knows that he is a tender soul and wants to help him regain his former self and collect the bits and pieces of his memories that has been wiped from his mind. She is there for his emotional support as well as his whole psych. Star wants Marco to know that, even though things are tough, he will be okay and everything will work itself out eventually. And as Marco recollects his memories, Star opens up more of her feelings towards Marco and falls in love with him more and more. She would do anything for him, even if it meant crawling to the ends of the universe to find what he needed.

On a much darker note, she struggles with her own inner turmoil. Star desperately wishes for her life back and, not willing to come to terms with her status of being dead, will find anyway to get her own life back, whatever it takes. She does not want to believe the harsh reality that she is dead and has no way out of her own fate. All the angels that she has asked for her life back have told her one thing: "I'm sorry, Princess. There is nothing we can do to turn back the clock." Still, she refuses to believe it.

Marco - He is basically an emotional wreck. Star is his super glue to hold him together when he finds his mind drowning in bad thoughts. Throughout PL&DE and Ascension, Marco is the one who struggles the most mentally and emotionally... and physically unfortunately. But as Star continues to reassure him, he starts to believe that he is someone who can be worth something to someone and that the world is filled with hope and goodness.

Though he is unsure of his feelings towards Star, he wants to believe that he really is in love. He does not know, however, if what he is feeling is really love because he has never been in love before with anyone. He is scared that if he leaves Star waiting too long for him, that he will lose her and realize too late that he really was in love with her.

He is confused as to what Star sees in him because he does not know who he once was and that who he once was is the reason Star is in love with him. But, he still attempts to stay by her side and protect her because Star has been the only one who has never doubted him and has always cared for him in his "demon life". He does not remember or know what it is like to form a meaningful relationship with another person. He has practically "lived" his life as a demon. The fact that Tom really isn't his brother still bothers him sometimes. He is trying to understand the world around him as well as his own life.

When Star came to the Underworld and showed him that he actually meant something to her and was a real person with a real life, it "woke him up", in a way. He began to realize that he actually held meaning and was worthy of having a life other than his unhealthy relationship with his "brother" Tom, stapling Marco's wings to the wall when he lost at ping-pong, and his always absent "dad", King of the Underworld, who never really cared for him in his fake memories. This all goes to show that Marco never was given the best "life" in the Underworld and was never meant for it either, as he was born on Earth with actual human parents.

Though he could learn to very slowly adjust to the demonic lifestyle, he can never fully be equipped to live as a demon because he is not meant for the Underworld. That is why, in the previous book, he had trouble eating cockroaches and growing wings without getting an infection, and struggled to prove to Tom that he really was a demon by going out on a killing spree one night. Marco never learned as a demon to solve his problems healthily and has always been treated as dirt under everyone's shoe. Star had picked him up and showed him otherwise and that he did have a true life to fulfill. That is why he discovered he has the power to choose his own life and fix himself better. He takes off to the Above to find a better life for himself too.

Yet, his memory of being spelled by Tom and hurting the one closest to him, Star, has traumatized him. It is because of this, along with Tom's verbal and physical abuse towards Marco, that makes him mentally beat himself up and bring forth intense feelings of regret and anger in himself. He believes he will be nothing more than a murderous demon yet also wishes for more, a rightful ascension to the Above where he can be an angel and be with Star.

Being officially announced as an ascended demon, he will see that he is worthy of becoming an angel and that what he believes about himself is not true. The angel court trial, if he is proven innocent, will give him confidence in himself again and prove to the angels that he is not a demon at all, in fact, a person who is capable of being good and with Comet fighting for him as well as Star, he believes he may have a chance.

Tomstar - This is the tainted love in Ascension. This love is a one-sided love where Tom will give his all for Star, yet Star wants nothing to do with Tom. The only one madly in love is Tom while Star is his objective. This is the "evil love" in this story. Tom does not care if Star completely despises him. He will make her fall in love with him again, even if it's the last thing he does.

Tom & Marco - They absolutely despise one another. You cannot get much more hatred than this.

Tom would have already have killed Marco if it wasn't for the Above and compromising his identity as the demon prince, thus ruining his secret plans.

The both of them butt heads often, considering both their goals are to be with Star. Not only this, but Marco has a grudge with Tom since he had spelled him, made him kill Star, spelled him again, then tried to kill Marco.(Nice job, Tom.)

As for Tom's hatred towards Marco, he is sour at the fact that he had come back for Star, yet only to find Marco getting too close for his comfort. After he had spelled Marco, he thought he had redeemed himself for Star, only to discover Marco in the act of hurting Star and eventually killing her because of the spell. He is furious with Marco and blames him for killing Star, despite the fact that it was his own spell that had influenced Marco to do so.

Now that she is back in her afterlife, Tom believed he had a second chance with her, only to find, yet again, that she wanted Marco.

Now, it is a endless fight to the death until someone wins. Here are some songs to represent their shared hatred in a relationship!
