Still sniffling quietly, Nishinoya made his way off the school campus. It was the dead of night.

The best time to be alone.

Practice had run pretty late, now that he thought about it.

But out of all of his teammates, he never expected Tsukishima to be the one to finally tear him down to the point of breaking. Only Tanaka knew this, but behind his thick skin and bravado, he was actually quite fragile. If you managed to get in to his mind, if you managed to make your words matter to him, well, that was a very special thing.

And a dangerous one.

He had many close friends, but only a few would he be hurt by if they said something he didn't want to hear from them. And his entire team was like that with him, even Tsukishima. Despite his harsh words, he knew when to shut up.

Usually.

"Nishinoya."

Asahi knew he was up here.

"Go away."

He didn't want anyone to see him cry. He was an ugly crier, not like Hinata or Shimizu, who looked great despite the tears cascading down their cheeks.

No, his eyes swelled and his face scrunched up and he looked like a pig.

"Are you okay?"

"Not many remarks hurt me. But that one did."

No matter how many people he met, the one person he couldn't trust to support him, in the end, was himself.

"Yeah. I know."

"I didn't really expect it to be a volleyball remark, either. I'm sorry. Usually I'm better than this."

"Don't say that. We all have days like that."

"Not Tsukishima, apparently."

"He's just...well...he's Tsukishima. And, don't tell him I said this...but..."

Asahi took a deep breath.

"He's kind of a bitch," he whispered.

Noya went silent and looked up at him, jaw dropped. "This is why I love you."

Asahi blushed.

Nishinoya suddenly realized what he said.

"Oh shit I-"

"No no no, it's fine it's fine I actually...kinda liked it."

"Really?"

They leaned together a little bit.

"Asahi?"

"Yes?"

"Ca-can I kiss you?"

The ace didn't answer but instead leaned in towards Nishinoya.

Their lips met.

It was delicate and lovely.

After a few seconds they broke apart and Noya smiled.

"I guess now I don't have a reason to be sad anymore, huh?"

"I guess you don't."
