Taking Off
Minutes later, I was outside with the Doctor, walking towards that big blue box. The secrets it contained, or the absolute horrors stuck inside of it were about to be exposed to me.
He walked a step ahead of me. Always ahead of the game. It did seem just like him- I mean, come on, I loved the show, I knew all about the guy, or at least the man he wanted me to believe he was. That didn't mean I had the advantage, of course. Since I loved the character so much... The real guy could just be an obstacle.
I watched as he nonchalantly walked into the TARDIS. He must have been crazy- someone with full brain capacity wouldn't just walk into a random box in a random place- after eating breakfast with a random girl! And yet, there I was, following him inside.
He leaned over the large control panel, turning back at me with that same little grin on his face. "Go on, say it."
I was in awe. The place was everything, anything, I felt like my entire imagination had been building this for generations. The ceilings were high. The air, cool. And in the middle of it all, the Doctor.
"Bigger on the inside," I whispered.
He began to play around with the levers. "You've got that right, now where do you want to go? Or should I say, when do you want to go? Or even, where and when would you like to go? Perhaps a trip to Mars a day after it's creation, or maybe you'd rather go to New York City in 9056. I'm not picky."
I said nothing but just stared at the place. This whole day was impossible. I couldn't call it a nightmare, since it was so GOOD, but it was too unreal to be a nice dream.
The Doctor noticed my silence turned back to look at me, and walked over to where I stood at the enterance. He put his arm around me. "It's not a dream," he said quietly, "and if it were, why waste it in shock? You can do and be whatever you want while you're with me. So come on." He turned and began backing away, looking at me. "Where do you want to go?"
For the first time, I looked him in the eye and smiled, calmed by his words. "Anywhere and everywhere."
His smile widened to the sort of look a madman would give off. "Then I suppose we should get a move on."
He hopped up onto the platform with the controls on it and pulled a few levers. "I suggest you hold on tight to something- the first time is never quite easy."
I slowly walked up the few stairs to the platform to join the Doctor. "Okay, so what should I grab?"
Suddenly. we were shaking in every direction possible. A horrible crumbling and cracking noise was filling the space around us. I felt the ground beneath me rising up, ready to flip me sideways. I was about to be flung across the TARDIS, into the wall behind me. An impact like that could do horrid, horrid things...
"Doct-" I shouted. But he was already there, holding me steady.
Again he said nothing, only smiled at me.
"Welcome to wherever we are."
