I dial Randy's number, "what was that about?"

He sighs through the phone, "Avery, please."

"No!" I yell. "That was not okay!"

"Avery, Ponyboy Curtis isn't who you think," he explains.

I roll my eyes, "what do you mean?"

"Ponyboy Curtis and his friend, Johnny Cade almost killed my friend Bob," he explains.

"You're lying," I yell.

He sighs once again, "no, I'm not. He was flirting with his girlfriend Cherry. So when Pone found out that Cherry was dating Bob, he went after us. He was angry. They found us at a park and starting threatening us. Then Johnny jumped me and Pony tried drowning Bob. He even dumped alcohol down his throat."

I shake my head, "you're lying!"

"No, I swear!" He yells."Since then we've swore to get back at those greasers."

I squeeze my eyes shut, "please, stop talking."

"Are you okay?" He asks.

"Just stop!" I yell as I slam the phone down hanging up.

Truth-I don't know if Randy is lying or not, I just don't know.

I look in the mirror and sigh as I throw on my boots rushing out of the house. I run straight to the DX where I find those two greasers Randy beat up. The one guys looks up alarmed, "hey! Get outta here Soc, we've had enough of your kind today!"

The hot guy runs out and I shout, "hey! Hey! Calm down!"

"Why?" The hot one growls.

"Who's Randy?" I ask.

Their eyes soften, "who are you?"

"Avery," I smile.

"Sit," the hot one gives in.

"Sodapop!" The other guy snarls.

I cock my head to the side, "are you by any chance related to Ponyboy Curtis?"

Soda nods, "he's my little brother. Why?"

"He's awesome," I bite my lip.

The other guys sighs, "listen Avery, we get off shift in ten minutes, wanna go get something to eat and we'll talk."

I nod, "I'd love that, but I have a question first."

"Anything," Sodapop smiles.

I take a deep breathe, "did Ponyboy try to drown Bob?"

Steve looks at me alarmed,"where'd you hear that?"

"Randy," I mutter.

He punches a wall, "I'm gonna kill him!"

"Don't!" I shriek.

Soda shakes his head, "Bob tried to drown Ponyboy."

I sniffle as I fight back tears, "oh my god, Ponyboy!"

"What?" Soda asks.

I shake my head, "I think I might be falling for him."

Soda's eyes pop out, "Avery?"

I nod my head, "yea Soda."

"You can't!" He yells.

"Why?" I ask desperately.

Soda turns around, "it's too dangerous, for both of you."

I close my eyes and tears flow down my cheeks, "why does it have to be dangerous?"

"Socs and greasers don't mix Avery!" Soda yells.

"Maybe they should!" I scream right back.

Soda shakes his head, "well they don't."

I look away, "I should get going Soda."

He nods, "see ya 'round Avery."

"Yeah, see ya 'round," that's all. I walk off just like that as if nothing ever happened.

Little did I know that this was the start of something that I would never be able to forget. This was the start of a life, I never thought I'd have. This is the moment, my life got flipped upside down. I was about to thrown into a whirl wind of drama and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

I sit alone at the movies waiting for Randy to show up. I look up at the sky and sigh. I go to turn away, but I hear a sweet voice, "Avery?"

I turn around and see Ponyboy with another guy, "Ponyboy?"

"Hey," he smiles.

I break down into tears right there. I fall down and let out a loud sob. He bends down next to me, "Ava...can I call you that?"

I nod my head as I continue to sob.

"Ava," he brushes my hair out of my face. "Why are you crying?"

I don't have the courage to tell him about Randy and I, "some jerk just stood me up!"

He chuckles, "well he's an idiot then."

"Or maybe I am," I sigh as I stand up. "I should just go."

I go to walk away, but Pony grabs my hand, "no, come with us Ava."

I smile, "I couldn't."

"Of course, you can," he smiles. "I'll protect you from any assholes."

I tug at shirt, like I do every other time I'm nervous, but I eventually give in, "I guess...Although only this one time"

He smiles, "I'll even pay."

"No, I have enough money," I shake my head.

"I would never let a girl as pretty as you pay," he chuckles paying for my ticket.

I roll my eyes, "I owe you one and thank you."

I guess that was kind of like our first date, but not really. I was ready for a date and he just wanted to go out with his friends. It was the exact moment I knew Ponyboy Curtis was gonna be something special. I just didn't know how.

As the movie ends Pony looks over at me and smiles, "wanna go to my house?"

"I couldn't," I shake my head. "I'm just gonna walk home."

"You sure?" The guy next to him who I learned name is Johnny asks. "It's dangerous."

I shrug, "it'd be more dangerous if you two would walk me home then have to walk all the way back to your house or if I stayed later and walked home."

"True," he chuckles. "I'll catch ya later Ava."

"Bye Ava, I'll see you tomorrow," Pony smiles. As they go to run off Pony looks at me and smiles, "oh yeah ad if you change your mind or ever need a place to stay stop by my house."

He hands me a slip of paper with his phone number and address on it then runs off with Johnny, "thanks Ponyboy. I'll see you both tomorrow."

I should of went with Ponyboy that night because, what happened a few moments later is something that I'll never forget.

I run off the other directions towards my house when I hear a familiar voice, "Bob, I am gonna kill it with Avery eventually. She's like a tiger I bet."

"Sexy in the sheets," another guy slurs.

"Randy?" I mumble.

I hear two hands slam together followed by a drunken slur, "what did you tell her about her greaser friend Ponyboy?"

"Avery?" The guy mutters. "Just that he tried to drown you."

"That's rich!" The other guy claps. "Randy, what's your plans after you get her in bed."

I peep around the corner and my heart breaks slightly as he shrugs, "keep her around a bit then dump her for some other chick."

Tears roll down my cheeks, "Randy?"

"Avery!" He gasps.

"That's all I am to you!" I yell as I sob.

He shakes his head drunkenly, "no, Avery I care about you."

"What did you do to Ponyboy?" I command.

"Nothing," he fights back.

I cover my mouth as I sob, "you're lying to me."

"Get over it toots," the other guy throws a full beer bottle at me, the glass shattering all over at my clothes get drenched in beet.

I roll my eyes, "if you think you have a chance with me, you must be insane."

I go to walk away, but Randy grabs my wrist whipping my body into his, "don't walk away from me doll."

I groan in pain as I look down and see blood dripping from my wrist as his hand turns red with blood, "Randy please."

His grip tightens and there's an evil behind his eyes. He smashes his lips against mine forcefully. I try to fight it, but the more I struggle the tighter he holds me. He's holding my body weight tightly and I can feel his grip get tighter with every second.

His grip loosens for a split second and I push him off me making him fall to the ground. I go to run away, but I hear a loud voice, "not that easy Avery!"

My face flies down and hits the concrete. As I sit up warm blood drips down my nose. Randy walks over to me, "where ya think you're going love?"

I go to punch him, but he blocks me quickly catching my wrist and twisting it. I yelp out in pain, "Randy! Stop!"

"Sorry!" He yells and pushes me to the ground.

Bob chuckles, "shall I leave you too alone?"

Randy nods before he climbs on top of me. I breathe slowly as I remind myself in and out, in and out, in and out. He grabs my head and slams it against the concrete I yell loudly, but that's the last thing I can do before the world around me turns black.

"What happened next mom?" My daughter asks me eagerly.

I look over at her father and chuckle. It's not really funny, but he'll know why I'm chuckling. "I think mommy needs a break," he smiles.

"That'd be nice, maybe even talk to Ponyboy," I wink before walking away leaving my daughter on the edge of her seat.

"Mom!" She yells after me. "Not fair!"

Oh my god! I am so excited for this book. I like how it's like this is what happened in the past then in like the italicized words it's what Avery is saying. What do you guys think? Stay gold. Do it for Johnny!
