Chapter 61
''What...the?'' Jodie groaned, rolling over, a sharp beeping sound filled her ears. She didn't know the exact time, but she did know it was way too early to be getting up.
It wasn't as if the dinner last night had overrun late into the night. Overall it had been a nice dinner. Jodie had gotten to know the girls a little bit more. They in turn perhaps learnt a little more about Jodie than she would have cared to admit; mainly because of Taylor's big mouth and no concept of boundaries. Despite that, she and Marshall had both agreed it had been a successful night.
''Mar...shall,'' she had decided to poke him in his side; since he hadn't even so much as moved an inch once the alarm had started. Thankfully the poking had worked and, Marshall rolled over to finally silence the alarm.
''Sorry, I have to be up for soundcheck and stuff,'' he mumbled, pressing a light kiss into her hair, ''I was hoping you'd sleep through like you normally do,'' his apology was sincere, but it didn't mean Jodie was happy about being woken up early again.
''As long as I don't need to be up I'll forgive you,'' Jodie muttered, with a small yawn, attempting to bury herself back under the covers, ''but I'll join you for lunch like we planned,'' she added quietly afterwards.
Jodie just about felt Marshall leave a kiss on her cheek, barely hearing him whisper how he couldn't wait for her to see him perform later. She did, however, hear the loud shouting and knocking on her hotel room a couple hours later.
''Jodie, you up? We're leaving soon,'' Taylor's voice drifted through from the other side of the door. The statement caused Jodie to bolt upright in bed, she'd managed to sleep through till near midday, meaning she was nowhere near ready to go and join them for lunch with Marshall.
''Er... Yeah, just give me a second,'' Jodie shouted back, mumbling shit under her breath. Shifting herself to the edge of the bed Jodie bent down to reach for the crutches that had been tucked neatly by the side of the bed.
Looking over at her watch that lay on the bedside table she figured she had roughly ten to fifteen minutes to get ready or at look least presentable. A shower was immediately out of the question, mainly because there was no time and also she would have needed help. Not wanting to give up on general hygiene completely, Jodie settled with brushing her teeth and spraying whatever deodorant and perfume she could find. Next came the clothing and with a quick wave of her arm out of the balcony door, she settled on a t-shirt, jeans and a leather jacket. Before then throwing on a pair of random shoes that were already out of the suitcase. Finally, she drug a brush painfully through her knotted hair.
When she eventually got to the door another knock echoed through the room. This time she was able to open the door. On the other side stood Taylor and Paul, both with concerned looks on their faces.
''What?'' Jodie shrugged, looking between the pair.
''Marshall's been going nuts, he called you, you didn't reply,'' Paul cut straight to the chase, something Jodie had noticed; Paul never glanced lightly over anything.
''Um I was still sleeping,'' she replied rather sheepishly.
''See told you that's what it would have been,'' Taylor pointed out, however, Paul didn't seem as amused.
''Why don't you call him to let him know that we're on our way,'' Jodie felt like saying yes dad, but restrained herself, settling for a nod in response instead. By the time they had reached the lift, Marshall had picked up the call.
''I'm guessing you've been really busy in bed this morning then?'' was the greeting she was met with. A sense of relief overwhelmed her. He wasn't mad, in fact, Marshall seemed to be in a good mood.
''I may have napped a little longer than intended,'' she shot back, giggling as she heard him give and over exasperated sigh from the other end, ''a least I'm awake now and I'll be there just in time to catch the end of your rehearsal so don't through a hissy fit just yet.''
''Who said I throw tantrums when I don't get what I want. I bet it was Paul, don't listen to him,'' Marshall responded. Jodie could feel the smile growing on her face as he continued to make jokes, mostly involving Paul. Many she wasn't going to repeat in front of the poor man.

''There you are come meet some of the team,'' before Jodie could so much as breath Marshall had whisked her away to meet a large group of people. By the time the last person had been introduced her, she'd already forgotten who the first one had been.
''So then I'll...'' Marshall continued to explain what was going to happen in his set. Jodie wanted so badly to have her full attention on him, but the unread text flashing onto her phone screen caused her to stop listening.
The text had been sent last night and her phone was reminding her that she hadn't opened it. Even though she could only see who had sent it and the first few lines, Jodie just knew the texts would keep coming till she replied.
''Hmm, I really need the Loo, could you give me a second,'' she whispered into Marshall's ear, kissing his cheek softly.
''Ya need any help?'' He asked, placed a hand on her arm before she turned around with her crutches.
''I think I can manage but thank you,'' the excuse seemed to satisfy him as he left her to turn around and head towards the toilets.
Leaning her crutches against the side of the cubical, Jodie sat down and pulled out her phone to read the text.
Joe: I made a list of reasons why you're too good for Marshall since you ain't listening to me.
Jodie sighed reading through the list Joe had sent her, picking apart every point he had made. She also couldn't understand why him having a beard was apparently a reason not to be with him.
Jodie: Pretty sure you have a beard too.
That was all she replied with. A part of her, figured she shouldn't have even acknowledged the text, but knowing Joe he'd just keep badgering until he got her to say something she'd regret. He wanted something to use against her and she'd be damned if he got it.
The best thing Jodie could have done that day was block Joe's number, but she didn't; that may have just been her biggest mistake.
