Chapter 6
Marshall Mathers: So is your friend ok?
Jodie glanced down at the text she had just received and sighed. Of course, he hadn't been into her, he'd probably seen her and Taylor leave and decided it was the tall blonde he prefered over her. Although it still didn't explain how he knew she was on the dating site. Denaun probably told him, that was the types of conversations they'd have at the Diner, plus she had told him what site she used and frequently asked her if she'd been out with anybody lately.
The time by the side of the message ticked down to saying she'd received it three minutes ago. Jodie knew that in an attempt not to sound rude she needed to answer him.
Jodie Kingly: She's ok, just all little drunk. Didn't throw up either which is an achievement for her.
The second she answered she deleted the slide, put the notifications for the app on silent and carried on getting ready for bed. It was already around three in the morning and she knew that if she at least wanted a decent amount of sleep before Blink wanted letting out of her room, which would be in around two hours, but she guessed he'd sleep for longer since it was much later than usual.
Three hours later Jodie woke up to blink scratching at the door. Huffing she lifted the duvet cover off her so she could walk two feet across the room, just so she could push the door open. Blink, trotted off around the corner to god knows where leaving Jodie to trudge half awake back to her bed.
She'd just snuggled back down in amongst her sheets when her phone started to ring. Groaning she reached over to the bedside table where she had left it and ran her eyes over the contact information. She was met with the name Dad and a picture of him flashing at her across the screen.
''Good morning, I was beginning to wonder if you were ever going to pick up,'' her father got a huff in response. The notion of one being cheery in the morning was something Jodie didn't exactly sympathise with, especially when it came to her father.
''How are you this awake?'' She grumbled out, pulling herself into a seated position. Jodie wasn't in the mood to greet him with her own good morning, she felt the huff she gave him was enough to let him know that it wasn't a good morning.
''I'm still at the club, we had a little difficulty with those men who gave Taylor that ecstasy. How is she by the way?''
''Um, well she was fine when we got in. I took her straight to bed and I haven't heard her wandering about or throwing up since the club. So I'mma say she's doing ok,'' Jodie responded running her hand down her face in her slightly tired state, ''anyway, why are you calling? Cause if it was about Taylor then that really could have waited until an acceptable time on a Saturday morning,'' she added.
''Ah yes. Now I remembered that you said you knew one of the friends that were with Eminem last night. What was his name again?'' Jodie frowned, but never the less gave him the name he was looking for, ''yes Denaun, well some left their wallet last night at the club and it was found one of the booths. I was wondering since you said he goes too that Diner you work at, at the same time each day, you could give it back.''
''Why don't you just hand it into the police?'' She questioned not quite understanding why he wanted her to give it back. She also wanted an excuse to go back to sleep and not wake up until twelve, but the length of the conversation had her wasting her sleep time on the phone to her dad.
''And fill out a bunch of paperwork as to where I found it. I ain't got time for that sweetheart. Please for your dad, I'll give you an extra night off if you do,'' the thought of having a Saturday or Sunday night off caused Jodie's ears to perk. The promise of an extra day off could me she gets out of doing something at the club she really doesn't want to do, like dress up during one of the themed nights; which she always hated, especially Halloween because she could never tell who was who.
''Fine I'll do it.''
''Good be over in an hour ok,'' he hung up before she could protest. There went her dream of having a decent night sleep.

''Sup Jo, you're a little early though,'' Davey joked as he let her in through the front.
''Fuck you, I'm so not in the mood. I got no sleep and I will blame it on which one of Denauns friends left their wallet here,'' she snapped back at him, before walking past him on the way to find her Dad.
She had hoped, she wouldn't have had to wind her way through the corridor to get to his office. So it was just her luck that one of the cleaners told her that was where he was; stuffed up in his office. Scanning her card on the door she trudged her way along that very corridor until she reached her fathers, unsurprisingly smoke-filled office.
''Ah glad you made it,'' Terry got up from his chair, it groaned slightly as he left it, pushing it slightly behind him as he filiterd through the lost property box located on top one of the filing cabinets that littered the room. Jodie wasn't entirely sure why they had them because it appeared that they were never used and to her knowledge had nothing of worth inside them.
It didn't take him long to fish out the wallet that had been put in there from last night. With a slight wobble in his step; something Jodie had noticed rather recently, he handed it over to her.
''I don't think this is Denuans,'' Jodie spoke up just before she turned to leave. It wasn't the same one she'd seen him use countless times at the Diner, but then again he could have more than one and if he did then Jodie had some questions.
''Well whoever it belongs to was with him last night and they need it back'' her dad muttered, while he lowered himself back into his chair.
''Right yeah, I'll see you tonight,'' he nodded, which Jodie took as an invitation to leave.

''So she works here?'' Marshall asked as he grabbed one of the menus that had been placed in the centre of the table.
''Yeah. Why you asking me this, you said you actually messaged her last night?'' Denaun pointed out, not bothering to look over at the menu, the staff would know what he wanted anyway.
''I mean we were, but I don't think five texts and no answer from her meant it went well,'' Marshall sighed, reaching up to secure his hat on his head, ''I mean I don't understand she was nice and shit yesterday, then she just ignores me.''
''Gimme your phone whatcha write,'' Marshall debated for a second. Once he understood that he could trust Denaun her pulled his phone out of his pocket and brought up the conversation from last night. Straight away Denaun shook his head sighing.
''Dude why'd you ask about Taylor man?''
''What I thought I was being nice you know since she wasn't well,'' Marshall responded scrunching his eyebrows in confusion.
''Yeah, but to a girl, you just met then messaged on a dating site, will think you're interested in the other girl you just asked about.''
''Shit,'' Marshall cursed bowing his head, before placing his hands over his face in frustration, ''I'm a fucking moron.''
''Nah, it's ok girls just other think shit like this all the time. Jo more than some believe me,'' Marshall lifted his head up and just stared at his friend. He was hoping for some advice on how to fix the situation, but it seemed Denaun was just going to brush it off as not a big deal.
''Man tell me how too...''
''Hey Jo,'' he whipped his head round to she Jodie walk into the Diner the door slamming closed behind her as she made her way over to there table.
''Though she didn't work on weekends?'' He whispered across to Denaun.
''She don't. I got no idea why she's here.''
