Chapter 47

''Taylor?'' Marshall opened the door to the blonde, who had a mischievous smile on her face. Jodie had been with him for around and week now and this was the first time Taylor had decided to show up.

''Um, so it's girls night and Jo was too scared to ask you so I decided to just turn up with wine and food,'' it was then that Marshall looked down and saw to bags along with a box.

''Whoa, whoa is that like a box of wine?'' He asked raising an eyebrow, ''it's only you and Jo right?''

''Oh no the box is for you, I only brought two bottles, so can I come in,'' Taylor smiled as Marshall moved out the way to let her through. She picked up the two bags but left the box on the ground.

Since it was apparently for him, Marshall bent down and picked it up. He puffed out a breath of air when he realised it was a lot heavier than he'd first thought.

''Blink buddy you gotta move otherwise imma squish you with this box,'' Blink had started to circle Marshall's ankles, purring, it was his way of saying he wanted attention, ''Bro, give me a second,'' Marshall sighed dumping the box by the stairs before he went to give Blink the attention he so desperately wanted.

''Yo, how come he didn't come to you for attention?'' Marshall asked, peeking his head into the living room, where he saw Taylor and Jodie already suppressing giggles.

''Blink doesn't like Taylor,'' Jodie replied, twisting the bottle of red wine that Taylor had snuck in (not that he tried to stop her).

''He doesn't like loud noises so that why. You open the box?'' Taylor explained before asking the question.

''Not yet, that's what I wanted to ask. What the fuck is in it cause it's real heavy?''

''Just bring it in here and open it please Marsh,'' Jodie pleaded, giving him her signature puppy dog eyes. Eyes that he'd been finding difficult to say no to over the past week.

Rolling his eyes, Marshall went back into the hallway to retrieve the box. At least this time he knew how heavy it was and so wasn't as surprised as last time. Making sure he wasn't going to accidentally stand on Blink, who had suspiciously disappeared all of a sudden. Shrugging, Marshall carried the box into the leaving room, where Taylor and Jodie were waiting for him.

''If this is some sort of joke, you can go live with Taylor for the rest of you recovery,'' Marshall seriously spoke, pointing the scissors that he'd fished out of one of the kitchen draws a few minutes earlier.

''Marshall just open the damn box,'' Jodie huffed, swing the red liquid left in her glass. She and Taylor had been waiting for him to open it for the past twenty minutes, but he'd kept making comments and conversation.

''Ok, ok. I'm opening it now,'' Marshall sighed taking the scissors and cutting across the tape, ''holy shit,'' the girls giggled as Marshall started to mumble over the contents of the box.

''He's cute when he gets all nerdy isn't he,'' Jodie giggled and she watched her boyfriend fawn over the contents of the box.

''I thought you said I couldn't have any of these?'' Marshall pointed out as he shuffled through the box that he now knew contained (he was pretty sure) all Jodie's comic books she'd shown him.

''Yeah well I had a chat with my dad and he likes you so...'' Jodie couldn't finish her sentence before Marshall pounced on her.

''I can't express how much I love you right now,'' he muttered between placing kisses on every inch of her face.

''Should I go?'' Taylor piped up trying to suppress her laughter at watching her friend being mauled by an over-excited rapper.

''Yes.''

''No.''

''Erm, I think you both need to discuss which one it is,'' Taylor pointed out as they both had different answers.

''Come on Marsh I haven't seen Taylor for at least two weeks. Also the second you've gone through those comic books I can guarantee she would have gone home,'' Jodie explained hoping that the comic books would distract him enough so she could have some much-needed girl time with her friend. It wasn't like she didn't like living with Marshall, she loved it in fact, but she needed to catch up on all the gossip with Taylor.

''Promise?''

''Promise,'' she leant up to give him a quick kiss and taking the bait, he left the room to find space for his news stash of comic books.

''Honestly, I didn't believe you when you said he'd go nuts over them,'' Taylor laughed shaking her head as she finally started to unpack the food she'd brought.

''Yeah, but it's the least I could do you know since he's been looking after me so well,'' Jodie responded.

''Hmm true. So anyway enough about you and lover boy. What happened at the Diner?'' Taylor asked, causing Jodie to suck in a lot of air before slowing blowing it out again.

''Well, he saw the pictures of me and Em, like the entire world and no lie he said, since you're dating a millionaire now, I don't see why you need this job and that was it. Denaun pretty pissed about it said they've lost a loyal customer,'' Taylor couldn't help but snort.

''I bet you he'll be in there the next time you walk past, he likes the food too much,'' Jodie shook her head as the giggles started to bubble up in her throat.

''Taylor leave the poor guy alone, maybe he liked the company too I mean I enjoyed our chats in the morning. He's like an actual gossip,'' Jodie revealed thinking back to the time Denaun started to become a regular.

Four years earlier

''Back again,'' Jodie joked as the same guys she'd be serving for the past week came in again for breakfast, ''Hm let me guess,'' she started tapping her lips as she pretended to think deeply about what she was about to say before the reading off what he normally ordered.

When she came back with his order a smile grew on her face as she held the plate away from the counter.

''Since you've been in here a lot how about I get a name in exchange for your food,'' he raised an eyebrow at her, cracking a smile.

''Denaun.''

''Whoa, wait as in Denaun Porter, Kon Artis.''

''Yeah, wow normally when I say that everyone always asks about Marshall,'' Denaun responded as Jodie placed his food in front of him.

''Well if  I ever meet Marshall that's when I'll talk about him and he ain't here so I'm asking about you,'' Jodie smile pulling up a chair and leaning her elbows on the counter, ''So tell me about you.''

They then spent the next twenty minutes and twenty minutes of every morning five times a week just talking about themselves for the next four years without fail.
