Chapter 32

''Ya not stopping for lunch?'' Dre questioned, cocking his head to the side as he noticed Marshall staring intently down at his notebook.

''Nah I think I'm gonna go over some of my rhymes, you go through,'' Marshall responded not looking up from his page. Thinking it was best to just leave him to his thoughts rather than pressure for an answer; from experience asking questions never ended well.

Marshall was then left alone and he began to quickly wish he had convinced Dre to stay or taken up his lunch offer. He'd been hoping to get another song on paper, but his conversation with Jodie that morning was very much stuck on his mind. He was trying desperately not to overthink the situation, praying that Jodie really was thinking it was too fast and not that he suddenly wasn't good enough for her family in England.

''Bet they're all posh,'' he muttered throwing his pen across the room, unfortunately, he threw it in the direction of the door, which happened to open causing the pen to smack Denaun in the centre of his forehead.

''Fuck man, why you throwing shit around for,'' Porter bent down to pick up the pen that had landed a little way in front of his feet.

''Did Jodie tell you about a wedding?'' Marshall blurted out, slumping back in his chair.

''Yeah, she told me. Ages ago though, what? She ask you to go?''

''No, she said the opposite actually, like she doesn't want me meeting the rest of her family,'' he grumbled in response, running his hands down his face.

''She says that? cause that don't sound like Jo,'' Denaun shrugged.

''Who's side are you on. She doesn't want me to meet her family man,'' Marshall spit out, he was starting to work himself up and he needed to get his feelings out somehow.

''I know, I just wanna know exactly what she said, Jo can say shit without thinking it through. Reminds me of you to be honest,'' he added with a smile, which he quickly wiped off judging from the glare he received from his friend.

''She said what bothered her the most was that it was in England like said going to the wedding together was fine, but cause it was in a different country she thought it was weird,'' Marshall explained.

''So I'm taking that as a no then,'' Denaun muttered, getting the answer to his question he had to ask twice to receive.

''What do you mean no?''

''She didn't specifically say she didn't want you to meet her family,'' Denaun pointed out, causing Marshall to put his hand up in protest.

''Yeah, but she fucking implied it man,'' Marhsall whinned.

''You know I gotta pretty good solution, talk to her cause if you don't, think about Budden swooping in scooping her up; I gotta feeling he's gonna keep trying to speak to her. Just keep that in mind man,'' Denaun stood up to pat Marshall on the shoulder before moving towards the door.

''Wait, where are you going?''

''I'm leaving you to sort out you're own shit, I love Jo like a little sister and you like a brother I'm not getting involved in no argument,'' Porter reached for the door handle, which moved away from him as it was opened from the other,'' side.

''There isn't an argument,'' Marshall defended, although he seemed to fail in convincing himself of that one let alone Denaun, who rolled his eyes before tilting his head back towards Marshall so he could respond.

''Yeah, there ain't one yet.''

''Ain't one yet, what?'' Dre had walked back in from his lunch break, skirting around Denaun so he could get back into the room.

''Marshall's got girl trouble,'' that was Porter's final comment before he left the room.

''The same girl from yesterday I'm guessing?'' Dre posed the question as he pulled his previously abandoned chair towards him so he could sit down.

''Yeah, and how'd you know about that?''

''Saw her leaving, she's cute man. Although I'm hoping she was wearing some kind of uniform,'' Dre's attempt at making a joke feel on deaths ears as Marshall appeared to be unamused, ''what'd you do?'' he then added, which made Marshall's expression turn even sourer than it had already been.

''I didn't do shit. I just can't understand why she doesn't want me to go to her cousins' wedding with her in England. Fucking England that's the fucking problem man England,'' Marshall's voice rose every time he repeated himself.

''Damn, I'm thinking the wedding may be in England.''

''You gonna help me or not?'' Marshall complained, fed up with lousy advice he was being given.

''Talk to her, that's my advice,'' Dre shrugged, pulling his chair to get closer to the mixe; he now wanted to get some work done.

''Is that it.''

''Yes, I don't know what else to tell you. Now can we actually get some shit done please.''

''We're not going to be getting any late-night visits that I need to know from any rapper boys tonight ?'' Taylor asked as she flung her Denim jacket on. The question was directed towards Jodie, who sat curled up on the sofa with Blink resting peacefully on her lap.

''No, it'd be a surprise though that's for sure,'' Jodie murmured in response causing Taylor to frown at her.

''You two got a problem?'' Taylor asked, midway slipping her heels on.

''He's the one with the problem. I explained to him why it wouldn't be the best for him to come to my cousins' wedding cause I think it might be too much at that stage,'' Jodie explained, sitting up from her position as much as she could, without disturbing Blink.

''I don't see the problem, I'd take him, no big deal. Although that's my opinion, you probably pissed him off about your one,'' Taylor shrugged, picking the keys for the car up of the bowl that sat on the sideboard next to her, ''anyway I'll see ya later.''

''No wait, what do you mean I've probably pissed him off about my choice?'' Jodie asked, jolting Blink awake as she highlighted into the hallway in order to stop Tayler from leaving.

''Well I mean it kinda looks like you don't want him meeting your family in England I mean he'd met your dad, only because he came to the club. Just think about that while you spend the rest of the night watching reruns of The Big Bang Theory,'' leaving Jodie with her dropped jaw Taylor left, swinging the front door shut behind her.

''How was I supposed to know he'd take it that way?'' Jodie grumbled into thin air as she went back to cuddle with Blink on the sofa all the while trying to figure out how to straighten everything out with Marshall.

She had a perfect idea, it had just formed in her mind when the doorbell went off. Without giving it much thought she leapt up; scaring Blink again for the second time that evening, running for the door. He brain instantly went to marshall, so when she opened the door she expected him.

''Get lost,'' she shouted slamming it shut when it tuned out not to be Marshall.
