Chapter 23

''Blink,'' Jodie called as she stepped over the threshold, Marshall right behind her. He hid his amusement as the furball over a cat came bounding down the stairs to purr at Jodie's feet. He watched as she put so much care and attention into picking him up, he purred constantly, his affection for Jodie was clear.

''I still can't believe I gotta complete with your cat for cuddles,'' Marshall mumbled as he closed the door silently behind him. Jodie didn't say anything to start with as she just laughed, but the pouting face of her now-boyfriend; boyfriend the word may her all giddy inside.

''Aw it's whoever gets there first, you snooze you lose. isn't that right,'' she cooed, scratching the top of Blink's head before placing him down on the floor, ''right now you can cuddle,'' she stumbled back as he engulfed her squeezing her tightly to him.

''He can't hold you like I can,'' he pointed out, taking a sideways glance down at Blink, who was now sitting at the foot of the stair, his tail whisking around behind him hitting the step every now and then.

''Yeah, but Blink doesn't speak so...''

''Oh now you're getting it,'' he warned.

''Getting, wh...'' Jodie squealed as he lifted her up off her feet and onto his shoulder. Her head hanging down at his back as he held her legs in front of him.

Blink skittered out of the way running to hide behind the plant pot adjacent to the door as Marshall placed a heavy step on the stair. Jodie huffed and tried to wriggle free, but Marshall kept a firm grip on her.

''Put me down now,'' she shrieked, trying to contain her laughter as he carried on up the stairs, ''I needa start getting ready for work soon,'' she whinned.

Marshall just kept quiet as he found his way to her bedroom, thankfully it was marked with a plaque that read 'Jodie and Blink.' Shaking his head he pushed open the door and nearly stumbled over a fake mouse that lay in the entranceway.  Ignoring Jodie's pleas he dumped her down on the bed and then went back to pick the mouse up, he squeezed and Jodie giggled as the high pitched squeak it made startled him.

''Is this your room or the cats Jo, cause I really can't tell?'' he frowned as he saw the pet bed littered with hair and toys scattered collectively in one corner.

''Does it matter?'' She questioned raising an eyebrow.

''No, I just don't get why he can't ya know not be in here...'' He trailed off a little unsure of how to word what he wanted to say without upsetting her.

''Well you're not living here so why does it matter?'' Jodie stood up and wandered over to him. She trailed her hand down his arms and over his chest as she looked up at him.

''I guess not,'' he muttered, although a small part of him still found it to be a problem, but before he could say anything else Jodie's mouth was at his neck and he'd forgotten his thoughts altogether.

''Oh my god Jo is that a Hicky?'' Jodie squeezed her eyes shut as Taylor squealed at her.

''Yes,'' Jodie sighed as Taylor began inspecting her neck, ''now could you please help me cover it up,'' she begged, waving the concealer and foundation at Taylor excessively.

''I don't know why you're bothering it'll be dark and your dad only talks to you if there's a problem,'' Taylor sighed as she took the bottles out of Jodie's outstretched hand.

''Just cover it up please.''

''Fine, it's your fault you know,'' Taylor pointed out, directing the comment to Marshall who lounged on the bed flicking through a comic book he'd find stuffed on one of Jodie's bookshelves.

''She gave me one first,'' he absentmindedly shrugged. Taylor oohed and Jodie felt the heat rise across her cheeks as she blushed a deep red.

''You little vixen you,'' Taylor joked hitting a hand down on Jodie's shoulder as she buried her head in her hands.

''Remind me while you're still here Marshall,'' Jodie groaned.

''Cause you never asked me to leave and I won't now even if you do ask,'' he winked at Jodie and she caught it through the mirror.

She laughed shaking her head as Taylor tried to keep her head straight so she could apply makeup to cover up the obvious Hickey she had on her neck. It wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't visible under her work clothes.

''There you go all done, now quite moaning,'' Taylor finished placing the makeup back down on the table.

''I kinda like the moaning,'' the smirk was visible in Marshalls tone, Jodie didn't even need to look into the mirror to see it

''Oh god,'' Jodie groaned.

''That's good too.''

''I'm seriously regretting not asking you to leave now,'' Jodie sighed as she wandered over to him whipping the comic out of his hands.

''Hey I was reading that,'' Marshall whinned as he watched her dump it in the bin by her desk, which caused him to have a mini heart attack, ''you can't throw that out.''

''Why not? I don't want it and you've read it at least a hundred times while you were waiting,'' she shrugged opening her wardrobe in order to grab a pair of heels and her coat.

''It's rare that's why and I ain't got it and if you don't wanna I'll just take it,'' he answered reaching into the bin to retrieve it.

''You collect comic books?''Jodie questioned, she hadn't really thought about it until then, she'd noticed him rap about certain superhero characters before, before never really pinned him as being much of a fan.

''Yeah I got a ton,'' she could tell by the way he tried to hide his little smile that he was proud.

''Well I wanna see it next time I come over.''

''Wait really I thought you didn't like em?'' Marshall pointed out looking at the one in his hand as he asked.

''I do It's just I've never really kept them and I now realise that kinda breaks your heart,'' she added wrapping her arms around his neck as he stood still clutching the one she'd placed in the bin.

''It's ok I ain't got a heart.''

''Hmm, I'm not so sure about that,'' she hummed giving him a peck, ''now come on I gotta go to work.''
