Chapter Two

I closed my journal and left my pen on top of it. I quickly headed out, waving goodbye to Hunter as he was working on his homework.
"Go make me proud!" He called as I closed the door.
I smiled and stepped out into the darkness of Everton. It was filled with tons of woodland so it was bound that at least some of them were in there. I grabbed the silver stake as my current weapon of defense and kept track of my surroundings as I ran across the street and took my first step into the Everton woods.

All was quiet except for the twigs breaking beneath my feet as I walked. There would the occasional owl hooting in the distance but that was about it. The silence was horrible, to be honest. Especially since there are supernatural creatures possibly roaming around here.

Suddenly, I felt the force of something as I fell to the ground. I saw a guy with red eyes and blood trickling down the sides of his mouth. I quickly grabbed the silver stake and tried to stab into his heart but he dodged swiftly.
"Cute." He said, chuckling. "You're trying to kill me. Well, guess what? It's not going to work. You'll lose."
"Not if I have anything to say about it!" I said, removing my purse and throwing it to the ground so that I would have a better time fighting. Using the moves that I learned in karate (Thank you Mom and Dad for forcing me to go. It's finally coming in handy.), I kicked him to the ground but he quickly got back up. I knew that vampires were fast and that they were going to put up quite a fight. He threw himself on me, trying to go for my neck but I dodged swiftly.
"Man, you really don't put up much of a fight." I said. "I thought vampires were badasses."
"Please, we are." He said. "And if you don't think so-"
I tried charging at him in order to stake him but I was a split second too slow and he dodged right away.
"Clever, but not clever enough." He said. "You're going to have to put up much more of a fight than that if you think you're going to win."
"You're right." I said. "You win. You're a master fighter and I'm just a weak human. But I don't want that anymore. Make me one of you."
"I see what you're doing." He said, crossing his arms. "And it's not going to work."
"Fine." I said, starting to walk away. "I guess you don't want my blood then. That's fine. Starve to death if you want. That's not my problem."
"Wait!" He called. I smiled because my plan was working. "I'll turn you into a vampire!"
"You will?" I asked, turning back towards him. "Oh, thank you so much!"
"Put down the stake and come over here." He commanded.
"But how do I know you'll turn me into a vampire if I come over there?" I asked. "I think you should come over here."
"And how do I know you won't try to stake me if I come over there?" He asked, crossing his arms. "Come over here."
"Let's meet in the middle." I suggested. "Deal?"
He sighed and said, "Fine."
I pretended to put the stake down and secretly stuck in my back pocket in the process. I walked up to him and he looked like he was ready to drink my blood.
"Expose your neck." He instructed as he allowed his fangs to show. "That's how the process is going to begin."
I smiled as I moved my hair out of the way.
"There you go." I said. "It's all yours."
Right before his fangs made contact with my skin, I quickly grabbed the stake from my back pocket and proceeded to drive it into his heart. I was concerned for a split second that I hadn't punctured the heart but that concern went away as soon as he sit the ground and became motionless.
"One down, five to go." I said, removing the stake from his heart. "But I fell bad killing him. He was just an innocent victim."
As I was walking away, I heard him speak again and my heart jumped into my throat as soon as words escaped him.
"Woah, what happened?"
I breathed a sigh of relief and went over to him. The blood was still on the sides of his mouth but his fangs were gone. I couldn't believe it.
"It's a long story." I said, holding my hand out to him. "Here. You look like you could uses hand."
"Thanks." He said, smiling. He spoke with an adorable British accent, just like Dan did. Except this guy's was a bit different than his. He probably came from a different part of Great Britain.
"So, what happened?" He asked. "The last thing I remember was walking with my friends."
"Like I said, long story." I said. "I don't know if I really have time to explain it."
"Please." He begged. "I have to know what happened to my friends and I."
"Fine." I said.

"No way!" He said. "You're telling me that you killed me when I was a vampire and now the rest of my friends are supernatural creatures too?"
"Yep." I said. "That's basically what's going on."
"Can I help you?" He asked. "It's the least I can do for you saving me."
"I would love the extra help but I don't want you getting hurt." I said. "Your parents are probably worried sick about you."
"Yours too." He pointed out.
"Mine are at a party so they don't know I'm out here doing this." I said. "Just go home. I know what I'm doing."
"If you say so." He said. "I'm Phil, by the way. What's your name?"
I told him.
"Wow, that's a pretty name." He said. "See you around."
He ran out of the woods and I listened as his footsteps became fainter and fainter. When they were completely gone, I looked around and saw a pair of red eyes peering out at me from a bush and I knew that I would be killing another vampire next.
