Ch 16

A/N: Hey everyone! Hope you guys liked the last chapter. So, we got to know that it was Rabastan who had seen Hermione and Draco together. Do you think he will stop there? Read the A/N at the end to find out when the next chapter will be out. On with the chapter!

Draco Lucius Malfoy had been standing behind a pillar next to the fireplace after the Dark Lord had dismissed all of them, searching for a book he knew was kept somewhere there.

But this time, he hadn't left Hermione alone.

The muggle born witch was crouching down next to the fireplace, looking here and there for the same book.

It was then that they heard something very shocking.

"You!" Voldemort grabbed Rabastan's collar and hissed, "You should be killed right now for even thinking about doing that."

"M-my Lord-" He tried to plead with him, but was cut off.

"But I have more use for you." He continued, "You should feel lucky that you were the one who saw Draco Malfoy with a girl looking like Mudblood Granger."

The blond heir, with wide eyes, looked down at his wife who was sporting a similar look and crouched down next to her.

Voldemort hadn't yet realised that the two young witch and wizard hadn't left the room with others, due to him being so focused on displaying his anger to Rabastan.

Hermione quickly used the Disillusionment charm on both of them, and allowed Draco to pull her closer towards him.

Her husband tucked her head under his arm, positioning him near one end of the fireplace so that if they were discovered, at least the muggle born witch wouldn't get harmed because of any spell. The two leant against the fireplace and listened to the ongoing conversation, not even daring to breath properly.

"B-but you yourself saw that the Malfoy boy does not really care for his wife at all, my lord." Rabastan said.

"Their affectionate display at breakfast proved otherwise."

"That is just a fake drama by them, my lord." The wizard insisted. "And I can care for Amelia way better than that Malfoy can even think about doing so. I am begging you, my lord, please kill that Malfoy boy or send him far away, so that I can finally be with my Amelia. My Amelia whom I love so much-"

"Enough!" Voldemort roared. "Love makes people weak, you fool. No loyal follower of mine would ever allow themselves to be able to love a person. Love is for the weak, we just want the power. And Amelia is nothing but a way of getting more power in Italy. She has no value to me."

"My lord... Amelia will be happy with me. And if she is happy then-"

"I don't care at all about her happiness, Rabastan." The Dark Lord smiled sinisterly at him. "All I care about is power. Draco Malfoy is quite famous here, specially because of his animosity with Harry Potter. And so if anyone hears about his marriage to Amelia, then that will simply be beneficial for me, as he is my follower. If anyone else would have had that kind of animosity with Potter, then I would have given Amelia to him. And I don't care at all about what happens to her. She could be treated like a scum, a servant for all I care, but that is after I gain what I want in Italy."

Draco clutched Hermione a little tighter to him when he heard those words. Nothing would happen to Amelia, or Hermione, under his watch.

"What if I managed to become more famous than Malfoy, my Lord?" Rabastan asked him.

"Then Amelia is yours."

"Consider it done then-"

"You think yourself of too much importance to me, Rabastan. You are, however, a mere servant to me. Draco Malfoy is my follower-"

"HE IS JUST DOING AN ACT OF BEING LOYAL TO YOUR SIDE, MY LORD!" The younger Lestrange brother tried to make him believe his point. "I am telling you, this is all just a plan of his. He wants to accomplish something else. Otherwise why would he first betray you during the Battle of Hogwarts and then join you back again? He is trying to fool you, my lord, and unfortunately it seems like you are falling into his trap yet again-"

"Crucio!" Voldemort pointed his wand at him and hissed, "You will never speak like that of me again. I can read people's mind, if you have forgotten. And if indeed, as you say, Draco Malfoy is betraying me, then not only him, but his whole family would pay for that. I would make them suffer hundred times more than they did after the Battle of Hogwarts. They would beg for me to kill them, but I would mercilessly torture them. Make them suffer through things they would never even imagine about. And all I need, for that to happen, is a smallest sign of Draco Malfoy just doing an act of being loyal to me."

Hermione squeezed Draco's hand when she heard those words. She would not let the Dark Lord do anything to him, or his parents.

"But my lord," Rabastan started, his voice weak because of the Cruciatus Curse. "How would you know if that Malfoy boy was indeed with the Mudblood Granger girl? As I was drunk, I could not see her face properly, and that is why my memory was a bit hazy."

Hermione and Draco breathed a sigh of relief at that.

But their eyes widened at the next moment.

"And I have a plan to find out about that girl anyways." The Dark Lord said. "Draco Malfoy would never be able to even think about this."

"And what is that, my lord?"

Hermione and Draco held their breaths as Voldemort slowly turned away from Rabastan, and looked around the room.

Thankfully, the nose less wizard's eyes didn't pay much attention in their direction, they quickly flicked away, back towards the other wizard.

"A memory potion." The Dark Lord finally answered him. "And I have already started brewing it. Draco Malfoy would have no idea what hit him, that is, if that girl indeed turned out to be Mudblood Granger."

"A memory potion? I have never heard about it before, my lord." Rabastan frowned.

"I am not surprised by hearing that." He shook his head. "There are very few people in this world who know about this potion. And that is exactly why it is perfect for our problem. Nobody would even suspect me of brewing such a potion."

"And this is why you are superior than everyone else, my lord." Rabastan smirked at him. "But how does that potion work exactly? Will the results of the potion be hundred percent accurate? Most importantly, when will that potion be ready for us to use it?"

"So many questions." Voldemort narrowed his eyes at him. "You should feel lucky that I am not torturing you again for even trying to ask me about something without my permission, that too after what you did, and tried to do to Amelia."

"I am sorry, my lord-"

"But," He continued, "Your questions will be answered soon enough, when the potion would be ready, Rabastan."

"And when would that be, my lord?"

The Dark Lord turned around, his eyes looking at something near the fireplace, as if he knew that Draco and his wife were hiding there. Slowly, a smirk made its way to his face and he said, "Tomorrow. The potion would be ready tomorrow."

----------

At midnight....

Pansy woke up with a gasp as she felt a person's fingers dancing on her neck. She wildly looked around and found a wizard staring at her.

That wizard being none other than Theodore Nott.

"What are you trying to do, Theo?" She whispered, keeping in mind not to make too much noise as they never knew when the owner would be back, or if someone else decided to barge in there.

"Oh Luna." Theo smiled dreamily at her, leaning forward to rest his head in the crook of her neck. "You know how much I missed you, right?"

"Lun- oh right, you are still under the effect of that unknown spell." The witch groaned, moving her shoulder to shove his face away.

Just as Pansy and Theo had been about to enter the shop in which Luna had went a few hours back that day, the brunette wizard had been hit by a spell before either him, or his friend could figure out how to defend themselves.

Fawley, the Death Eater who had been behind that incident, had vanished as soon as Pansy had recovered from the explosion that the spell had caused. Unfortunately, when the witch had regained her senses, she had found that Theo had been affected by the spell.

The unknown spell, acted like some sort of a modern love potion. But instead of making the person become obsessed towards the person who had given the potion, this spell made one think about the person they love all the time, and see that person everywhere.

In addition to that, the spell also made a person lose all of his senses, and act like a little kid. Which was exactly how Theo was acting then. He thought that he was with his girlfriend Luna at that moment, instead of Pansy, and could think about nothing but the blonde Ravenclaw witch.

Pansy had then dragged both of them to the shop where Luna had been last seen in, and they had been hiding in a dark corner of the store room since then. Thankfully, as the next day had been a Sunday, the shop had remained closed all the time, but, Pansy hadn't gotten a chance to search the shop as it had glass walls, and even if the shop was closed, Diagon Alley had still been crowded like always.

And they could not even use their magic, as the Death Eaters had placed wards around the area, and so even a single spell used by them, would immediately alert the members of the Dark Lord's Army of their location.

And so, the two Slytherins had no choice but to wait for the owner to come to the shop, and somehow, they would either convince the owner to help them, or, they would be forced to imperius him.

"Oh my moon." Theo's whisper brought Pansy out of her thoughts. "You are so beautiful. These blonde silky hair of yours, your bright blue eyes and those-"

"I am sure your dear girlfriend will appreciate you complimenting her, but I am honestly not interested in knowing all of this." She rolled her eyes, knowing her friend was about to say something vulgar.

"You know that I love you, right Luna? I love you sooooooooo much." Theo continued, stretching his arms as much as he could. "This much. Or wait, even more than this. This world cannot understand my love for you."

"I cannot understand her love for you." Pansy muttered. "How can anyone even tolerate you, let alone decide to date you? I feel bad for Luna, honestly. I am so ashamed to have you a my friend, Nott."

Theo completely ignored her. "You know, I had wanted to propose to you after the Battle when the Order won, but Potter sucks and so we lost. No worries, I will ask you to be my wife as soon as all of this is over."

"This is news." The witch's eyes widened. "You are going to propose to her? Wow. I wonder if Luna knows about this because you cannot hide anything from her. Literally."

Before Theo could say anything else, Pansy got up with a sigh and decided to rummage through the shelf next to them. Luckily, she found something that would definitely help them, well, help her actually.

She quickly made the Slytherin drink the sleeping drought, and when he had done so, she allowed him to rest his head on her shoulder, choosing to keep guard while her friend took a nap-

-And stopped annoying her for a few hours.

She didn't know when she fell asleep.

But after nine hours, she was woken up by a door opening and immediately sat up on the floor.  She poked her head through the little space between two cupboards that they were hiding behind, and saw that the owner had returned to the shop.

"Pansy?"

The raven haired gasped and looked around, only to find her friend looking at her and then rubbing his tired eyes.

"I am Pansy only, right?"

"What rubbish thing are you talking about?" He rolled his eyes at the witch. "Are you drunk or what?"

Instead of reacting to his irritated statement, Pansy silently squealed and threw her arms around him. "Oh I am so happy, Theo. The spell must have been a weak one. Or perhaps Fawley must have used it weakly, he was never a bright and skilled Death Eater anyways. And-"

"What are you even blabbering about?" He frowned at her. "Did Blaise propose to you or something? Is that way you are so excited and don't know how to react so you are saying nonsense stuff?"

"Blaise definitely hasn't but I know who is going to propose to the love of their life soon." She winked at him. "Let's hope Luna will like the ring you have chosen, if you even have done that, that is."

Theo gaped at her, but she ignored him. "Let us-"

Suddenly, they heard the owner speaking to someone.

"Oh that blonde witch?" The owner asked. "I heard the Death Eaters took her to one of their Manors. I guess it was the Manor of one of the friends of Draco Malfoy."

Theo and Pansy knew who it was.

----------

Luna flipped her head around when she saw someone's shadow following her. Thankfully, she didn't have to worry about which spell to use on that person.

"Luna! Where have they been keeping you? I checked the other side of the Manor but I couldn't find you there and I thought that-"

The blonde witch rushed forwards to hug the person before the sentence could even be finished. She was so grateful to have seen a familiar face here.

"But you are fine, aren't you?" Dean asked as he wrapped one of his arms around her, his other arm, the wand arm, holding his wand in a tight grip. "Did they hurt you a lot?"

"It is fine. I am fine."

"Luna, just tell me the truth."

"The Death Eaters did not get to hurt me much." She pulled away from him and shrugged. "I escaped before they could. The presence of Blibbering Humdinger around them helped me, actually."

"The presence of what and what?" He blinked at her.

"Blibbering Humdinger." She repeated. "They are known to roam around your head, putting unnecessary information in your brain so that the people forget what they were trying to do, or about to do."

"So the Blibb- whatever, are like that Confundus spell?"

"You can say that, but the Blibbering Humdinger are a lot more useful than that spell. Actually, that spell was made because not everyone can control those creatures. I can tell you how to do that though. All you need is just-"

Suddenly, the dark haired wizard bust out laughing. After wiping the tears from his eyes, he squeezed Luna's shoulders. "Oh Luna, I had missed this so much. Thank Godric I decided to search this area of the Manor and found you here."

The witch simply smiled dreamily at him. Luna and Dean had become the best of friends during their time at the Malfoy Manor, when they had been captured. The two had helped each other not to lose hope, and survive.

They had even become friends with Draco, the latter would deny that, when the Malfoy Heir had helped them as much as he could, snuggling in food and water, and putting fake bruises on them using his wand after he healed their wounds.

This time, Dean had been kidnapped a few days before Luna, but luckily he had been able to fake his death to the Death Eaters a day before, and so they had decided to leave him lying there in the dungeons only. But, instead of escaping the Manor, the Gryffindor wizard had decided to search for Luna, after he had heard from the Death Eaters that she had been brought there as well.

It had took him a day to finish searching the dungeons and dark side of the Manor, as he had to avoid being seen by anyone, but when he had entered this side, he had encountered a Death Eater.

Fortunately for him, he had learnt a few muggle defensive techniques, and so even without a wand, Dean had managed to knock out the Death Eater, and had left him there only, after taking that wizard's wand, and obliviating him.

"Dean!" Luna's gasp brought him out of his thoughts.

The Gryffindor wizard quickly pulled his wand out, turning around with a spell on the tip of his tongue when he suddenly paused.

"Dean?"

"Terry! Seamus!" Dean gasped. "What the heck are you guys doing here?"

"Shouldn't I ask you that question, idiot? I had freaking warned you not to get caught." Seamus glared at his boyfriend. "But of course, since when have you listened to me? Never. That is the correct, and well, only answer as well. You always have to go-"

"And you keep reminding me of why I love you so much again and again." Dean grinned and ran forwards, not stopping until he was directly in front of him and took his face into his hands, kissing him lovingly.

While the two were busy among themselves, Terry awkwardly stood next to Luna and looked everywhere but her.

"The Nargles are roaming around your head." The witch commented. "You better watch out for them. And if you want, I can help you."

"Oh, thanks, I guess." He scratched the back oh his head, moving to stand a little away from her. "Uh well, how did you escape from the Death Eaters anyways?"

"With the help of Blibbering Humdingers, of course." She answered, as if it was so obvious. "It is all thanks to them, really. I would not have made it out if it weren't for them."

"Oh. I guess that is good, maybe." Terry looked awkwardly at her. He really did not know what to talk about with her.

After all, she was the girl he had bullied ever since she had stepped foot in the Ravenclaw Tower. Bullied her just because he thought she was a bit, well, very eccentric.

He just hoped that Dean and Seamus finished their couple's moment quickly so that they can escape from the Manor, and he would not have to try his level best to have small talk with the blonde witch.

As if they wanted to obey him, the two wizards pulled away from each other.

Terry sighed. "Finally. Now we can all leave-"

"How did you and Terry even get captured, Seamus?" Dean asked him.

Damn you, Dean, Terry thought.

"It was all my fault, really." The Irish half blood wizard sighed. "We had been given a mission by the Order, to free all the Order members and some muggles who had been kidnapped a few days back, and were kept locked in a small hut in the outskirts of Hogsmeade. It was all going smoothly, we had freed all of them, and erased the memories of the muggles. But then..."

"But then a Death Eater unexpectedly arrived there." Terry continued for him. It was better than standing awkwardly next to the witch anyways. "He did not see us, thankfully, but he did manage to capture a small muggle girl again. He held a knife in his hand, quite close to her neck, actually, threatening to kill her if anyone even dared to leave. I had some bottles of Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder, so we were able to make all of them leave, including that girl. We started running away from there, as Apparition would have alerted the other Death Eaters as well."

"We had almost escaped the warded area when Seamus tripped and injured his leg badly." The Ravenclaw wizard sighed. "He told me to leave without him, but I refused. I supported him as he tried to walk, but well, we were caught and brought here. And we managed to escape an hour back because apparently, the Death Eater guarding our cell was quite a naive one, and he did not suspect us trying to trap him, and so, he let us leave. Thankfully, he had a spare wand, so we both, Seamus and I, got a wand."

"We should leave." Luna chimed in before Dean could react to the story. "The Nargles are telling me that danger is near, very near to us."

The wizards nodded and turned towards the door, to leave, when they heard footsteps approaching them.

"We need to hide, quick. I don't think we can fight all of them with basically strangers' wands." Dean whispered to them.

Terry had just been about to hid behind a cupboard, when he was blinded by a flash of green light, and a second later he found himself on the floor.

Next to him, was Luna Lovegood, lying with her eyes closed in the same spot as he had been a second back.

Just then, two more people entered the room, and stopped short at the sight in front of them. One of them, the wizard, collapsed on the floor.

"LUNA! MY MOON!"

-----------

"So why have you two called us here?" Lucius asked as he and his wife sat down on the couch, and watched their son putting some extra charms on the door.

"I am afraid that we may have almost ruined the plan, and we need your help." Hermione slowly said.

"You are completely barmy if you think I will help you-"

"Lucius." Narcissa quieted him. "Come on, Hermione. Tell us what happened. We are ready to help you in any way possible."

"But Narcissa, why do I have to help this mud-"

"If you speak that word one more time, I will call you Lucy in front of everyone. And when I say everyone, I mean each and every witch or wizard existing in our Wizarding World." The Malfoy matriarch whispered to him.

Her husband gulped and chose to stay quiet.

He really did not want his wife to call him by that name in front of everyone, he had suffered enough embarrassment as it is from his ancestors' portraits because of his son not following the blood purity beliefs and rules.

"So," Draco began after Hermione nudged him in his ribs, "We have encountered a problem. A few days back, Rabastan managed to see me with Granger-"

"What?" Narcissa gasped. "How can you be so reckless, my stupid dragon? How dare you jeopardise the plan-"

"Let me speak, Mother." The Malfoy Heir rolled his eyes. "He did see me with Granger, but he isn't clear if it was really her only. As we heard from his conversation with the Dark Lord, he was drunk, and so his memory is a bit hazy. Rabastan just knows that the girl looked like Granger, and he told everything about that to the Dark Lord. For some reason, the Dark Lord did not really believe him, he did not think that I would try to betray him once again, but freaking Rabastan had to bring that topic up again."

"He tried to convince You Know Who that Malfoy being his follower was just an act, a hoax, and in reality, Malfoy would never be loyal to him." The Brightest Witch of Her Age sighed. "Rabastan did all of that just because he wants to be with Amelia, and You Know Who told him that if he became more famous than Malfoy, and more powerful than him as well, then Amelia would be 'given' to him. That is his only goal, nothing else."

"Rabastan then asked the Dark Lord how would he know if I was betraying him or not, and specially, if the girl whom I had been seen with, was indeed Granger or not. It was then that the Dark Lord revealed that he had a way to find out that. A way which no one even knew about, and so, according to him, I would have never been able to guess what was it."

"The memory potion." Narcissa whispered.

"How do you know about that, Mother?" Draco frowned. "You were not eavesdropping on that conversation as well, were you?"

"I am not like you, my idiotic dragon, who loves listening to other people's conversation. Unlike you, I actually know what proper manners and etiquettes mean, and how to follow them."

Hermione stifled a chuckle next to the Slytherin Prince.

When he glared at her, she burst out laughing.

This was probably the only thing she liked about being Draco Lucius Malfoy's wife.

She got unlimited entertainment, at any time of any day.

"The memory potion is nothing new or unfamiliar to us, Draco." Lucius ignored the muggle born witch's laughter and Narcissa smile at that. "It is quite ancient, and so, very few people know about it. There are some Pureblood families who have not even heard about it. But we know."

"Then you can help us in our plan." Draco smirked.

--------------

A few hours later....

"I am already regretting this." Lucius muttered. "Why did I have to be present in that room at the time this plan was being made? This is such a bad decision- Oww! Cissa!"

"Can you honestly just shut up?" She shook her head. "You had to be present because I dragged you to the room because our son and daughter in law-"

"She is in no way our daughter in law-"

"You are just in denial." Narcissa rolled her eyes. "My baby dragon married her, albeit in a disguise, and so, she is our daughter in law. Plus, they are soulmates as well and so, you have no choice but to accept her and if you don't, then you can always feel free to sleep outside in the garden and-"

"Okay, we should start our plan." Her husband interrupted her, and then spoke in a very low voice, "So many damn plans. I wonder what I did to tolerate this."

The Malfoy matriarch nudged his elbow to quiet him just as a Death Eater rounded the corner, and walked towards them.

"Abrien!" Lucius called him. "Your help is needed here, actually."

The said Death Eater paused in his strides and directly stood in front of them. "What do you want my help for, Malfoy? And speak quickly, I am in a bit of hurry here."

Narcissa watched as her husband engaged the Death Eater in a talk about some random task and slipped away to the kitchens, towards witch Abrien had been about to go in, as it was his turn to guard the kitchens.

She saw the House elves doing their work and called one of them to her. "Micky, please tell me in which ball room the get together is going to be hosted in a few minutes."

The house elf looked at her with her big brown eyes and answered, "The one near the main drawing room, Mistress."

"Thank you, Mickey. Now can you please give me the key which would work for the lock on that door?"

Mickey hesitated for a second but when the Malfoy matriarch smiled at her, she conjured the key and gave it to her. "There you go, Mistress."

Narcissa thanked her again and left the room. She could have used the key she had, but she knew that if she even touched it, the charms would immediately give her a shock as Voldemort had recently changed the wards on all the keys.

She found her pet owl, Cara, sitting on a window sill and quickly gave the key to her, instructing her to give to her daughter in law.

On the other side of the Manor, Hermione, after she had received the key, tiptoed towards the entrance of the ball room, where a large number of Death Eaters were gathered, and uncorked the vial in her hands.

Quickly pulling her wand out, she whispered a spell while pointing it at the opening, She watched as the wisps of pink coloured powder spread around the room, already starting its affect on the people present there.

The Brightest Witch of Her Age checked her watch and counted down to the minutes it would take to achieve the desired results.

Within a few minutes, several loud thuds were heard, and the muggle born witch smirked as she saw every single Death Eater lying down on the floor, their eyes closed as they enjoyed a deep slumber.

Hermione entered the room and locked the doors behind her. They were quite lucky that the Dark Lord, along with a few Death Eaters, had left the Malfoy Manor a few hours back, and wouldn't back until tomorrow morning.

For some reason, the remaining members of Voldemort's army had decided to throw a small get together in the ball room, and Hermione and Draco had made sure to use this opportunity to their advantage.

Hermione waited by the door until she heard four knocks on the door, perfectly timed and with a specific pattern. "Code?"

"Peacocks are better than dragon."

The Gryffindor witch smirked and opened the doors, to see Narcissa, smirking back at her, and a grumpy looking Lucius next to her.

She ushered them inside and locked the doors again. "All of them are knocked out, and would be in this state until tomorrow morning. We should complete our last part of the plan while Malfoy does his work."

The Malfoy couple nodded and set to work. Hermione joined them and together, the three of them put lightweight and Disillusionment charms on the Death Eaters. After that was done, Lucius made sure to open the door of every room, where the members were staying, of the Manor, and checked the wards once again.

"We should quickly finish our work." The blond haired wizard said and conjured a few long tables using his wand. He put several Death Eaters on top of one of them, added a Disillusionment charm and levitated it. "I will be back."

As he left the room with the table, Hermione and Narcissa nodded to each other and did the same thing. The pure blood witch left the room first while the other witch waited for Lucius to come back.

Eventually, the three managed to put all the Death Eaters back in their rooms. Hermione took her galleon out, and quickly sent a message to her husband.

Time for the last part of their plan.

In the west wing of the Manor, stood Draco Lucius Malfoy, going through the details of the memory potion again and again in his head as he waited for his wife to send him the message.

Just then, the galleon in his hands became hot.

Everything done.

The Malfoy wizard smirked and rushed towards the end of the corridor he was in, towards the Potion room. One of his favorite places in the whole Malfoy Manor.

The Slytherin Prince looked around once and then quickly removed all the charms from the doors. He knew he was taking a risk here, removing all the wards at once, as a signal would probably be sent to Voldemort.

But the signal would take at least nine hours to reach the said person, as Voldemort had left the continent. And in approximately those many hours only, the nose less wizard would be back at the Manor.

And so, if Voldemort were to feel the wards being removed, it would be at the same time as he would enter the Manor, and the feeling of the charms strengthening which he had himself put around the Manor, would overcome the feeling of the wards being removed.

With that thought in mind, Draco entered the room and started searching for the potion. His father had told him that in the brewing stage, the potion should be of a dark greenish grey colour.

As he had enough knowledge of the room, the blond wizard managed to find the required potion in a few minutes.

Draco breathed a sigh of relief as he saw that the potion still had not brewed completely. He took his wand out, and just as he had pointed it at the cauldron, the door opened.

"If it isn't the Malfoy boy here."
