CHAPTER FORTY-TWO: DEMONS !
9x24
━━━━━━
"SPENCER!" Casey immediately rushed to her fiancé's aid as Morgan and JJ made their way into the diner to take care of Preacher Mills. Spencer was barely conscious, he was in and out, Casey trying to keep him awake.
"Spencer—hey." She smacked his face a little bit. "Hey, stay awake for me, okay? I need you to stay awake, baby. Keep your eyes on me." Casey said, trying to remain calm for him but she was freaking out internally. She pressed down on the wound on his neck to stop him from bleeding out.
Blake ended up joining them and offered to replace her hand to stop Spencer from bleeding out. "We need a medic now! There's too much blood!" Blake announced to the officers around them. "Hey. Hey, you're doing great, all right?" Spencer managed to get a small smile out to Blake.
"Yeah. You gotta stay right here, okay?"
Spencer closed his eyes and fell limp for a split second. "Spencer, I need your eyes open, okay?" Casey shook him a bit. Casey could barely hear herself as Spencer went in and out. All she could hear was her ears ringing and Blake trying to get help. "No, no. No. Ethan? Ethan! Open your eyes. Hurry! Hurry!"
The next thing Casey knew was that the medics were finally there and Spencer was now on a gurney and Casey was refusing to leave his side. Blake walked alongside her, on the phone with Cruz, Penelope, Rossi, Hotch and Vivian, informing them of what was going on. She stood in front of the ambulance where Reid was getting taken into.
Tears formed her eyes once more as she saw Spencer taken in, a hand on her shoulder interrupted her moment with him. "Hey, I'm gonna go with the kid, okay? I'm gonna make sure he's okay." Morgan assured and Casey breathed and nodded to his words. "Thank you." She said, nearly pushing him into the ambulance. As the doors closed, JJ and Blake led Casey over to the car to go to the hospital to go and see him.
Spencer and Morgan had been inside of the ambulance, one doctor was treating Morgan's wounds as the other treated to Spencer's. "T-The sound is like a teakettle. Do you hear it?" Spencer asked groggily and Morgan looked at him in confusion. "What?"
Spencer closed his eyes for a second and the machine connected to him began to beep fast. "Pressure's dropping. Pulse is thready. Starting large-bore IV."
"Reid!" Morgan called.
"Agent, you've got to sit back." The doctor treating to Morgan's wounds warns. "You gotta help him, man." Morgan tells the doctor helping Reid.
"Kid, come on, now. Stay with me. I'm right here. You got the woman you're gonna marry waiting at the hospital worried for you and a kid at home who needs two of his parents, so stay with me, Reid." Morgan told. He knew that Casey would never forgive him if Spencer died on his watch. Or if he didn't do anything to try and stop him from dying.
━━━━━━
Casey sat in the waiting room, biting at her fingernails in nervousness, her leg bouncing up and down. Her mind trailed over with thoughts. What if he was dead? What was going to happen if he died? What if he didn't make it on the way to the hospital? What's gonna happen to Christopher if he grows up without his father? What was she gonna do then? What's happening? What's going on?
Casey couldn't admit it coherently but she thought Spencer really died once he got shot. She thought that that had been it. And she would've died right there, too. But that would've made Christopher an orphan. Oh, poor Christopher didn't even know what was going on. I mean, how could he? He was a baby and he was back home. JJ had taken the liberty to call Edith and tell her what was going since Casey couldn't. The women with Casey surely thought Casey would've passed out by now.
Realizing that Casey began to disassociate, pacing in the room as she did so. Pacing helps. Pacing helps. She kept muttering to herself until JJ stepped up to her. "Hey..." Casey rubbed her eyes. "S-Sorry." Casey stuttered. "I think you should go wash yourself up. You've got blood all over your hands." Casey looked down and didn't even realize. It was his blood on her hands. "Come on, let's get you to the bathroom."
Casey washed the blood off of her hands and had even doused some water onto her face to keep her in focus. It didn't end up helping much.
The woman sat with Blake in the waiting room now, waiting as they had now prepped Spencer for surgery. JJ left for a moment and Casey sprang up as she came back. "Anything yet?" She asked. JJ shook her head. "No," She had then sat down next to Casey and Blake.
"Spence would have read like two books by now." JJ told, trying to find some light in thinking of him. "Maybe three."
"It should have been me." Blake muttered quietly. "Or me or any of us." JJ said and Casey looked down. "No," Blake cleared. "He pushed me out of the way." Casey puts a hand on Blake's hand and assures her, "Oh, Blake, don't blame yourself for that. Spencer has a good heart, it's what he does. He would've done it for any of us. Oh, God, if he doesn't make it..." Casey sniffles, trying not to cry again.
"He'll make it." JJ told, putting a hand on Casey's now. "He has to," Blake added. "He's just--he's too young." JJ nodded, "Yeah, there's still things for him to do. Like, get married to you." Casey smiles a bit at the comment.
Casey sniffles again but she looks up with a small smile to a thought she had. "You know, he's always wanted kids? He was so excited when he found out I was pregnant with Chris. And I was so nervous when I found out. But I knew that if I had Spencer, he would be there every step of the way." Casey looks down at the tissue she's losing, fiddling with it.
"And I mean now... he looks at Christopher like he's his entire world. He would never ever leave him. He wants more kids, but, I don't know..." Casey looks up towards the ceiling. "And now he finally has a son and..." Casey couldn't even bring herself to imagine what Christopher's life would be like without his father.
Blake puts a reassuring hand on Casey's thigh. "Christopher's the luckiest kid in the world. He's lucky to have you and Spencer as his parents." JJ nods to the woman's words and their moment is interrupted by Cruz and Garcia walking into the waiting room.
"Hey." Garcia spoke softly before JJ stood up to hug her. "You made it." Garcia goes over to Blake and hugs her next. "Yeah, turns out we're not the only one that's connected and he knows somebody with plane."
Garcia then makes her way to the most worried person in the room and that's Casey. "Oh, fair maiden." Garcia holds onto Casey. "I'm so glad you're here." Casey says softly. They pull away finally. "How is he?" Garcia asks.
Casey wipes a tear from her eye. "Uh, he's still in surgery."
A doctor comes out, "You all can see Agent Morgan now." He informs. Casey sulks back into her seat, refusing to leave. JJ and Garcia look towards Blake, who glanced over at Casey and then up at them. "Well, if you don't mind, I'd really like to stay here."
JJ looks towards Casey. "Hey," Casey looks up at her. "The second you hear anything, call me." Casey nods. JJ begins to walk out and Garcia then speaks towards Casey. "Hey," Casey looks up again. "I'll be right back." Casey gives the woman a small smile as she walks away.
Casey looks towards Blake. "You could've gone with them." She mentions and Blake looks her way. "I could've, but I feel like I owe him." Blake looks down, fiddling her thumbs. "I meant what I said earlier. Spencer just has a big heart. It's not your fault. At all. I don't blame you, I don't think he does either. As long as he knows he saved you, I think he's gonna be fine." Casey explained to the woman.
"He's got so much to live for." Blake told. "He does," Casey continued. "But so do you. He cares about you. You're the only person that seems to understand him."
"You're wrong," Blake said. "Because you understand him. More than anybody here. It's why you guys... work together. You can balance a job and a kid and managing your time for each other, all at once? Now, that's love."
Casey smiled at the woman's comment. "You and James are the same way, you know," Casey mentions Blake's husband. "You find time and you manage it." Blake looks down. "Yeah, but... what if it's not enough time?"
Casey looked down and remembered something Blake said to Spencer. She was too focused on him at the time but remembered she had caught it in the back of her head. "Ethan? Ethan!" Casey then looked at Blake and studied her carefully. "Who's Ethan?" Blake's head whipped towards the girl at the mention of the name.
"I remembered that you called Spencer 'Ethan'. I-I don't want to pry, I just... was curious." Casey told. Blake looks down and doesn't talk at first. Casey decides to forget what she had said to Blake and leans back in her seat, nearly praying for a doctor to come out and save this conversation.
"Ethan was my son," Blake starts, causing Casey to look at her in surprise. "He died when he was nine. Doctors said it was neurological, but they didn't have a name for it. Still don't. That drove me crazy. No word to put to this thing that took away my greatest love." Casey breathes, she couldn't even imagine losing her son, let alone from a neurological condition that you couldn't put a name on. "I watched him die. And he was ready. But I wasn't." Tears nearly pricked up in Blake's eyes as she spoke.
"So when I saw Spencer, there... I..."
"You were brought back." Casey spoke, finishing the sentence for Blake. "No disrespect to his mother at all, but he looks at you as the mother he wanted growing up. Just like you look at him as the son you wanted." Casey read through Blake like a book. She lost one son and she thought she'd lost the other one.
The conversation ended there and Blake and Casey had stayed in that waiting room for what felt like hours. Two hours then passed. Blake had been pacing in the room, looking at the walls for some sort of distraction and Casey had sat down in her seat, head in her hands.
"Agents..." Casey's head snapped up to an unfamiliar voice and she immediately stood up, Blake by her side. "How is he? Is he okay?" Casey questions. "Agent Willows, your fiancé is incredibly lucky. Two millimeters to the right and the bullet would have torn through the carotid artery."
Both Casey and Blake sigh in relief. "It nicked some smaller vessels, but we've stopped the bleeding." The doctor continued. "Can we see him?" Casey asked. "You can see him now." The doctor nods.
Casey grabs her jacket and she turns to Blake. "Can you call—?" The girl didn't even need to finish the sentence. "Already on it." Blake said, dialing JJ's number into her phone. Casey had managed to run into Garcia in the hall and the doctor led the three into Spencer's room.
Spencer laid there, unconscious and a clean bandage over his neck. He was in a hospital gown and his hair remained untouched, messy, the way Casey liked it. Casey took a deep breath once she walked into the room and saw him like that.
The doctor left and Blake and Casey had pulled two chairs out and sat right next to him at his bedside. Garcia had tried to make the situation as better as she could and places figurines on the table in front of Reid. "It'll be so great if he wakes up... and this is the first thing he sees." Garcia smiled.
Casey manages to smile as well. "Yeah. The good doctor will always make him smile." Blake nodded. "No kidding," Casey comments. "He's trying to get Chris to like it, too. Soon, I'm gonna have to deal with two lovable nerds." She jokes.
The scene gets quiet again and only the machine beeping can be heard. Casey looks over at Garcia, who's standing in front of him, almost wanting him to wake up. "It'd be really great if he wakes up and we're all--ooh-- staring at him. So, I'm gonna go stand over here." Garcia goes to stand over at the window to stare outside.
Casey decides to move her seat closer to Spencer's bedside and holds his cold hand. That's how his hands always were — cold. But it was a good contrast considering he always told her that her hands were always warm.
"Hey, baby," Casey whispers. "I'm right here. When you wake up, I'm gonna be right here with you." Blake smiles at the two and Garcia turns back to the scene, with tears swarming in her eyes that she has to turn back to the window to dry them.
It had taken a little bit but Spencer had eventually woken up. Casey had leaned against the bed, still holding his hand. She felt him squeeze it and she immediately sat up as he stirred awake. "Spencer..." Casey muttered, getting the attention of Garcia and Blake, who immediately stood beside him. Casey almost lunged at him, holding him but being as careful as she could at the same time.
Garcia also gave him a hug and decided to go and get him some Jell-O since he was already asking for it as soon as he got up. Blake and Casey stayed in the room with him. "Are you okay?" Casey asked, tugging a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm good, considering I got shot in the neck." Spencer stated.
Spencer began to rub Casey's hand with his thumb as he spoke to her. "You didn't worry too much, did you?" He asked. "Babe, I've been worried ever since I saw you get into that ambulance. I'm just glad you're okay now." Casey told, ruffling a hand through his messy hair. He always did like it when she did that.
"When this comes off, I'm gonna look just like Boris Karloff." Spencer told, mentioning the bandage on his neck. "Yeah," Blake nods. "A little green makeup and you'll have the best Halloween mask ever."
"Do you get it now when I say that you understand him more?" Casey says to Blake. "What's that?" Spencer asked. Casey turns back to her fiancé. "Oh, nothing you need to worry about, babe." She said, leaning in and kissing his forehead.
Spencer then closed his eyes and Casey grew a little concerned once she had seen his brows furrowed and he had that look on his face. "Everybody's fine, don't worry." Casey told, trying to reassure him. "I'm not." Spencer tells. "You've got that furrowed brow." Casey told and Spencer opens his eyes and looks down at Casey's hand. "Yeah, well, your nails are bitten again." He retorts and Casey playfully rolls her eyes.
"Hey, hey, hey," Garcia spoke as she walked in with a tray of beverages. "Will you look who's still awake. Can you tell them they can go now, please?" Garcia says, motioning towards Casey and Blake.
"I'm okay, guys. Go help the team." Spencer assures and once Casey hears it, she sighs. "All right. We're out of here." Blake chuckles. She looks towards Spencer. "I'm glad you're awake." Spencer smiles a bit. "Thank you."
Casey leans forward to Spencer. "You gonna be okay?" She asks. "Yeah." Spencer assures her one final time.
Casey looks towards the bandage on his neck. "Hey, it may not feel so good right now, but... at least you'll have a sexy scar on your neck. We can tell Christopher you got it from slaying dragons." She smiles to herself at the thought as does Spencer.
The girl leans in to kiss Spencer on the lips. "I love you." Casey tells. "I love you, too." Spencer says back and Casey looks back at Garcia. "You call me if you need anything." She looks back at Spencer. "Or if he's misbehaving." She jokes.
With that, Casey lets go of Spencer's hand and heads with Blake to leave the hospital.
The two women arrive at the PD and walk in to see their team in a group. Two of the deputies look towards the two women walking in. "How's Dr. Reid?" One of them asked and Casey politely smiled, "He's awake." Blake added on: "He's gonna be fine."
"That's good to hear." The officer stated. Casey smiles towards the man and then makes her way over to the team. They're looking very secretive to her and look quiet. Blake and Casey immediately notice it.
"What's wrong?" Blake asks. "Let's take a car ride, Blake. I'll fill you in. JJ, send us the info." Rossi tells as the two walk out. "Will do." JJ nods.
Casey looks around at the team members as they are still very awkwardly silent. "Okay, what the hell's going on because you guys are all freaking me out." Casey stated quietly and Hotch pulled out his phone and sent a message to Casey's phone.
Casey pulled her phone out to check what he said.
boss-man hotch😐
Dirty cops. Listening in. Framed the preacher and Dinah from the bar. Act normal.
From those words alone, Casey's mood immediately changed. This meant that whoever was in charge of this was responsible for nearly getting Reid killed. That angered her. Casey cleared her throat and put her phone back in her pocket. "What do we know?" She asked in a hushed voice.
"We knew Coleman had only been here a year, but get this. He replaced a sheriff who also died." Cruz told. "Of what?" Morgan asks. "Allergic reaction to medication. He was in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound."
"Who shot him?" JJ asked.
"Got away," Cruz told. "Report says it was a drug raid that ended in automatic gunfire."
"Who wrote that report?" Morgan asked and Cruz looked over before answering: "Owen McGregor."
"So, the old sheriff realized that his office was corrupt. They staged a murder. That sounds familiar." Vivian told. Casey looked around at the office around, being more aware of her surroundings than ever.
"Then if the prostitute witnessed it and threatened to tell, that's what got them killed." JJ figures out. "On what date did the sheriff die?" Hotch asks. "Uh... It says here March 20th, a year ago." Cruz says. "The same day as the first victim, Lucas Wagner."
"So, Owen's had a whole year to figure out his end game." JJ says. "It all started on that night." Hotch looks towards JJ and Vivian. "You need to see if you can get Dinah talking, and you need to find out everything you can about Owen McGregor." Hotch looks towards Morgan. "Take Casey with you and fill her in on the rest of the things that have been going on."
Casey had gone with Morgan to the file room to get more info on Owen McGregor and called Garcia to get a handle on him. Unfortunately, Garcia recognized the man, seeing him in the hospital. Garcia was calm during the situation and made her way to Reid's room and successfully got him out of the hospital in a wheelchair and pulled the fire alarm so that he could leave.
Back at the PD, JJ had told Dinah that her son was safe and that she would be leaving with her and Vivian. Before they could step out, one of the deputies stopped them but Vivian assured them that they would be fine with Dinah. That didn't stop the man from grabbing Vivian and stopping her from leaving. Hotch then stepped in and that was when JJ, Vivian, Hotch and Dinah left.
Now, Morgan and Casey were on their way back to the hospital so they could try and watch over and get McGregor right where they wanted him. Morgan called Garcia to see what was going on on the way there. "He's gone, right?" Morgan asked as soon as Garcia answered. "He is gone. They're letting us back in." Garcia told.
"Thank God." Casey muttered. "All right, good. You did it, baby girl." Morgan nods. "I lost a couple karma points, but, uh-huh, I did it." Garcia tells. "All right, Casey and I are gonna be there in about 5 minutes." With that, Morgan hung up and looked at Casey.
The woman had been distracted by a photo on her cell phone — a photo of Spencer and Christopher.
Morgan looked at the woman, hand on the wheel. "You okay?" He decided to ask and Casey shut her phone off. "Yeah, yeah." She nods. Morgan gives her room to talk. She knew he could always go to him if needed. He saw it on her face. "No," She then admitted. "Not really."
"Derek, this was one of the scariest things I've ever had to go through in my entire life." Casey spoke. "I mean, my whole life flashed forward to the future where he wasn't there... and... I just... I could never imagine my life without him, you know?" It was true.
"He's okay, Ace." Morgan assured. "I know, now he is. But for that one moment, I was scared." Casey admitted. Morgan sighed and looked at the road ahead. They would be there shortly.
The car ride came to a halt and the two parked in front of the hospital and went to the receptionist to ask for Reid and they made their way to his room when all of a sudden, they heard a gunshot. On instinct, Morgan and Casey put hands on their holsters and looked at one another. "Was that a... gunshot?" Casey asked.
Realization painted their faces and they pulled their guns out and aimed them towards Spencer's room. They had spotted a doctor on the ground. He had been shot and Garcia kept muttering things to herself. "I didn't know how loud. I can't hear, 'cause my heart feels like it's gonna come out." She muttered.
Morgan leaned down and put the doctor in handcuffs. Casey realized what happened. Garcia had shot the doctor that almost killed Spencer. Almost killed the love of her life.
Casey rushes over to Garcia and takes the gun out of her shaken hands. "Can that happen? Physically, can your heart burst out of your chest? And what is this ringing? My ears don't pop for like a week after I fly, and if this is like that, that's gonna drive me bonkers." Garcia muttered to herself as other doctors came in to assist. "Pen..." Casey tries.
"Am I yelling? Because it feels like I might be yelling." Garcia asked. "You saved my life." Spencer breathed. Garcia had a shocked look on her face. "Can you hear me?" Garcia smiled through her tears. "Yeah, I heard that. That makes it better. Thank you for saying that." Spencer nods, "Thank you for doing it." Garcia and Spencer embrace one another in a hug. "Uh-huh. Okay. You're okay."
Casey sighed, "Yeah, he's okay." She makes her way around to the doctor that almost killed Spencer. "But he's not." She says, kicking him right in the stomach.
"Willows!" Morgan scolded.
"What? He tried to kill the love of my life. The least I can do is kick him in the side. He messed with the wrong one today." Casey told.
Morgan then looked over at Spencer. "The girl you're deciding to marry is crazy." He told. "Indeed she is." Spencer nodded. "But he likes me that way." Casey smirks.
━━━━━━
Long story short, McGregor was shot down — Hotch's courtesy and Vivian's help. It was all over. The rest of the station filled with double-cops had been caught and we're currently investigated.
That same night, Casey could finally bring Spencer home back to their apartment where they could finally rest. But Spencer had currently been doing some rest time on the couch on the jet. Casey had even taken the spot at the end of the couch, sitting up as she just watched him sleep, nearly falling asleep herself.
Penelope walked past them and stopped. "You sure you don't wanna just sleep in a seat comfortably?" Garcia asked. Casey stirred a little awake and looked up. "No, it's comforting me that he's actually getting rest." Casey told, resting her knuckles to her temple as she watches Spencer sleep like a baby. "So, you're just watching him?" Garcia asked. "You'd be surprised. He does the same thing back home. I sleep more than he does."
Garcia looked around the jet. "Huh. Look at this. It's a booked flight." She said. "Maybe with the year we've all had, uh, the brass will give us a bigger plane, you know." Cruz suggested.
Rossi, Morgan, Hotch and Vivian were sitting on the seats in the jet. "Yeah. Let me know how that goes." Rossi told. JJ had come towards the group. "What did the Rangers think?" Cruz sighs. "Sadly, they've seen this before. They're going to have their hands full cleaning the place up."
Casey spotted Blake on her cell phone, looking as if she was texting. Hotch's phone then buzzed and he checked it — Casey noticing as he furrowed his brow. "Hotch, don't tell me we have another case." Morgan said. "Are we turning the plane around?" Garcia asked.
"No," Hotch said. "No, we're gonna go home and get some sleep." He puts his cell back down. "Lots of it, I hope." Rossi comments. "I am starting now." Vivian said as she leaned towards the window.
Casey looked towards Blake and then back to Hotch. Blake was always a classy woman. She wouldn't announce something like to spark up attention. And from the conversations they were having at the hospital, Casey only came up with one conclusion.
Alex Blake just sent Hotch her letter of resignation.
━━━━━━
Once they landed, Blake had offered to help take both Spencer and Casey home back to their apartment. Spencer was still injured and Casey was, well, exhausted and barely got any rest on the plane.
She had driven Casey's car back to their place and offered to just take a taxi home. "You sure you're okay?" Blake asked as they went up the steps. "I feel great," Spencer tells and thinks about what he said. "Ah, that's overselling it. I, uh, I feel great considering I just got shot in the neck."
Casey had grabbed the keys from Spencer's hands and unlocked the door herself, meeting with her grandmother, who was quietly watching TV. "Casey. Spencer." Edith stood up. "Hey, Grams." The woman stood up and collided with Casey in a hug. "I'm so glad you two are okay." Edith then looked over at Spencer. "Oh, your poor neck. Are you doing okay, darling?"
Spencer nods, "As good as I can be." Casey then looks at Blake and Edith. "You remember our coworker, Alex Blake." Edith nods, "Oh, yes, hello." Blake waves towards the woman a bit.
Blake holds Spencer's satchel up. "Where do you want this?" Spencer looks towards the couch. "Any--right there is fine."
"Alright, you two look exhausted so I'm gonna head out. Christopher is out like a light." Casey looks at Edith. "Are you sure? You can stay in the guest room." Edith shakes her head. "Oh, honey, it's okay. Besides, I prefer the comfort of my own bed and I have something in the morning anyways."
Edith wishes her goodbyes to her granddaughter and grandson-in-law and leaves. "Well, now that that's situated, I'm gonna head to bed. I... am... tired." She begins to head to her room. "'Night, Blake." Blake smiles to the girl. "Goodnight."
Casey had collapsed right on her bed and waited a couple of minutes before sitting up again and getting ready for bed. She had taken off her shoes and sat at the end of the bed, ready for the day to just end. Spencer had come into the room and there was a sad look on his face and he was holding something.
"Spencer, what's wrong?" Casey asked softly. "Blake..." Spencer started. He held her badge up in his hand. "She left her badge." He looked down. "She left."
Casey didn't want to tell Spencer, but she had known. She knew within her gut that she was planning to leave and Spencer nearly dying had touched a nerve.
The two remained quiet for the rest of the night, the next words from Casey's mouth were 'Come to bed.' and the two changed into their pajamas and laid in the bed for the remainder of the night.
As soon as Spencer laid down, Casey immediately wrapped her arm around his torso. She had the sudden fear that if she ever let go, he would leave. And she never wanted that. Spencer had wrapped an arm around her body and held her close. She rested her head on his chest. The two swapped bed sides for the night due to Spencer's neck.
Casey nearly held onto Spencer for dear life, clutching onto him as if her life depended on it. Spencer's fingers danced on Casey's bare shoulder and she inhaled his scent and closed her eyes, wishing they could stay in that position forever.
It was at least an hour later and the two were both still very much awake, afraid to close their eyes in tears that the other would be taken away from them.
Finally, Spencer spoke up, realizing that Casey had that look on her face when she was thinking. "You okay?" He whispered softly to her and Casey nods, "Yeah. I'm more than okay. But please promise me one thing."
"Anything." Spencer said.
With that, Casey looked up at Spencer and looked him dead in the eye. "Don't ever scare me like that again." She said. Spencer nodded, wanting his best to keep his word. "I promise."
There's a pause and Casey leans back into his chest. He realizes there's something off and he knows that he needs to communicate better with her and how he wanted to her to get out whatever she needed to get out. "You got something else on your mind. What is it?" He asked.
Casey takes a breath before saying the next sentence coming from her mouth. She has no idea how he's gonna react. "I think we should call off the wedding." She said almost quickly.
"What?" Spencer asks and immediately gets upset. "Do you—do you not wanna marry me anymore?" He asks sadly.
"No! No, no, no." Casey speaks and looks at Spencer carefully. "That's not what I meant." Spencer took a breath of relief and laid back down fully. Casey rested her head on top of her head as she spoke. "I mean, that... when I saw you lying in that hospital bed, it made me realize that I need to cherish my time with you. And that life is way too short for a small wedding."
"I've been dreaming of my wedding day ever since I was a little girl," Casey revealed. "But eventually the dreamed died once I turned ten and realized what I wanted my career to be." She thought to herself as she continued. "It'd be all white, excluding red roses and the red carpet on the ground. There'd be a great view just outside of the building. Chandeliers everywhere. A big cake."
Casey looks at Spencer finally, realizing that he's been staring at her the whole time she's been talking. "And though, I would love a small wedding... I think we would need to go bigger. And I'm not fully calling off the wedding, I think we just need more time to plan. That's all we need. But I won't do it unless you're in, too."
"Well, I kind of have to do it now," Spencer chuckled as he spoke. He grabbed her left and held it in his, resting it on top of his chest. "You know I'd do anything for you." He told.
"I love you," Casey reminded to him. "Don't you ever forget that."
"I love you, too." Spencer smiled softly.
Casey leaned closer to Spencer and pressed a kiss to his lips and they would've continued to do more, had it not been for the crying baby in the next room. Casey looked down and rested her head on top of Spencer's body downwards and sighing loudly.
"You got it?" Spencer asked, nearly chuckling.
"Yup." Casey nods as she gets out of bed.
At the doorframe, Casey had taken one last look at her fiancé and smirked at him before heading to Christopher's room to comfort him.
