CHAPTER THREE: HENRY'S FAVORITE PROFILER !

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S NOT GOING? EVERY KID LOVES TRICK-OR-TREATING!" Garcia questioned JJ as the woman had explained that her son didn't want to go trick-or-treating this year. Casey and Rossi had been in on the conversation, also wondering why.

"Henry's scared," JJ said. "One of his little buddies told him Halloween was the only time when all the real monsters come out because they can blend in." Casey's ears perked up. "Who was it? I'll go all godmother on their asses. Show them what to really be scared of." The woman told.

The three chuckled as Rossi spoke: "Never thought about that, though. Good monster strategy." Garcia looked at JJ. "You did tell him it wasn't true, right?" She asked.

"Of course I did. But he's convinced." JJ sighed. "Childhood fears are resistant to adult logic. Sometimes you just have to wait it out." Rossi told. "For how long?" JJ asks. "Well, if he's 23 and this still worries you, you got a problem." Rossi tells, making JJ laugh a bit.

"Well, see, the thing is, I think I am partly to blame." JJ stands up from her seat. "How?" Casey asked as she, Garcia and Rossi followed her. "Well, the other night, Will and I were up late, we were having some wine, talking about some of the cases we've worked on, and at one point, I said I felt like there was no end to all the monsters walking around, and..."

Casey knew where this was heading and so did Rossi. "Henry sneaked into the room to listen to the grownups." Rossi told. "Yeah, we need a cone of silence for our house." JJ stated. Garcia chuckles and Casey offers, "I don't think I'm doing anything on Halloween. If he changes his mind, I'd be happy to take him."

"I thought you and Spence would've had some plans." JJ told but Casey shrugged, "Eh, well, he's more into this holiday than I am, I'd probably just bum him out. But taking Henry trick-or-treating would be fun." Casey told. "If you could convince him, it'd be great." JJ stated.

The four walked into the roundtable room and Casey took her spot next to her boyfriend. "Those of you who like a good mystery, please unleash your inner Agatha Christie, 'cause this one's a real humdinger." Garcia started it off.

"Gary Ellard, Barry Deaver, Paul Hicks, Terry Rodgers. Over the course of the last month and a half, these four men have gotten in their cars in La Grande, Oregon, and drove into the never-to-be-seen-agains-ville, poof, gone. The latest victim Terry Rodgers disappeared 24 hours ago." Garcia explained.

"Forensic evidence point us anywhere?" JJ asked. "Uh, point would imply there is evidence, and there is no evidence, at least for the first three victims." Garcia told. "No forensics, no witnesses, no ransom demands. Maybe these guys just voluntarily decided to hit the road." Morgan thinks. "Four sudden disappearances in a community this small-- this isn't about seeking green pastures." Rossi told.

"Based on last known sightings, we're dealing with a sizeable geographic area." Hotch told. "He's efficient and well organized. It's not easy to make four people vanish and stay vanished. He's probably got them hidden somewhere." Casey told.

"It has been done before, though. Political kidnappings frequently require holding multiple adults simultaneously." Reid stated. "Or they're already dead. Nothing says 'can't be found' like a shallow grave in the middle of nowhere." Rossi added.

"Assuming they are alive, how is the unsub controlling them?" Alex questioned. "And for what purpose?" JJ added on. "The time between abductions is shortening with each victim. Wheels up in 30." With that, the team headed onto the jet.

They were beginning to debrief as Garcia had called the team to see if she had found anything in the time being. "Garcia, anything on the last victim, Terry Rodgers?" Hotch questioned. "Only that he's unemployed and lives in a cabin in the woods. But primitive, like no flush toilet primitive."

"Completely different victimology," Casey started.  "Ellard coaches track and field at a local college, Deaver's a small business owner, and Hicks is an attorney."
"All married with young families." JJ added. "Another difference -- the first three victims were all born and raised in La Grande. Terry Rodgers only moved to town a couple of months ago." Rossi told.

"Do you know where from, Garcia?" Reid asked. "Rhode Island. Though there's a 5-month gap between Terry being in Rhode Island and then arriving in Oregon. Where he was and what he was doing is a big fat blank." Garcia answered.

Morgan looked at the file. "It says here that vomit was found in the vicinity of his abduction." Casey scrunched her face and sarcastically spoke: "Nice."

"Mm. Yes, thank you for reminding me of that disgusting detail, Dreamy D. Yes, that vomit has been collected and is being analyzed as we speak, and I'm very grateful that I have this job and someone has that one that's not me." Garcia told.

"Rodgers is the obvious anomaly of the four, but there's no apparent overlap between any of the victims." Reid told. "Almost like the unsub was selecting his targets at random." Alex added.

"Blake, you and Morgan go talk to the families of the victims. See if there's something that links them that's not on paper. Dave and I will go to the abduction site. Reid, you, Willows and JJ go to Terry Rodgers' cabin. He's the one we know least about. Maybe he made himself obscure for a reason." Hotch had separated the team into the groups.

After the case and successfully finding the unsub, the team had made it back home and just in time for Halloween. Casey had been seated over at her desk and she looked over at her boyfriend and stood up, walking over to his desk. "Hey, doc." She greeted.

Reid looked up at the girl and smiled, "Hey." He greeted back. "Let's say we stop at your place tonight and hang out. We can watch old Halloween movies, eat candy until our stomaches explode."

"Actually, eating too much can cause the stomach to stretch past its normal capacity, leading to feeling overly full. This can lead to pressure and discomfort as the contents of the stomach pass into the small intestine. Technically, it won't explode." Reid told and Casey smiled but she shook her head at the boy. "You are so cute even when you're talking about something gross."

"Uh, excuse me, everybody. I have an announcement to make." Casey looks over as JJ walks in the room. Everyone puts their attention on her. "As I'm sure some of you were aware, Henry was a little nervous about going trick-or-treating this year. But he's decided to go anyway."

Casey smiled, "That's great!" She said. "What changed his mind?" Rossi asked curiously. "The BAU did." JJ answered. "I told him that he should go out on Halloween and try to figure out which monsters are real and which ones are not."

"So he wants to be a profiler." Morgan thinks and JJ holds a single finger up. "Ah," she starts. "He wants to be his favorite profiler."

Suddenly, Henry walks in, hand-in-hand with Garcia and dressed up as the famous Dr. Spencer Reid — aka his godfather. Casey smiles widely as the boy walks in and she gets a look at his costume. But nobody is more happy than the man he dressed up as — her boyfriend, Spencer Reid.

"Wow! Yeah!" Reid cheers and kneels to Henry's level. "Oh, wow! You look great, Henry." He reaches down for his badge and hooks it onto Henry's mini satchel bag to complete the look. "Put this on here."
"Oh, he's official." Morgan tells. Casey smiles at the sight of Reid and Henry.

Garcia kneels down to Henry and whispers: "Tell him." Henry looks over to Reid and cheers: "E equals MC squared!" Casey smiles even wider at the cuteness as Reid gives Henry a high-five. Morgan and Rossi cheer as well.

Garcia kneels down again and whispers in Henry's ear again: "The other thing. Just like we practiced." She tells. Henry rushes over to his godmother and Casey kneels down next.

"Auntie Casey, will you be my girlfriend?" This had everyone's hearts warmed. "Aww!"

Casey smiles, "Of course! Sorry, Spence, you got a bit of competition." Casey looks over at her boyfriend. "Oh, with him, I have no chance." Spencer tells, getting everyone to laugh.

"The monsters don't stand a chance." Alex says, looking at the scene. "Oh, I know. Shall we go get you some candy? Come on." JJ tells.

"Yeah, come on!" Casey picks up the boy and JJ and Garcia follow behind as Casey strolls down the office. "Whoo-hoo!"

Reid watches as his girlfriend takes Henry and turns the corner. "Watch your back, pretty boy." Morgan comments jokingly and he and Rossi follow behind. Reid smiles to himself as he gathers his stuff and goes to follow behind, too.
