JJ sat in his XBox theme room mastering his skills on a new racing game his dad had just got him.

Lately he's been feeling a little uncomfortable and on the edge so he decided to spend his Saturday doing things that he likes.

That consisted of playing the game, playing with his little sister, and also cuddling with his mommy.

He was the true definition of a mama's boy but was hard body like his dad. The only time he was really soft was when he was with his mom or sister.

He understood at a young age that he was a boy who would eventually grown into a man so his dad treated him as such.

Some may say that his dad expected to much of him for him to only be 5 years old. What they didn't realize was that his dad traveled a lot and always told him; "your mom and your sister are your priorities, always make sure they are straight before anything else. They are the queen and princess, you my son are the prince."

It never bothered him to protect them because at the end of the day he always had the opportunity to be a child.

He could play his games when he wanted, go outside when he wanted, he could basically do whatever he pleased without a care in the world.

His parents raised him to be a independent young man, especially when Jewel came along.

He adored his baby sister from the first day he saw her, from her chunky cheeks, her deep dimples, and her curly hair. Let him tell it, she was the most precious thing and he would do anything to protect her.

He had so much confidence that even the kids at school would look up to him. He was never taught to be looked down upon and to always be a leader, not a follower.

Jewel was also in her play room, playing with her kitchen set.

After a while she started to get bored so she ran into JJ's game room full speed; "JJ can you come pway with me pwease" she asked, giving him her signature puppy eyes.

He paused his game and looked at her; "give me just a minute ok Jewels?"

"Otay JJ" she replied as she sat in the chair next to him and watched him.

"You're gonna just sit here and watch me?" He asked.

"Mhm, I waiting on you to come pway" she shrugged.

He chuckled and resumed his game. About 15 minutes later he was done, he turned his game off and placed the controller on the swinging couch behind him. He looked down at Jewel who was knocked out sleep.

He shook his head and grabbed a blanket and placed it over her because she was to heavy for him to carry. He left out of his game room and headed downstairs to get a snack.

Once he made it into the kitchen he noticed his mom and aunts sitting at the bar talking. "Hey mommy, hey teetee"

"Hey baby" they all said in unison.

"What's wrong mommy's man" Mani asked as she watched her son intently. He was so handsome and growing so fast that it warmed her heart.

"Nothing mama, I just wanted a snack" he shrugged.

"Go ahead" she nodded.

"Thank you"

"You're welcome" she smiled.

He opened the pantry door and surveyed his options, his mom had already placed snacks in pouches for him & Jewel. So whenever they wanted some they could just come get them.

He grabbed the Blue bag of Doritos, gushers, and a soda and headed back upstairs.

As he made his way up the stairs he could hear distinct talking. It sounded like Sophie; he really didn't like her and would always get this weird vibe from her so he decided to eavesdrop to see what she was up to.

He went into his game room, put his snacks down and headed back in the direction of her room. As he approached the door her voice seemed to get louder.

"What you mean you backing out?" he heard her ask.

He figured she was on the phone because he couldn't hear a response and plus no one else had access to their property. "So we just gonna let them get away with killing our sisters" she asked in a frustrated tone.

"I don't care how strong they are, or how many people they have. I want my revenge, besides they don't even know who I really am"

JJ interest peeked when she said that; Who was she? He thought to himself.

He made sure to be around the corner hiding behind the wall so she couldn't see him in the event she came out of the room.

He was aware of the things his dad did, not in full detail but he knew his dad was someone important and didn't mess with snakes.

He continued to listen; "Alright, Whatever I'll handle this myself." He furrowed his eyebrows.

"I'm not gonna get myself killed Jaron, chill out"

Jaron? How does she know Jaron? He thought.

"Whatever, the entire house will be burned down by the end of next week"

"I don't care if I have no way out of the middle of the ocean, I'll die with their asses"

JJ had heard enough. He rushed into his game room and woke Jewel up. "Come on Jewels I want you to come lay in the room with your Zay" he said as he shook her.

She mugged him and rubbed her eyes; "move JJ, I not wanna go"

He huffed, she was being so difficult; "come on Jewel!" he raised his voice a little.

She groaned and stood to her feet. He grabbed her hand and walked her to the opposite side of the hall and into Rel's room, helping her sit in the chair. She instantly balled up and closed her eyes, drifting back off to sleep.

His uncle Luckie showed him where the key was, so he went into the drawer and grabbed it and exited the room. Locking the door he ran down the stairs. His mom and aunties were no longer in the kitchen so he figured they were in the basement.

Jetting towards the basement door, he opened it and sat down as he slid down the stairs so that he could get down there faster.

"Boy don't be sliding down my stairs like that!" Mani said as she rounded the corner after hearing the loud thumping.

"But mama-"

"But mama nothing, you know better" she cut him off.

He nodded his head; "I'm sorry mama but I gotta tell you something important"

"This house better be on fire while you acting like you done loss your mind"

He shook his head; "no ma'am but it's gonna be! I heard Sophie say she's gonna burn the house down by the end of next week"

Everyone shot their eyes to him. "She said what" the women asked in unison, being sure that they heard him correctly.

He repeated his self slower. Yep they heard right!

All the women looked at each other and gave one another a knowing glance. "Okay handsome, mommy and daddy will handle it" she smiled.

He was confused because why was she smiling? "Mama why you smiling, I just said she gonna burn the house down" he furrowed his eyebrows at her.

Kiari, Toya, and Juri all laughed because to them, in this very moment he looked just like his dad. He mugged them.

"Mama I'm finna call my dad" he said starting to walk away. He was getting angry that his mom and aunts clearly thought he was joking.

"No my man" she said as she grabbed his arm softly. "I'm not smiling at what you said, I'm smiling because everyday you amaze me. You're just like your father. Imma get him for making you feel like you're the man of the house when he's gone."

"I am mama" he replied looking into her eyes.

"I know papa. Mommy will handle this though ok? You don't worry."

He nodded in understanding and headed back up the stairs to go check on his sister and cousin. Once he made it up he noticed that Sophie was standing at the door trying to get in.

"What you doing Nanny Sophie?" He asked in the sweetest voice he could muster.

She jumped; "Jesus JJ, you scared me, why you sneaking around the hallway?" She asked as she placed her hand on her chest. She was clearly trying to change the subject.

"I wasn't sneaking, I just came upstairs" he shrugged.

"Oh okay, I didn't even hear you" she said as she walked in his direction heading down the stairs.

He eyed her until she made her way all the way down. When he was certain that she made it he ran to grab his snacks and headed back towards the room.

He unlocked the door, when he got inside he closed the door behind him. Both Jewel and Rel were still sleeping peacefully.

He sat on the floor with his snacks in front of him, turned the tv on and started to watch a movie. In the back of his mind all he could wonder was;

What was she doing at the door and what was she looking for.

He glanced back at their sleeping bodies and stated; "I'll always be here to protect you"

Listen this week has been so stressful that I damn near pulled all my hair out 🙄
