A week later ......

Jurianna

Today was the day I was being induced so Tango and I were heading to Emory Crawford Long downtown. I grabbed his hand that was resting on the middle console and squeezed it; "I can feel your nervous energy, I'm nervous too but we got this"

He took his eyes off the road for a few seconds and glanced at me. He smiled; "I know baby, I love you"

"I love you more" I smiled.

We pulled up to the hospital about 20 minutes later and pulled into the parking garage. Tayshaun got out of the car, opened the back door, grabbed the bags, and then opened the door for me. After entering into the hospital we headed towards the Labor and Delivery wing and checked in.

Dr. Shaw was waiting for us after we checked in and took me to my room. I changed into the hospital gown and got into the bed. Tayshaun was seated on the couch next to me making calls to the family, letting them know that I was about to be induced.

He let them know that they didn't have to come this early that he would call once I was dilated the right amount of centimeters. Dr. Shaw entered back into the room;

"Good Afternoon Ms Smith, how are you?"

"Good Afternoon, I'm good, kind of nervous but ready to see my babies."

She smiled; "We are definitely going to see them within the next few hours depending on how your body responds. I am going to insert synthetic prostaglandins, which are placed inside the vagina. This is used are to soften your cervix. After the prostaglandin is inserted your contractions and your baby's heart rate will be monitored. I will insert a catheter with an inflatable balloon on the end into your cervix. Before inserting the catheter I will fill the balloon with saline and rest it against the inside of your cervix."

I nodded my understanding and laid back, a nurse and Tango assisted with lifting my legs for her. She inserted the catheter and my legs were lowered. She hooked me up to a monitor placing an IV into my arm for fluids and little patches unto my stomach to monitor the babies heart beat.

I was told that I could still walk around so Tango and I took a walk around the hospital.

Tayshaun and Jurianna we both sleeping in the hospital bed. The inducing process had started to pick up causing her contractions to become about five minutes apart. She was now unable to sleep peacefully so she woke Tango up.

"Baby can you massage my back?" She whined while shaking him awake.

"Yes baby" he woke up and started to rub her back as she sat at the edge of the hospital bed. Tango eventually called Dr. Shaw in to check her cervix.

When she entered the room she washed her hands and checked her cervix; "Okay Ms. Jurianna you are about 3 centimeters dilated, you need to be at least 7 or 8 to start pushing. I will be back in about a hour and a half to check you again."

"Okay, thank you Dr. Shaw" she smiled. Juri laid back in bed and grabbed her phone to text Kiari.

30 minutes later the family was walking into her hospital room. "How all y'all get in here?" Juri laughed.

"Now you know we ain't going for none of what they talking about" Jase said.

"Right, they talking about tWo PeOpLe At A tImE! Yea right" Luckie replied as he walked over and dapped Tango up.

"A hot mess" Juri giggled. Just then she experienced a painful contraction. She squeezed her eyes tight as it passed.

Everyone just sat back and watched as Tango cared for her every need during this time. Kiari smiled, her heart filled with joy and warmth seeing how caring he was for her younger cousin.

Before long Juri had fallen asleep so everyone except for Tayshaun went into the waiting room. She kept drifting in and out of her sleep due to the contractions.

It wasn't long before the contractions became about a minute apart so once again Tango called the doctor in.

She entered and washed her hands as he woke Juri. "Ms. Smith I am going to check you, if it's applicable would you like an epidural?"

"Yes ma'am" Juri replied.

"Okay" Dr. Shaw checked her to find that she was now 6 centimeters dilated. "I'm seeing that you are 6 centimeters meaning we can now administer the epidural. I will return momentarily with the anesthesiologists."

Within minutes she returned with the anesthesiologist; "Hello, my name is Dr. Jackson, I will be administering you epidural."

"Thank you" Juri replied.

"I'm going to hand you a pillow to hold on to" she handed her the pillow.

"Thank you"

"Now I'm going to need you to be as still as possible as I insert the needle, I will then insert a catheter. It will take about 30 seconds tops"

Jurianna nodded and took a deep breath; "I'm ready"

She inserted the needle, then the catheter, and asked her to lie down immediately. She explained that it will take about 15/20 minutes before it will take affect.

"Thank you" Jurianna said to the doctor.

"It's my pleasure."

Dr. Shaw spoke; "I will be back in about an hour to check you to see if we can start the pushing process. Who would you like in the room during delivery?"

"Tayshaun and my cousin Kiari"

"Okay, I will go grab your cousin" Dr. Shaw exited the room.

"This is the longest process ever" Tango groaned.

"I know right! I just wanna see their little faces already" Juri smiled.

"Same" Tango kisses her forehead and played in her hair as he sat next to her bed. "Amir and Amira" he said aloud.

"Beautiful names right?" Juri asked.

"Yes, I love them. I'm exited to see who they will look like the most"

"Me of course" Juri giggled.

"Yea right!" he laughed.

Kiari softly knocked on the door and entered the room. "You ready to be a mommy" she smiled as she walked over to her cousin.

"Yes, I'm finally ready" she replied.

Tayshaun a.k.a Tango

About an hour went by before Dr. Shaw came in to check on Jurianna. She checked her cervix to find out that she was now 8 centimeters.

"Okay, we can start pushing now" Dr. Shaw replied as she washed her hands again and called for two nurses to assist her.

Jurianna took deep breaths and eyed me, "I love you"

"I love you too baby" I kissed her forehead.

"On the next contraction I'm gonna ask you to push. You won't feel the contraction but I will inform you on when to push"

Jurianna nodded. Tango grabbed one leg as a nurse grabbed the other. Kiari stood next to her holding her hand. Moments passed before the next contraction hit.

"Okay I need you to breath and push for 10 seconds" Dr Shaw spoke; "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10" She counted as Juri pushed.

She breathed deeply; "you're doing good Ms Smith, here comes the next one...... PUSH!"

"Aaaahhhhhh" Juri grunted as she pushed for 10 seconds.

"I see a head, come on baby, you're doing good" I stated as I watched feverishly.

"Here comes another one!" The doctor spoke. "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10"

She pushed and felt a little pressure before she heard one of our babies loud cries. "Good job! We have a baby girl" Shaw spoke as she handed the baby off to the awaiting nurse.

"She's beautiful" I whispered to Juri.

Jurianna's eyes opened and closed as she became overwhelmingly tired. "Her blood pressure is spiking!" One nurse stated to the doctor. My heart rate began to speed up.

"We need to initiate an emergency C-Section, her blood pressure is to high!" Shaw stated

Everything happened so fast, Kiari was escorted out of the room and we were moved to a new room where they started the process of the C-Section.

I don't remember much from what happened because I was so focused on Juri but within 10 minutes I heard the cries of my son. Dr. Shaw pulled him out and the nurse started to clean him off.

I looked at Jurianna who was sleep due to medication. Her heart rate was steady, I kissed her forehead and whispered into her ear; "you did great baby, they are perfect just like we wished."

Jurianna

My eyes opened as I immediately jumped up searching the room. The monitor began to beep uncontrollably due to my heart rate increasing. Tango jumped up from the couch and ran towards me. "Baby calm down" he spoke.

The sound of his voice instantly calmed me; "The babies? Where are they?"

"They are right here and they are perfect, just like we wished."

He walked over and rolled a bassinet over to me. I leaned over to look at my babies and immediately I fell in love. Tears spilled out of my eyes.

"Oh my God, they are perfect" I spoke breathlessly. "Thank you Tayshaun"

"No thank you Jurianna" he replied and kissed my lips.

He picked Amira up first and handed her to me. I admired her, he then handed me Amir and I to admired him.

I thanked God for giving me the chance to be a mother. I slid over as much as I could and motioned for Tango to get into the bed with us. He lowered the rail and wrapped one arm behind me as I laid my head on his shoulder as we both watched our babies sleep peacefully.
