Bon Voyage, Melody
Chapter Seven:
Melody and I walked home after I got her from her school.
"How was school, Mel?"
"Okay, I guess. People made fun of me because I couldn't do everything they could all because of that stupid broken arm." She replied. I pulled her into a hug and she softly cried.
"It's gonna be okay, Mel."
"No! It's not! I am not the same as other kids! I can't do everything they can!"
*. .*. .*
Once we woke up in the morning, I made breakfast for Dad and Melody. Melody pranced out of the house with a blueberry pancake in her mouth at exactly 7:46am. She scrambled onto her bike and rode to school. I walked my way to school. In precisely 4 hours and 32 minutes, Dad came to pick me up early. For what reason, I didn't know. I was yet to find out what happened. Dad walked me out of the school building, crying.
"What is it, Dad?" I asked.
"It's Mel. My sweet song was in the hospital. They- They s-said that she didn't ma-make it."He cried. I sobbed.
"Melody is... gone? No! She is as tough as a rock. She she can't be. How could this happen?" There you have it. Gone. Dead as a door nail.
"She was hit by a car on her way to school. They took her to the hospital when they found her 4 hours later. She passed on the way to the hospital."
I choked up, frozen standing there like a statue. Melody was gone.
