Arrows

Basically I think that this pov isn't done enough, so wrote this! Also, it's on Aru's 13th birthday and it was my 13th birthday so... Yeah. I haven't read SoD for a while but you get the rough idea. Hope you like!

Aiden pov---

It was almost time. Aiden's dad was going to arrive any second and then Aiden  would make his Mom happy again. It was all going to work out. The arrow was waiting and he would use it.

He paced the front yard. As soon as his dad pulled up in his fancy car and walked in wearing his fancy shoes, he would just make his parents fall in love again.

Kamadeva's words came back to him. An arrow of awakening, not necessarily love. Doubt flooded Aiden's thoughts. What if it didn't work? What if he just couldn't love her?  He pushed all questions out of his mind. It would work. It had to work.

Aru grinned and waved at him from the front step of her house. She was wearing a Gandalf beard that reached her waste, and the neighborhood dog walker was giving her an odd look, but she didn't seem to notice.

"Hey! Do you want to come over? The party isn't over for a while!" She called. Guilt knotted in Aiden's stomach. He had completely forgotten about Aru's birthday party when he heard his dad was coming over.

For a second he was tempted to... But he stopped himself. He would not let himself be a coward.

"No thanks," He replied, "He's coming over today." Aru's smile thinned into a line and she scowled. None of the girls - Aru included - thought the love arrow was a good idea. But it was something he needed to do.

Aiden heard a car engine revving somewhere down the road. It sounded like his dad's. Aru made to go back inside.

"Wait!" Aiden called to her back. "Could you stay? As emotional support?" Aru stopped still frowning.

"Please?" He begged. Aru turned to face him again.

"Fine," she replied, not looking him in the eye. Her neck looked a little red, but that was probably just the sunlight.

A fancy looking car appeared. Of course his dad was early for once! After a quick glance back to her house, Aru ran over to his house and they went into the main room. He had just locked the front door when he saw his Dad get out the car.

He grabbed the arrow and hid behind the sofa with Aru.

"Wadda we do now?" Aru whispered, as the doorbell rung.

"We wait," Aiden replied. His Mom answered the door. His dad stepped into view. He raised the arrow...

Aru swiped the bow downwards, stopping his shot.

"What Aru doing?" (I'm sorry it was too good of an opportunity to pass off) Aiden whisper-shouted. His dad was swaying in and out of shot.

"Making you think." Aru hissed back, "why do you want to do this?"

He tried to pry her fingers off the bow.
"I have to make Mom happy again, Aru."

Aru paused, as if thinking. "What if you shoot her?"

"What?"

"Make her fall in love with herself again. So she makes herself happy."

Aiden thought for a second, and threw the arrow at Malini once his dad had left. His Mom stood straiter and smiled to herself.

"It worked," Aiden breathed.

"Of course it did! My ideas always work!" Aru insisted.

Aiden shot her a look.

"Ok, maybe not always."

She got up to go.

"Bye, Aiden."

"Bye, Shah"

Aru sent him a smirk before vanishing through the door.

It was good to have a friend like Aru.

The only problem, was Aiden didn't know why "friend" didn't seem to feel right.
