Hi everyone. I'm writing this to share my thoughts about JYP Park Jimin's latest music video 'Try'. The reason is that its reaction videos I have watched don't truly feel her song. If you watch this kind of reaction videos, you will soon know that the video makers do reaction for almost music videos requested by their viewers. Then thinking about yourselves and the current entertainment industry. Who can like all of its entertainers? No one can for sure. We can adore some, not all of them. Therefore, it is understandable that the reaction of video makers you beg to watch your idols' video is not what you would expect. Maybe they don't see eye to eye with you. That is the exact thing happening with Jimin's 'Try', I guess.

If you are her fans, you certainly know how talented and funny she is. I was very happy to hear that she would come back in this August, but admittedly, I felt a little down after watching the official video of 'Try' because it didn't reach my high expectation after having waiting for her comeback a long time. I have watched her performances many times, so I know how amazing she is as a singer. Compared to her old performances, it didn't impress me much. It wasn't as ear-biting and eye-catching as other hot songs released recently, either. You can see that through the total number of viewers and reaction videos to her song and others'. Most reactors just gave general comments like the song had a meaningful message and Jimin had a great voice. Only those truly love her had beautiful reaction.

I appreciate all of their efforts to make those reaction videos but I don't think they appreciate 'Try' enough for two reasons. First, some of them don't know her well as I mentioned above. Second, this kind of reaction video doesn't give reactors enough time to think deeply about the video they react. Meanwhile, it takes time to realise 'Try' is not simply a song to comfort and encourage people to overcome their hard times.

As you can see, the video is really simple. The song is also simple without extremely high and explosive notes with which Jimin often surprises us. Hence, it doesn't make instantly huge impression on viewers.

Now, I would like to share with you great things I have gradually realised that Jimin actually did with 'Try' in particular and her album in general.

First, she took part in composing songs in her album, which makes her become a singer-songwriter, not just a performer as before. Obviously, she is an incredible singer, singing her own songs makes her a true artist for me. Who can know a song as well as its own writer? There are numerous good performers but few pure artists. I believe that artists are the ones lasting in people's minds, not performers. Jimin is definitely having a huge step advancing in her career.

Second, the video and the song 'Try' fit her album well. Her album's title is 19 to 20, so it is like a diary piece of her lifetime. Some people might right that there are plenty of music videos about people's difficulties which are even harsher than those in 'Try'. However, those in her video are ones many people often face in real life, not exaggerated or dramatised. At the age of 19-20, people normally get stressed from studies, dreams and love, and easily get hurt. Jimin said that she wanted her song relating to many people. Therefore, I think 'Try' expresses successfully the concept of the album.

Above all are my personal thoughts. I'm glad if you share the same ones with me, but it's completely fine if you have different views. I just want to say Jimin is a true artist for me and I'm really looking forward to her future!
