|A line
|What is a line?
\Is it the border between appropriate
\and inappropriate,the private and
\embarassing?
|Maybe it's the feeling of infinity, the |neverending characteristic of being |straight.
|Why am I picturing a straight line
|when there simply cannot exist a
|thing like straight and even?
|It is not natural, therefore non
|existent. Are straight lines like time? |Relative? And even if it would exist
|what would be the messure for |"straight"?
|The edge of the paper? But who can |gurantee the straightness of the
|knife that divided it?
Who or what decides what is straight?
Could it be the ruler, that defines the exactness of our marks? But what if it was bend and just titled as straight, to give us peace of mind? Is this what defines "straight"? Or is it the boy who kisses the girl? Is that straight? Does that fact make them a line? Does this mean they are in line?
Does that make me racist? Can I even be racist, if I think of a standard line as straight, when I cannot consider myself that standard?
What if a line is really just the mark made with a pointy tool? Does that mean that lines made with flat tools aren't lines? Why aren't fat lines lines? Does it make them less of a line because they appear to be bigger and created by a different tool, have a different origin?
■ This square is a line too. It might be fat and short but that does not make it less of a line, now does it?
■■■■■
Because once you zoom out and look at it from farther away it turns into something else, something you are familiar with.
▪▪▪▪▪
Just changing the distance and viewpoint of something and all of the sudden it turns out to fit into the standards. It is in line.
--
All of this still does not answer what was asked.
What is a line? What makes a line a line? Is it the relationship it is in? The proportion to it's surroundings? Maybe it's defined by it's origin and where it came from? Is it whatever it was defined as and whatever boundaries were build around it?
Who decides what makes a line, less of a line?
Who can judge what is in line?
~
Don't worry, I am not trying to start a revolutionary movement for lines. At least not today.
Let me hear your opinion to "lines" and standing in line.
