Eleven
Morning came faster than Jaydess expected. With a mind full of questions but also excitement she wasn't able to contain, she found herself pacing up and down the kitchen until finally resulting in making breakfast.
Lisa woke first and joined the girl in the kitchen soon after.
"Smells good," she grinned to herself before whiffing the air again with her eyes closed. "Pancakes?"
Jaydess nodded.
"I used to make them often when I was in New Zealand. My previous master loved pancakes and would always request for them. I guess I can I'm an expert at pancake making now."
"I'll be the judge of that," Changbin's raspy morning voice echoed around the kitchen as he walked towards the finished batch and took a bite of the one on top.
"So how is it?" His girlfriend asked.
"Could do with a little more sugar...and it's a bit dry, maybe add more milk. Also, tastes a bit burnt, work on that," he uttered causing Lisa to roar with laughter as Jade dropped her spatula in surprise.
"But...I did everything the same...I used the same amount of each ingredient and kept it in the pan for the same amount of time! I shouldn't be dry or burnt. Makes no sense," Jaydess said in confusion, as she looked down at her batch of finished pancakes and yet-to-be-finished pancakes.
"Chill," Changbin laughed. "I was only kidding. It's perfect. Can't believe I'm saying this but you really are an expert at pancake making."
"Did you guys still pancakes?" Hyunjin asked as he stumbled into the kitchen.
"Sorry, Hyunjin, they have all been booked. Don't worry though, there's plenty of cereal in the cupboards," Changbin teased, taking another bite of the pancake he was eating. "But they are so good. Too bad you can't have some."
The other boy rolled his eyes before heading to the batch and taking one for himself.
"Need any help?" He asked the girl.
"Nah, I'm almost done anyway," Jade told him with a smile, this time around genuine.
"Good to see you're in a good mood today," he smiled back.
Only his wasn't genuine.
And she knew that.
"Yeah, but are you?" She asked, a little concerned.
"Of course! Never been better."
Jade knew he had quoted her from the previous day and that only made her suspicion grow.
She simply sighed as she placed the final pancake on the ready batch then placed everything on the table, as well as something for Miss Charlotte when she came down.
"Smells amazing, guys," she smiled before taking a seat beside Jaydess. "Did you enjoy everything last night?"
"Definitely," they replied in unison, causing the android's smile to grow.
"That's nice. Maybe we can do this again some other time."
"Looking forward to it," Changbin said as he waited for Lisa to finish eating. Once she did, they both said their goodbyes and returned to their masters.
Hyunjin waited a little longer before doing the same and finally Miss Charlotte and Jaydess were on their own again.
The android gathered all the dirty plates and placed them in the dishwasher then began to clean up the house.
Jade watch her for a while, questions running through her mind before she picked up a broom and helped her sweep up the ground.
Silence engulfed the two of them until the teenager couldn't help herself anymore.
"What do you know about Project REI?" Jade asked making Miss Charlotte freeze.
The android didn't even look up from the table she was cleaning and her signature smile was wiped off her face.
The girl gulped as she watched her reaction, knowing she probably shouldn't have mentioned it.
"How do you know about that?" Miss Charlotte suddenly uttered, her voice low and full of mystery.
Jade found herself subconsciously inching forward.
"It's just something I remember," she lied. She wasn't going to tell the android about I.N. "So, what was it."
Finally, Miss Charlotte glanced up at Jaydess.
She furrowed her eyebrows and squinted her eyes slightly.
"Why are you here? Why are you in my house?"
"I was sent here. You...you're my master."
"No," She shook her head. "That's not why you're here. You need to leave. Now."
As if shot by a bullet, Jade felt her heart sink and tears well you in her eyes.
Miss Charlotte, the only master Jade secretly liked was trying to get rid of her. All because she couldn't keep her mouth shut.
The android picked up her phone and dialled a number before rushing up to her room.
Jade followed and pressed her ear to the door to hear everything. She wished she didn't.
"Megan," Miss Charlotte's shaky voice was all she heard. "You need to take her back. She knows too much."
