So for hands. I'm really bad at them too. I know alot of people have struggle with hands. I did as well. Just look in my art book and look at the old vs new ones. But if you just avoid those things you will never get better.

So to start, I draw the base of the hand.(this ones bad but I don't really care.)

Draw a rounded box. You can draw the top line or the bottom line. Which ever ones easier.

Then you draw the base of the thumb. I use an oval shape.

Draw the thumb. The thumb should be over the box. 

Draw a shape that looks like fingers but lumped together. Remember, the tallest one is the middle finger.

Now cut the lump into 4pieces. If you want your hands, fingers to only be 3 or something, just cut it into 3.

Now draw a rough sketch how the fingers should look like.

Now erase the guide lines!

Fiddle with it until you get something you like and yeah. This was bad so I drew another one.

I didn't erase the guide lines so you get the idea! Now shading... draw folds in the clothing. They could be a little or more. I'm NOT a professional so it will look bad, or just don't have much shading.

It's different from perspective and lighting but, if the light is from the top then color the folds going inward and of course color the shadows from the head and stuff! And erase the parts you think you don't need or it just looks weird.

Thicken the shading so it looks like it's actually coming from the top or from the folds.

Well that's it! That's how I make shadows and draw hands... hope this helps a bit!
