- They were always chasing after their father, Stonetooth, who was deputy at the time. Sagekit preferred to stay with their mother.
- Sagekit met Crowkit when she decided to follow Stonetooth with her brothers. He ran into her chasing a mossball.

- Sagepaw and Crowpaw became close friends, while Flurrypaw and Gorsepaw were focused on training.
- Crowpaw was wounded when a patrol he was on got attacked by a badger defending its cub. He slept for a day before waking up incredibly weak.
- Sagepaw helped him recover by helping the medicine cat collect herbs, fetching prey and fresh bedding, and visiting him every day.
- Palebreeze became pregnant again.
- Unfortunately, since she was so caught up in helping her friend get better, Flurrypaw and Gorsepaw were made warriors - Flurrystep and Gorsestripe - a moon before her.
