So... a quick review of using Sketchpad (hp) for drawing
Okie dokie m8s. So I decided to do some drawing on my laptop bc I haven't since, like, January, and since I can't afford any super fancy drawing programs, I opened MS paint (yes my pride takes a big hit whenever I use it but I ignore it). Then, I kinda started doodling, and a little pop-up in the corner of my screen was all "ayyo we recommend u use this Sketchpad thing that comes with ur computer" and I was all "OH YES MAMA" cause I'm DESPERATE for something other than MS paint. So, I opened it, and decided to take notes of all the pros and cons bc I am a truly odd human being.
PROS:
~PEN PRESSURE. Oh my God, I've never used an online drawing app that has pen pressure before and oh sweet Jose it was glorious
~DIFFERENT BRUSHES (that aren't total crap). So, the brushes are actually, like, decent? And work?
~COLORS. There was a pretty decent volume of colors to choose from, but it depended on what brush you were using (for example, the pen and pencil brushes had more than four times more colors than the gay pride flag, but the highlighter brush had 5 total colors)
CONS:
~NO FILL BUCKET. Deborah, I searched up and down, side to side, and I never found a fill bucket. I mean, you can use the highlighter to color over lineart without damaging it, but as I said before, the highlighter only has five colors. Not to mention the highlighter is a little unwieldy and messy, which brings me to my next point...
~WEIRDASS ERASER TOOL. So, apparently you can't erase little bits at a time? The way the eraser works, is you click on a line, and the whole hecking thing disappears. There's no little smudges or wipes or drags or anything, just TOTAL ANNIHILATION.
~NO WAY TO MINIMIZE. So, apparently, there's no way to minimize the app, and in order to go onto another thing (chrome, firefox, internet explorer, etc), ya gotta close the whole hecking app. TBH I was too scared of losing my work to close it that I forced myself to listen to the horrible country music that youtube started playing in the background just to finish the drawing. #artistproblems, amiright?
~NO ZOOM. I swear, this just about drove me to the brink of insanity. Need to get rid of a little mistake somewhere in the eyeball? Just click at it like a madman with your god-forsaken eraser tool for ages until you finally give up and hope nobody sees it. Life Hack.
Anyways, there's probably a billion points I missed, but that's the bare bone basics.
FINAL STATEMENT: Better than MS paint, but also worse than MS paint. Like, if I could somehow take the good things from each of them and mash them together, I'd be happy. But srsly dude, if you're looking for something longterm, just get something like Firealpaca. I heard that shit's like poorman's Paint Tool Sai.
Ps, here's my attempt at a drawing in this god-forgotten program:
oh, and another con:
THE IMAGE QUALITY FREAKING SUCKS I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S JUST ME BUT IT'S BLURRY AF AND I KNOW YOU GUYS CAN'T SEE, BUT I WENT INTO IMAGE SETTINGS AND TURNED THE IMAGE CLARITY UP TO 100 BUT YOU CAN'T TELL. AT. ALL. I WANT TO SCREAM BUT IT'S 11:21 PM ON A MONDAY NIGHT. ANYWAYS BUH-BYE GUYS/GALS/OTHER
