Dragontamer: Hello all! With Kingdom Hearts 3 on the way and the fact I've been trying to come up with something of a challenge of my own for a while, I figured "why not do something like this?" What am I talking about you ask? Good question. The best name I could come up with for this was the "Out of body" character redesign challenge!

Dragontamer: So what is this challenge about? Well basically, should you choose to accept this challenge, you have to draw one or two characters(anyone from a game, movie, cartoon, or even an OC you have) as what you think they might look like as one of five Square-Enix creatures. Why is this called the "Out of body" character redesign challenge? Because the five creatures you can choose from relate to a part of the body. In a spiritual sense I mean.

Heartless
Nobodies
Unversed
Dream Eaters
Noise

Dragontamer: For those who don't know anything about Square-Enix or Kingdom Hearts in general, you're probably asking me "the heck are any of these things?" Well, we'll get to that. Let me explain the rest of this challenge for ya'll.

1. Pick a character to redesign. Anyone from a game, movie, cartoon, book, or even an OC you have.

2. Choose which of the five creatures you want to redesign your character into.

3. Look closely and throughly at the design of your chosen creature and think about how your character can be made into that creature.

4. Draw up your redesign. Take your time, no rush. It can take multiple pictures before you're satisfied with a redesign.

5. Post the final drawing in your artbook. If you don't have an artbook, you can post the picture in another book you have. Be sure to mention me and name your chapter for the drawing so I will know when you drew your picture.

6. Repeat if you want! You can do this as many times as you want with any character and any of the five creatures listed above. The combinations are endless!

Dragontamer: This challenge is open to anyone and will indefinitely. This challenge, I feel, can help improve your drawing skills and broaden your horizons and imagination. Plus, I think it'll be fun! Now, you're probably wondering "when will I get to explaining these creature things which none of you know about?" Well, (clears throat) I can't really explain these Heartless and Nobodies and such without confusing myself in their logic😖. However, I have an expert in the matter to explain for us!

Dragontamer: A Square-Enix character himself, he's much more then he seems. Prissy, sly, and far more intelligent and knowledgeable then the average person, this kid will have you wishing the day be over with already within five minutes of talking to him. Let me show you- Um, Josh? What are you doing?
Joshua: 🎶Forever on and on, I continue circling with nothing but my hate on a-🎶 Oh, is it time already? I do hope I wasn't disturbing you Dragontamer. *chuckles lightly*
Dragontamer: 😐 Were you singing that because when I first heard it, it was in a video about you and Neku?😒
Joshua: A nostalgic guess, but no. I figure the song fits these "creatures" really well. Especially the Heartless.
Dragontamer: You say that like the Heartless, Nobodies, Unversed, and the others are more then simple creatures.
Joshua: Oh, but they are! Let me tell you. Come closer and sit down everyone. I've got quite the conversation to tell...

The Heartless

Joshua: Ah, the Heartless. The hearts left behind and devoured by the Darkness. Heartless are all born of Darkness, so simple-minded that they only have the most primal of urges. To feed, to survive, and to reproduce. And in order to do any of that, they must hunt for the one thing that resulted in their creation: hearts. All Heartless have a singular goal in this act: to find the heart of a world. It's too complicated to explain that, so let's move on to the Heartless looks. There are two main kinds of Heartless.

The Pure Blood Heartless
The Emblem Heartless

Joshua: The difference between these two kinds of Heartless is so simple just from a visual standpoint, even my friend Beat can tell you which was which! Assuming he knew the signs of course. *chuckles lightly* Pure Blood Heartless are often completely black or mostly black with dark blue, and often have small, round, pupil-less eyes, and are somewhat bug-like in shape. Emblem Heartless, however, are often colorful, elementally powered, and have the Heartless symbol on them somewhere, hence the name Emblem Heartless. The interesting thing about Emblem Heartless is that not only do Emblem Heartless take up about... oh... 90-95% of the Heartless population, but the Emblem Heartless are basically artificial Heartless. There is such thing as a Heartless that looks human, but those are extremely rare. Only one known "human" Heartless exists, and that's the fake Ansem dear Sora has to put up with. Though he is much more intelligent and powerful then any other Heartless, he isn't out of the question for taking hearts. He can summon a Heartless like being to help him fight, much like how Raven has her Soul-self really. Sometimes Pure Blood Heartless will have a similar body to a human, but with all the bells and whistles of a normal Pure Blood. Lord knows how many times a Heartless that looked like Sora has appeared.

Nobodies

Joshua: Ah, the Nobodies. The shells left behind after someone with a strong heart perishes. Nobodies are almost like "ascended Heartless" if you will. While Heartless are primal, emotionless, and rarely remember themselves before they became Heartless, the Nobodies are more intelligent, human-like, and often remember their lives before becoming Nobodies. A Nobody and a Heartless can be generated at the same time from the same person, so Nobodies aren't exclusive to certain people, other then the fact that they come from someone with a strong heart that is. Many Nobodies look like distorted blank slates with limber bodies and occasional colors like purple, but a number of them can become human-like if the circumstances are right. These human-like Nobodies often look just like their original selves and often have names that are like scrambled up versions of their names, plus the letter X. Take Sora for example. His Nobody's name is Roxas, which is generated when you add X to Sora and scramble the letters a bit.

Unversed

Joshua: The Unversed, the results of the overflowing negative emotions in Vanitas, Ventus's dark half. The Unversed look similar to the Heartless, but are more jittery, energetic, and while the Heartless serve whomever has the most Dark Magic(probably so they can wait for that person to become corrupt and take their heart), the Unversed mindlessly serve Vanitas in anything he wishes.

Dream Eaters

Joshua: Ah, the Dream Eaters! The living embodiments of our dreams and nightmares, fused together in certain ways to create these unique creatures! Yes, I remember my fair share of interacting with the Dream Eaters in Traverse Town. The Pegaslick is my personal favorite...
Dragontamer: Um Joshua, you're getting off topic.
Joshua: Spoilsport. Dream Eaters are colorful, vibrant creatures that live in the Dream Realm. The only other place they naturally occur in are in the "Sleeping Worlds", which are worlds which haven't completely been freed of Darkness. There are two main kinds of Dream Eaters.

The Spirits
The Nightmares

Joshua: The Nightmare Dream Eaters go after Dreamers for their, well, dreams. Fortunately for Dreamers, we have the tamed and loving Spirit Dream Eaters, which consume the Nightmares. The only real visual difference between the Spirit version and Nightmare version of a Dream Eater is that the Nightmares often come in darker, more threatening colors, while the Spirits often come in bright and cheerful colors. All Dream Eaters look like cartoonish animals, real or mythological, and have many elemental properties in their powers and abilities. Some Dream Eaters even spawn looking like certain Dreamers! There is a Dream Eater that looks like my good friend Neku, and not too long ago we discovered a Dream Eater that looked like my good friend Beat. Some Dream Eaters look like different versions of other Dream Eaters, like the Flowbermeow. New Dream Eaters are discovered all the time in the Dream Realm, so the possibilities are truly endless!

The Noise

Joshua: Ah, the Noise. My forte. Straight from the realm between the Realground and the Underground, these little buggers are a matter to handle. The very Soul of a person devoured and/or converted into Noise. Yeah, I know these things personally. We use them all the time in the Reaper's Game where I work in.
Dragontamer: Don't you mean the Reaper's Game you command, oh Composer of Shibuya?
Joshua: *chuckles lightly* My, nothing slips by you now, does it? Yeah, that's right. They're great for taking out those who don't deserve a second chance at life, and I know that sounds cruel but, rules are rules, facts are facts. The Noise all look like animals(living, extinct, or mythical) with parts of their bodies made to look almost tatoo-like. Perfect for sygils. And unlike the others creatures here, there are many kinds of Noise.

Chump Noise
Negative Noise
Pig Noise
Taboo Noise
Boss Noise

Joshua: Chump Noise appear in red sygils and are basically the common kind of Noise. Negative Noise appear in orange sygils and can only affect and feed off of people's negative emotions. Pig Noise appear in green sygils and are the rarest of Noise, being extremely passive to the point they often run away from anyone, and for good reason: they drop very rare, interesting, powerful, and unique pins for Players who erase them! Taboo Noise appear in black sygils and are forbidden to summon in the Reaper's Game, for they chase after both Players and Reapers, and probably living humans should any get the chance. They're extremely dangerous and are quite powerful. My "mortal" enemy, Sho Miamoto(aka the Grim Heaper and Pi-face by Neku), once used a Taboo Noise Refinery Sygil to not only produce Taboo Noise to take out Players for him, he used it to revive himself into a Reaper-Taboo Noise hybrid so he could defeat me and become Composer himself. Yeah, I've got some bad blood with the Taboo Noise. And then there's the rare Boss Noise, which appear from blue sygils and are often reincarnated versions of Reaper's Noise forms. There are so many different types of Noise! There are often three or four variations to a single Noise, like there being three different fox Noise which includes the Taboo version, and frog Noise come in six variations including the Taboo version. That's the most number of variations for a Noise right there!

But she does want you to remember that this "challenge" is meant for those who actually draw stuff like this, ok? The only reason she decided to draw some of these redesigns for you is if you find drawing these things is too hard, you don't consider yourself a good drawer, or because you think Dragontamer does a good job drawing this sort of stuff.
