Chapter 41
Third Pov.
A boy, around the age of 12, nearing 13 stepped towards the gate, the entrance to Konoha, a traffic pass in his hand stating that he wasn’t a ninja but a traveller, born in Suna, and travelled the world with his family. All of it looked so real, so true… but it was all lies, lies all fabricated to get into Konohagakure, the village hidden in the leaves.
The boy approached the gate that was open but there was a booth, with two ninja sitting in it, looking all relaxed but he knew to take them seriously, they wouldn’t put incompetent ninja on an important task of guarding and watching over the gate into Konoha.
“Hello,” the boy spoke up, trying to sound all innocent and well… like a civilian. The ninja’s both looked up at him. Taking in his attire, bag on his back and his body structure. Taking in every detail to determine if he was a threat or not.
The chuunin at guard duty looked at each other, before nodding. The boy bit back a smirk to himself. They brought it.
“Traffic pass?” Izumo asked, the boy handed over the pass. The two chuunin read through it together and handed it back to him after stamping it, saying that he passed through.
All ninja and travellers needed a traffic pass that got the same stamp to get into Konoha and wonder around the village freely, that is way this boy’s traffic pass had to be stated he was a traveller.
“Where are your parents?” Kotetsu questioned the boy as he stuffed the traffic pass into his pocket.
He looked up at Kotetsu, his blue pupil-less eyes smiling. “They sent me on my own. I’ve always wanted to see the Chuunin exams, and they said if I could travel here on my own, I’ll get more freedom,” he lied with ease.
They both nodded, it wasn’t uncommon for a traveller child to make a trip to a village on their own to prove they could do it. “Right, well, in you go. Personally, I think this exams bunch in the third exam are going to the worth the trip,” Izumo grinned and the boy nodded.
The boy headed away from the gate and walked down towards the main street, thinking of his mission that was assigned by his mentor’s boss. He had to keep a looking out for Orochimaru’s motives and needs to watch, evaluate, and see the extent of a certain someone’s abilities.
He stopped walking and looked up at the Hokage faces. ‘Huh… so this is Konoha?’
Emiko’s pov.
“Sooo… have you seen Sasuke?” Rikku asked me, as we both sat on top of the water.
My training time with Tenzo ended yesterday, I learnt the two jutsu he wanted me to learn but I just need to refine them. With my new weights, I already felt a difference. Every day, Rikku and I spar one on one, she usually beats me as she has less weights on her and I’m slower at the moment, but that morning I had found Guy-sensei, he was down about Lee, but when he saw me his eyes lit up and cheered that he was going to help me train… I didn’t even have to ask. Together we went and saw Lee, but he was sleeping… training was hell though. We ran, like normal, but Guy added more laps the normal, saying ‘if we can’t complete these laps, Lee will forever be disappointed in our youthfulness,’ I couldn’t say no to that. Afterwards, he ran through some of the Taijutsu moves of his I already knew… he told me I was getting sloppy with it. I never even noticed that, I guess I need to practice more with my physical training then I thought. He said that every morning he will run with me, teach me some taijutsu moves and then go and help Neji, he told me that the only reason he was doing this for his rival’s student is because I was his student first. It was kinda funny, if you asked me.
“No, I haven’t. I have to see him soon though. I told him that we both have to tell Sakura, Naruto and Kakashi-sensei together that we’re, well together, un,” I murmured, rubbing my face and looking up into the air. “It’s annoying that he darted off before we could.”
She chuckled at me, flicking water up at my face. I playfully glared at her and she grinned. “We will hunt him down and teach him a lesson!” I laughed at her and shook my head.
“Nah, but if we don’t tell before the third exam, the reactions from Naruto and Sakura are going to be worse. It’s bad enough it’s been a week,” I informed her and she nodded her head.
Suddenly, she tensed and then jumped up. “I’ve got to go. Yumi is calling for me,” she tapped her forehead. “She finally woke up yesterday and she wants Rin to stay far away from her,” Yumi is in Konoha hospital. Rikku said that Yumi doesn’t know what to think of Rin anymore. Rikku told me that she’s going to try and get Yumi on side.
“Okay! Keep me informed, alright?” She nodded her and head and then took off running. I sighed and I jumped up onto my feet and walked over to the edge of the dam.
All through my training, I haven’t had time to work on my art. It was sort of depressing. I’ve had explosion withdrawals.
I put my hand into my make shift clay pouch and I pulled out some clay. I held out the clump of it in the palm of my hand. My training has made me think of my E art, more specifically my E4, the art that I accidently did on Haku, where I exploded the nervous system and chakra system in his arm. Destroying it entirely. I have been thinking about it a bit before the exams started, but I was a bit distracted with my E3. But now I can focus my attention on my E4. It would also be a good weapon to have to end Yuuki’s ninja life with for controlling Rin the way she did because she was angry at my brother. I hate girls like her!!
But the problem is… I have nothing to practice it on! I mean, I can’t ask a ninja if I could, they’d hate more for destroying their ninja carriers. I can’t practice it on a human at all! Maybe on an animal but animals and humans are different, that and I don’t want to kill an animal by accident. Training with explosives means injuries or accidental death. One of the first things Deidara told me about our art and it has never left me.
Well, I guess I’ll just have to try my best on a clay animal, try and make one that resembles a chakra system… I’d have to be careful with that though; using an explosive type on an explosive type… it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
But maybe if I made an E0, it would work as for training. With those thoughts, I made my hand mouths turn up and take a bite of the clay on my hand, but not all of it. I picked the rest of the clay off of my hand and I rested it on my knee. When my hand mouth had spat back out my E0, the clay bird unrolled itself on my hand and I made a motion with my hand and it flew into the air, just hovering in the air in front of me.
I looked at the clay on my knee, thinking of what happened that could affect the explosive at I picked it up and got my hand mouth it eat the clay and with my other hand, setting my scope in its place. When I first did this explosive, I did have to move it from one hand mouth to the other… maybe that’s the trick.
I closed my eyes, focusing on the clay travelling through my arm, across to my other arm and down that one and to the hand mouth. I bit my lip and I made the mouth spit out the clay bird. I looked down at it, as it uncurled itself in my hand like my E0.
It does look different in my scopes eye… the chakra in it, it’s sort of lost its strength but there was something else… something way different. Well, I guess the only choice I have is to try it I guess. I memorized the difference in the chakra in the test E4 and I tossed it towards the E0, still hovering in the air.
The E4 got to the E0 and just before it hit the E0, I set it off. “Katsu!” I shouted, and boom! My eyes widened at the sight of how much smoke was in the air from the explosion.
I jumped up from the ground and I watching with bated breath to see the effects of the E4. When the smoke all disappeared… there was the E0, chakra still in it but not the E4. I groaned, pulling my hair.
“Beautiful art, but not the effect I wanted!” I shouted loudly, my eyes closed.
From behind me, I heard a scoff. I spun on my heel at the sound, my eyes snapping up and hand flying into my clay pouch. Hand mouth chewing the clay in the pouch.
I took in the scoffer, brown hair with slight spikes, light blue pupil-less eyes. My mind jumped to it being a Hyuuga but his eyes were the wrong colour, not the Hyuuga’s light violet type of colour. He had normal basic ninja type clothes but it’s sort of… not? I guess, maybe a traveller?
“That was not art,” my eye twitched right away. “Art is there for more than just a moment, it’s there to live for centuries.”
“Art is Fleeting, there one second, gone in the next. Idiot,” I hissed at him. “You’ve got no artistic eye, un!”
This boy in front of me eye’s narrowed. “Really? Fleeting? Art is Eternal, not that stupid explosion that you do.”
My teeth clenched shut, my eyes narrowed right back at him. “An artist lives their art, not have an opinion, traveller.”
The boy chuckled. “You picked up on me being a traveller, did you?” he asked, and I smirked at him. “Perceptive. Just like an artist should be. As artist sh-“
I cut him off and at the same time we both said. “should be able to take in every detail in a second to be able to capture it’s true beauty and truth.”
My eyes widened at that. He knew… not many people my age knew that. I dropped my defensive stance. “You are an artist, or a good actor. But your wrong, art isn’t eternal.”
He smirked at me. “It is, you’re just delusional,” he retorted and I tensed.
“Delusional?! I am not, you… you… eternal artist freak!” I snapped and he laughed at me.
He put his hands up into the art. “Whoa, don’t explode on me. Fleeting artist freak,” he… used my words against me.
I huffed and looked away from him, but kept my guard up, just in case. “I’m just like my art, everything about me is fleeting, accept on how I feel about people… well most of the time. So, I don’t feel sorry for exploding on you. It’s sort of my thing,” I retorted, smirking a little. “Yah?”
He shook his head at me and then looked past me. I knew he was looking at my E0. “That your art? It’s doesn’t look explosive.”
My eyes twitched and I ripped my hand out of my clay pouch, setting free the E1’s. I’ve decided this person won’t attack me. If he was, he would have attacked me when I wasn’t paying attention.
I made them surround me and he tensed. “Katsu!” I shouted and ka-boom! Three E1’s went off at the same time, which would have deafened anyone else in my position, but not me.
The boy in front of me eyes widened, as the minimal smoke around me whipped around in the wind. I smirked at him and he chuckled.
“That is my art, the clay creatures are just my tools to make my art,” I explained to him and he nodded.
“I prefer my tools, but whatever. I’ll respect your art form… there just wrong,” I choked at his words and glared as he smirked. “What we’re you trying to do?” he asked, walking towards me. When he was by my side, I turned and faced the dam, in the way he was. “With that… hovering clay thing.”
I face palmed. “E0. I’m a ninja, and my art is my main weapons. It’s my way of spreading my art all around the world,” I explained and I motioned my hand and the E0 flew towards me, it landed on my hand.
“A ninja?” he asked and I nodded once. “Oh. Are you training for the chuunin exams?”
I smirked to myself. “Yep, I’m versing against Rin Obitmaru. I need to train really hard this month because this girl is out to kill me,” I explained to him.
“I’m here to watch the chuunin exams,” I looked at him and he looked thoughtful. As if deciding something. “The one facing Rin Obitmaru is Emiko… Emiko Kin,” I snorted at that.
“That’s me, un,” I said with a grin on my face.
I saw the boy look down at the E0 on my hand. “So what does this… form of art do?”
I grinned brightly, always happy to talk about my art. “it’s an E0. It really doesn’t do anything artistic. I can manipulate the chakra in it a little, to make it fly or move or transform and track it with my scope,” I tapped the scope with my free hand. “If it’s set on someone anyway, but nothing explosive.”
He nodded his head to me and said. “The one you used before?”
“E1, all loudness, no powerness,” I rhymed with a chuckle. “What I was working on before you turned up and tried to grind my art into the ground with idiotic words. Was an E4, but I hit an artistic block,” He looked at me confused. Before I knew it, I was explaining to him what my art was. I usually speck out loud to my art or even to Naruto to figure out my thoughts better, but he was here and I just couldn’t help but to talk it out. Maybe it’s because he is a fellow artist and knew the annoyance it comes to hit an Artistic block.
We were silent at the end, I scuffed my heel of my ninja sandal into the ground. When suddenly; I felt my arm rise up without me making it do so.
I gasped, and tried to yank it down. Nothing… my head snapped over to the boy beside me. His arm was in the air, fingers twitching. I looked carefully between my arm and his fingers seeing the slight chakra strings.
“What in Jashin name are you doing?! You’re not a traveller at all! Un!” he didn’t answer, but when I felt my whole body move without my consent, I knew I had chakra strings all over me. I tried to fight back, but I was impossible.
“Can’t break out of chakra strings? Maybe you should try your E4 here. If it can destroy the chakra system, then it can destroy chakra strings,” my eyes widened at his words. He smirked at me. With a twitch of his fingers, my hand was moved into my clay pouch. My E0 flew off my hand and just hovered as my hand moved.
I made my hand mouths turn up and they chewed on the clay, I went through the motions and got the clay to my other hand mouth. Two clay creatures sat just behind the opening.
“Finished, fake traveller boy,” I said in a dead tone, being careful and not showing my true emotions. This guy can make me do anything… control my movements, but I thank jashin he can’t make me use my chakra.
I could open my hand without him making me, one of my clay creatures came out of my hand and it flew towards the chakra strings I could see. I glared at the boy as he made me press my hands together. Under my breath I murmured. “Katsu.”
Boom! The explosion was loud and definite. The smoke filled the air and then I tried to pull out of the strings, but I was still stuck. I groaned, and I hung my head.
“I need to think about it, before it will work. All I’d be doing is keeping making the same mistakes over and over, and wasting chakra, time, and explosive clay,” I snapped at him, trying to rip myself out of the chakra strings.
He ignored my efforts and he narrowed his eyes. “How did it work the first time?”
“I was half dead, un,” I deadpanned and he snorted at me.
“More information than that,” I rolled my eyes at him.
“I had one of my nerves in my hand messed with, with a Senbon. Then I threw the art towards the person, it hit them and I released the jutsu,” I explained to him.
The boy looked me over and then his eyes landed on my hands. “Set your clay things on the chakra string, and then instead of that hand sign when you set it off, press the nerve where that needle hit you,” I blinked at his words.
Well, I guess there is no use in not trying at all. I set free my second clay creation that was in the form of a spider and it climbed up my arm and headed down a chakra string.
Then I pressed my fingers to the nerve I was hit by Haku, on both hands. Then focused chakra to activate the E4. “Katsu!”
Bang! I felt a few of all the strings release me and I gritted my teeth a bit when I noticed I still had a few connected to me.
The boy looked at me thoughtful when all the smoke from my E4 all disappeared. “Powerful and effective, however you need to work on it to effect more than just a few chakra strings. I’ll help you,” my eyes widened at his words.
“What…” the chakra strings released me and he smirked.
“Consider this a challenge from me to you. An Artistic challenge,” I raised an eyebrow at him. “Whose art works better at being a ninja?”
I tensed and I fell into stance. “I was right, you’re not a traveller, hmm,” I snapped and he laughed at me.
“So much like Deidara, Emiko,” my eyes widened.
“You know my brother?!” I exclaimed and he nodded once. “Who in jashin’s name are you?!”
He walked up closer to me, his hand out. I looked at it carefully, before taking it in my hand. We shook once.
“Your brother is known, you know. It isn’t hard to pick out you’re his sister. And for who I am. The name my mother gave me is Hisashi, Hisashi Hyuuga.”
