Spade doodles and loredump

Spade's one of those characters I forget about and randomly remember that people actually really like and then hyperfixate on for like a day before forgetting again

Ngl he looks cool in the new style

Angy :3

I do love him a lot :)

Heart! :D
If you don't remember, she was his apprentice/adopted daughter (he thinks of her as an apprentice but they have a sort of father-daughter relationship and he refuses to admit it)

And she's dead woohoo

This fella's new. This is Club, the cardmaster before Spade and Spade's mentor. (The crown is passed on between cardmasters, this is what they looked like before they passed the duty on to Spade)

(yes nonbinary go brrr hopefully they won't fade into male or female like Xyan and Whipstitch did-)

In the cardmaster's card deck, there are 60 cards. 52 are the usual 13 of each symbol, and these are the extra eight plus the back design. All of them have powers.

More in-depth description of their usage:

Olive: The olive branch card shows that the one read to is innocent, and will not be harmed. Often these people turn into followers of the cardmaster and Fatism faith (the religion of the cardmasters). These people have a sort of undetectable, protective aura that prevents them from being severely injured or harmed. Those who seek harm to them are bestowed with eternal bad fortune.

Flight: The one read to goes free without consequence, good or bad.

Alone: The one read to (who will now be referred to as the victim because everything beyond this tends to be bad) will always have the cold sense of loneliness. Not the happy introvert kind, but the mental, depressed kind.

Hunted: The victim will be hunted by a creature of unknown appearance and style, as it has never been photographed. It is said to be sent from Fatism's version of purgatory, which I'll explain later. This can be changed, however, if you are forgiven by the cardmaster of the living and purgatory worlds, which I will also explain later. Often the victim suffers from extreme paranoia, and it is rare that they are forgiven for whatever sin had befallen them to deserve this fate.

Schizo: The victim will suffer vivid hallucinations at random moments in time.

Grief: The victim sinks into uncurable depression. This most often ends in suicide.

Spearhead: The victim is stabbed by a spear right then and there. It might seem harsh, considering there's no chance of survival here, but it's quite common, and the least painful of the dangerous cards.

Madness (or as Spade sometimes thinks of it, Broken heart): The most painful of the cards. The victim's past guilts, sorrows, and anger are brought forth from the depths of their mind and swallow them in a personified cloud of melancholy and hate. It may seem quick, but out of sight, the torture may last years on end. There is no escape.

:D

I don't like this much but eh here's Spade angry at Club's ghost

AT THAT I will now explain Fatism because this is important to the lore :3

- Fatism is the faith of the cardmaster(s). In it, fate is determined by the purgatorical cardmaster and the cards that speak for them.

- There are two stages of the afterlife. All initially reside in purgatory, basically limbo for Spade's universe. Except it is more populated, for anyone of the fatist faith is sent there (except for the few who are dirty liars or a-holes. Frick you. To the void you go). The second is resided only by the past cardmasters, who are basically the "priests" of Fatism. It is simply called "Beyond."

- There are two cardmasters - one of the living world and one of purgatory. The living world cardmaster is immortal, unless they pass their heritage on to their apprentice. Then they do not really "die," but pass on. They then inhabit the position of purgatorical cardmaster until the next cardmaster passes on their heritage, etc. After this they go to Beyond.

The purgatorical cardmaster is responsible for charging the fate of those who are read. They can see their entire past and attitude towards these experiences, and they judge based off of that. No one knows how they judge this, for they pass on with this knowledge and do not need to learn it, and refuse to share it.

- On the side of the cardmasters, there's a bit of religious strictness there as there always is. The cardmasters may not love romantically or have a partner in that sense. They must never return to whatever human life they may have had before their apprenticeship. They must take the name of one of the four suits (Spade, Club, Diamond, Heart, or Ace if they so choose.), chosen by their mentor but able to be changed as they are "crowned" (aka made a cardmaster). No remorse will be felt for those victimized by the cards' choice. After crowning, an apprentice must somehow physically represent each suit plus ace (in clothing/accessory choice). (I hope I didn't forget anything there-)

That's all I think bye thanks for sticking with my lore rant :3
