Pyroforests
I was writing part of Commander's lore (motivation these days) and at one point he was walking through a pyroforest on Xero. So I drew it and am using the opportunity to give some random facts about one of Xero's main biome types :)
(Am actually proud of this)
Okay so
Pyroforests are forests consisting mostly of vulcanwood trees and plants classified as "burning flora" (only the vines and the trees are classified as that in this picture). The trees and flora excrete lots of heat, warming the forests up to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, very much unlike the rest of the planet, which is always below 40-60 degrees (it's cold :b). This is why most other plants don't grow in pyroforests - it's much too hot there for them to grow.
The things that kind of look like ashes falling are from leaf pores. They're basically seeds, but at this point they don't create new plants. That only happens when the seeds are "activated" in Seedfall (Xero's autumn, also the growing season for some reason. Also for reference there's three seasons: Coldflame (winter), Seedfall (autumn), and Coldless (summer, though 40-50 degrees isn't really coldless but eh it is to them)). Then they glow bright yellow instead of red.
The vines are firethorn (pale yellow) and flickervine (bright yellow/orangey ish). Firethorn burns to the touch and have thorns, but it doesn't seem to burn clothes or cloth. Often it's harvested as a firestarter. Flickervine is a very tame version of it, and is basically just glowing yellow ivy. It's actually edible, but it'd be like eating something fresh from an oven and doesn't taste amazing.
Anyway thanks for coming to my TedTalk, goodbye :)
