I love this man.

He's so dark and complicated and has one hell of a secret. I suppose you could tell all of that just by looking at him.

Anyway, Redding is probably around his mid-twenties and has scientific interests. After his terrible "fate" he quit pursuing all schools of academic science and turned instead to the ones that could not yet be explained in the 1880's. Death. Ghosts. The afterlife. All that morbid stuff.

Redding also leads a fictional life. Only one man knows who he really is and Redding plans to keep it this way by agreeing to a pact. As a part of this fraudulent existence he must go through with the marriage between himself and Nina de Veyra -- the daughter of one of Glasten's elite. Except... deep down Nina knows Joseph isn't the same man who proposed to her, even though Joseph has now developed feelings for her.

Redding has his vain, wild and addictive side. Despite being a lonely and silent kind of man most of the time, he does genuinely enjoy the company of other people and has a few eccentric people he'd consider friends. He is also a self-taught cellist, though by his own admission "only dabbles" and will not play publicly.

His animosity is directed towards a man of science and former friend named Jonathan Corgaine, who Redding suspects is the root of Glasten's horrors and all of his personal troubles. And yet, Redding still struggles internally to seek justice or revenge on the man...
