Raqmarah is probably one of my favourite characters. He may be one of the most dignified men of the Painted Guard, but he's also one of the most tormented. A hot-blooded drunkard up until three years ago, he underwent great personal change upon his third marriage, only to discover he is beyond redemption. In the events of the novel, a desperate Raqmarah falls for the promise of undoing his past blunders in return for getting himself involved in one last war manoeuvre that could make or break him for good.

Raqmarah enjoys the solitude and silence of his office, though all the while suffers the intrusive memories of his cruelty alongside his old acquaintances, Keig and the Tailer -- two Wastelanders he washed his hands of years ago.

Dislikes being reminded he's fucked up more times than he cares to remember. Has eight beloved children, two of which died as infants.
