An0n goes on a Rant

A/N: I wouldn't read this if you have arachnophobia.

"Hey An0n!!!!! There's a spider next to you~"

I freeze up, my back stiffening, my blood seeming to run ice cold through my veins. "Wh-where?" I managed to choke out hoarsely.

My sister laughs at me, and my best friend pats me sympathetically on the shoulder. "Don't listen to her An0n, she's just trying to scare you."

I shoot a withering glare at my younger sister. She bursts into laughter, but when I turn around, I actually do see a tiny spider.

I scream.

*VVVVVVRRRRSSZZZZZTTT!!!!!!!!*

Okay, okay. I know. It's tiny, they can't hurt me, all that stuff that you are thinking right now.

Or not.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised.

Y'all are REALLY understanding.

Anyways, yeah.

I get that I'm SO much bigger than them, and they probably panic whenever they see me coming, but I am TIRED of my siblings and friends telling me that my fear is irrational and silly.

Cause it's actually not.

If they went through what I went through, they would have arachnophobia as well.

It all started when I was a little girl...

* * * * *

Ah, kindergarten. What a wonderful age, where the youthful soul is stimulated in its first real taste of the academic atmosphere which would later make up a hefty portion of the child's experiences.

Kids were playing in the sandbox, playing tag, screaming and running around the room aimlessly as the young often do, the teacher was slouching half-dead at their desk, lamenting the shortness of their income compared to the trials they must undergo daily.

Oh, but what is that over there?

There, by the abandoned bookshelf that no child hardly ever visits, is a small girl.

She sits on the floor, criss cross apple sauce, with a comically oversized book in her lap. Her golden locks are tucked neatly behind her ears to limit the chance of a wisp of hair marring her view of the book. Her eyes were a queerish color, not quite gray, but not quite blue. The only unchanging color that wouldn't appear different when compared with other shades, was the thin band of yellow around her pupils.

It was very evident that this child was different from the others, she was for the most part quiet, and the fact that she was reading AT ALL was very different from the usual class norms.

The little girl named An0n flipped the page of the large book, and studied the contents of the next page with a face full of childish wonder and curiosity, although her expression was solemn.

The picture she was staring at was a large arachnid.

She traced the spiders figure with a finger, whispering the name of it softly under her breath.

After reading the entirety of the nonfiction book about spiders, the girl turned to the dusty shelf, and pulled another off the shelf. It was about snakes.

She had no fear of the eight-legged arachnids yet, but that would soon change as she got older...

* * * * *

8 year old An0n skipped happily next to her father, attempting to keep up with his long strides. They had just returned f red om an outing in the woods, where they'd had a picnic in a lovely green meadow.

What's more, they were lucky enough to find two wolf spiders out there, and just so happened to have a container with them!!!

An0n dashed ahead of her father, who chuckled. She peered into the little glass terrarium.

"Cool!!!"

* * * * *

The next day, little An0n woke up with the sun, stretching and yawning sleepily, before promptly diving into the covers yet again.

Morning could wait.

Oh, nevermind! There was spiders to see!!!

An0n had forgotten the arachnids they had found in the field, and she leaped out of the bed with vigor.

Unfortunately for the little girl, the spiders had been unlucky enough to not have eaten before getting caught, for who knows how long.

An0n shuffled into the hall, sliding on some cute penguin slippers. She dashed to the door, and swung it open wide, bounding towards the little terrarium.

She stopped.

And stared.

Oh, how she wish she hadn't.

The spiders were in a grotesque positions, fangs lodged in each other's bodies, legs entangled with each other. They twitched and writhed around the little cage, making horrible scuffling sounds that sent the nape of little An0n's neck aprickle. The poison was obviously taking its toll on the two, but most horrible of all was this:

The spiders had half eaten each other alive.

Smol An0n wrenched her gaze away from the ghastly sight. She twitched all over, getting the horrible feeling of thousands of legs scuttling over her body.

She screamed, and ran into the house, sobbing.

* * * * *

While this memory was the start towards her dislike of spiders, it was only unease which penetrated her body when she saw the eight-legged creatures, not fear.

But that was to soon change...

* * * * *

11 year old An0n ran through her friend's house giggling as she ran off the sugar buzz that they had acquired the morning after the sleepover.

Dang, could that lady make PANCAKES!!!

Eventually, the two girls calmed down, still laughing from the fun they'd had.

"Hey An0n, let's go outside and climb the hill!!!" Her friend said excitedly.

"Okay-dokay!!!" An0n chirped cheerfully.

Her friend opened the door, jumping down the steps. An0n excused herself to go use the bathroom, politely, of course.

When she had finished washing her hands, she slipped on her boots and opened the door.

One thing caught her eye, nestled up underneath part of the wooden frame for the railing.

An0n shut the door softly and looked closer, narrowing her eyes.

It was a silky bulge, shivering slightly from what An0n assumed was the wind.

Strange.

She couldn't feel any wind...

'Where have I seen this before...?'

Oh.

OH.

Her mind raced, flashing back to that day at kindergarten.

The spider book.

Oh, WHAT had it said that was reminding her so strongly of this quivering bulge???

Silk...

Bulge...

...wait...

...not a bulge...

...more like a...

...a...

...sac.

A SAC?!?!?

An0n jerked backwards in horror. But just as she came to this realization, something happened that she would NEVER forget.

The sac split open.

Thousands upon THOUSANDS of little silk strands shot out, in every direction possible. Unfortunately, as the sac was sheltered in all directions EXCEPT the one An0n was standing in, most of the fine strings latched onto the whimpering child.

And then came the baby spiders.

An0n panicked and screamed, a poor choice as some of the late hatchers nearly made it into her mouth.

Actually, there was a high chance that they DID, there were so many of them.

One fact repeated through little An0n's head, over and over and over.

'If spiders lay egg sacs, oftentimes there can he THOUSANDS of little spiders within...'

The little spiders scuttled on An0n's trembling body, shooting strands everywhere, on her face, under her clothes, crawling crawling CRAWLING EVERYWHERE.

An0n practically flew down the steep steps, tripping and falling to the ground. She twitched and writhed, sobs racking her small body. She swiped little spiders off of her everywhere, almost too hysterical to do even this action. Her tears crashed to the ground, her panicked breathes making her hyperventilate and go into a panic attack.

* * * * *

Years later, the now 16 year old An0n can still summon up the image of that day. Although the rest of that day was a blur, (An0n didn't even remember how she got them all OFF), she still remember the events vividly.

And so when her sisters chide her for being a scaredy-cat about tiny spiders in general, An0n feels a burning anger.

If only they knew...

A/N: ;-; 1238 words. I kinda relived the terror a little when I wrote this. This is 100% true. Even the part about me reading a nonfictional informative book when I was in kindergarten. I learned how to comprehensively read books in kindergarten, my first chapter book being Narnia. What can I say! Dad got tired of reading it out loud to me, and I had read along anyways, so it kinda just happened lol. I wanted to write this cause I was kinda feeling pissed at my sisters constantly laughing at me for being so friggin scared of spiders, especially the small ones.

XD sorry if I gave some of you anxiety by reading this.
