I think my favourite part of the art process is sketching.  So sometimes I get a bit caught up in a cycle of sketching and never wanting to actually finish anything ._.

Anyway

I thought that I'd just show my hoard of wips for the meantime since it looks as though I may not be getting them done anytime soon ^_^;

Honestly my issue with this one is that I keep getting stuck on how to draw the arm lol.  A few parts of the anatomy look very awkward to me so I guess I wanna just leave it for a bit and come back to it at a later date with fresh eyes.

I love this.  The reason I haven't finished it is because detailed backgrounds intimidate the hell out of me aha.  I'm determined to get it done though, because I think it's cute and I wanna see it finished.

Okay so both of these were attempts at a mimic octopus inspired character, and neither of them really fit my vision for what I wanted him to look like.  I still like them, idk if I'll finish them though.

Here is a little bit of experimentation with Crown Of Thorns' hairstyle.  Because his hair is basically just a big starfish I like to imagine that it can change shape to reflect his mood a little bit. 

This one is Crown Of Thorns playing the aulos, because I just sort of decided one day that he plays the aulos.  They're an Ancient Greek recorder instrument if you're curious about them.

Oh boy.  You know her, you love her, this is a character based off of the beloved sea bunny.  It felt criminal not to have a character based off of this thing lol; especially as my story will have a reasonably sized cast of nudibranch characters.

Some triggerfish girls.  These were super fun to draw.  The issue with them is that I just can't really settle on hairstyles for them eheh.  I want one of them to be the red-tooth triggerfish, but I'm not sure about the other one.

This character was a weird combination of fun and frustrating to design ngl.

Okay so fun fact there are actually two species of "triton snails".  The triton you'll see in my other art is based off of the larger of the two (Charonia Tritonis), and this character is based off of the less impressive "Atlantic Triton snail" (Charonia Variegata).

Characters in my story ride large nektonic animals as a form of locomotion. I like to imagine that Crown Of Thorns has a dolphin and Triton rides a shark.

This is Powder Blue, Regal Blue's older brother. I didn't use the symmetry tool for this but for some reason it looks too symmetrical to me lol. I'm struggling to come up with a design for his facial patterns.

And here is Triton just absolutely loosing it lol. I really wanna start pushing the expressions on my characters a bit, so I guess this was also practice for that.

Sometimes I struggle to find inspiration in my art, so I just keep creating new ones in the hope that something might click. Really what I need to do is to just work on the ones I've already got eheh.
